Letting You Go
The next morning, you woke up at 8am and slipped off the bed quietly without waking Junhyung. You headed to the bathroom to brush your teeth and wash your face before changing your clothes and heading out the door.
Junhyung had an audition later and you wanted to make him a hearty breakfast so he’d have energy. But since there wasn’t any food in the house, you decided to wake up early to do go grocery shopping. You didn’t mention it to Junhyung the previous night because you knew that he’d insist on accompanying you and sacrifice his rest. You knew how badly he wanted to become a rapper and how important any and every audition was to him.
By the time you were done buying the groceries and some essential household items, both your hands were filled with bags and you began your slow walk back to the house. Junhyung was still asleep when you made it back so you decided to put away everything before starting on breakfast.
You were busy preparing breakfast and absentmindedly humming a tune when you were startled by a voice. “-----ah, it’s a Saturday, what are you doing up so early?” Junhyung sleepily drawled while leaning against the bedroom door frame.
You clutched you chest and turned around to face the voice. “Omo! Oppa! Are you a ninja? Can you make some noise when you move?”
“Sorry.” He chuckled. “You still haven’t answered me by the way. Why are you up so early?”
“I’m making you breakfast-“ You glanced at the clock and saw that it was almost 11am “Or rather brunch. You need good food so that you’d do well for your audition later.”
Junhyung just watched you with an amused expression on his face without saying anything so you walked up to him, flipped him around and pushed him back into the bedroom towards the bathroom. “Now shoo oppa. Go get ready while I finish preparing the food.”
After Junhyung had eaten the food you prepared for him and left for his audition, you did the dishes and began to clean the house. There was a thin layer of dust over almost everything since it had not been occupied for a while. You also unpacked both Junhyung’s and your luggage and arranged everything nicely. Just when you finished unpacking and stopped for a breather, you realized that it was almost 5pm. Time had flown by when you were busy and it was time for you to make dinner.
You were plating out the dishes when you heard the front door open and click shut. “-----ah, I’m home. What smells so good?” Junhyung called out from the front door while sniffing the air.
“Oh oppa, you’re home. I made dinner. Do you want to eat first or do you want to take a shower first?” You smiled and asked.
Junhyung looked at you, your hair pulled back into a bun with a purple apron on, and couldn’t help but take a moment to look at you. “Do you know that you look like you’re my wife rather than my best friend?”
You blushed slightly, “Oppa! Don’t tease me! If I don’t take care of you, who would?” You pouted and put your hands on your hips.
He walked up to you and ruffled your hair. “You know I’m just kidding right? The food smells really good, let’s eat before it gets cold.” He grinned before pulling you down to the chair at the table.
“Oppa, how did your audition go?” You looked up and asked while he was tucking into the food.
“I didn’t make the cut but I didn’t expect to make it on the first try anyway.” He shrugged and gave you a smile. You saw that his smile didn’t reach his eyes though. You knew he was disappointed but brushed it off because he didn’t want to worry you, so you decided to let it go.
You gave him your best smile. “It’s ok. I know you can do it. Oppa hwaiting!”
