Chapter Eighteen: To The Rescue ( Part Two )

Chanyeol was strapped on a surgical table, the horrible memories of not so long ago still lingering in his mind. He had already given up on shaking his way out, since the leather straps were too tight. The doctors had put metal cuffs on his hands. Unfortunately, the flames he made weren't hot enough to melt them.

Baekhyun screamed again. It was the third scream he heard from him but this time... it was different. His scream sounded more excruciating than the first two.

A chill ran down Chanyeol's spine. He couldn't imagine what Baekhyun was going through.

Chanyeol sighed in frustration when the door creaked open. He already had a gash that took up half of his forehead. If the doctor didn't think of getting anesthesia, he would already be taking a peak at Chanyeol's brain.

He didn't expect to hear the sweet sound of his sister's voice.

"Chanyeol?"

Sun Young was standing at the doorway, her brown eyes wide open. Chanyeol didn't know why she was wearing a doctor's robe but he didn't care at the moment.

"Sun Young?!," Chanyeol tried to get up and hug her but he was held down by the leather straps. "What are you doing here?!"

"I'm here to save you," Sun Young used her knife to cut the leather straps. "Thank God, they didn't do anything else to you."

"Not yet," Chanyeol joked, earning a glare from Sun Young. "But Baekhyun..."

"What about him?," Sun Young was still cutting the leather straps.

"He's been screaming for the last fifteen minutes...," Chanyeol trailed, his eyes glassy.

"Yeah, we heard the last one," Sun Young said sadly. She was rummaging through the drawers, looking for the key to unlock the cuffs. "Damn, where did they hide the keys?"

"Are you looking for these?"

Standing near the doorway was Luhan. He was leaning on the door frame casually, a smirk on his pale face. He was dangling the keys in his hands.

"L-Luhan!," Sun Young quickly grabbed the keys and turned around, hoping that her face did not turn red because of Luhan's model pose. "W-Where did you get these?"

"From him," Luhan shrugged and pointed at the fainted doctor on the floor, right next to his feet.

"Oh," Sun Young unlocked the metal cuffs, Chanyeol finally being able to stretch his fingers. "Chanyeol, do you know where Baekhyun is?"

Chanyeol shook his head. "They separated us as soon as we got here."

Sun Young looked at Luhan, expecting him to pinpoint Baekhyun's location.

"I don't know either," Luhan said sadly. "There's something in these walls that's blocking my telepathy."

Chanyeol stretched his fingers. "I guess we should search every room then."

Meanwhile, Onew was outside with the others. He was opening each door and peeping through each window, hoping to find Baekhyun alive.

Onew was infuriated when he heard Baekhyun's scream a few minutes ago. He finally understood why Key hated humans, they wouldn't care about hurting, or even killing, others if it was for their own personal gain.

He would admit, Luhan's pack all hated humans. Most of them didn't want to save the Park twins when they saw them being attacked by Kai's coven, but Luhan insisted that they should. For some reason, he was eager to save them.

Onew then realized that the Park twins have opened his eyes. They were the living proof that not all humans were bad and arrogant. Just like his mother told him when he was a child... If there is bad, there will always be good.

Onew didn't realize that he was blankly opening random doors until he heard a small voice squeak his name.

"O-Onew-hyung?"

Strapped on an even larger surgical table was Baekhyun. There was a table of surgical tools next to him, sending a shiver down Onew's spine. There was a blue blanket on top of him, drops of blood spluttered on its left side. Strangely, there was no doctor around him.

"Thank God, you came before the doctor could come back with anesthesia," Baekhyun let out a dry chuckle.

Onew only noticed Baekhyun's injuries when he stepped closer.

Blood was dripping from Baekhyun's left eye. His bangs were covering part of his face so Onew couldn't see the wound.

Onew's breath hitched in his throat when he saw the small circular muscle with a green core, lying on a sliver disk with the surgical tools. He swore that it looked just like---

"The doctors were so amazed at how my eyes could change colors that they actually took one," Baekhyun chuckled dryly again, not noticing the tears flowing from his right eye. Onew couldn't tell if he was crying blood or not. "You know what? They didn't even give me anesthesia!"

Seeing his best friend cry like this made Onew want to cry himself. He told himself that he was the hyung and that he shouldn't cry in front of his dongseang.

"It hurts, hyung," Baekhyun was sobbing now. "It-- It hurts."

Onew grabbed the scalpel and tried cutting the leather straps, ignoring the blood-- Baekhyun's blood --that was dripping from it. "You're alright now, Baek. You're... alright now."

Neither of them noticed Key, who was standing in the doorway, his mouth agape because of the sight in front of him. He quickly snapped out of it and used his claws to cut the leather straps loose.

Onew didn't know why he didn't think of using his claws. "Thanks, Key."

Key was crying, the sight of Baekhyun's tears and blood overwhelming him. It surprised Onew, since Key was one of the strongest-- and sassiest --people he knew. Seeing his best friend in pain must have crushed his heart, just like how it crushed Onew's heart.

Key sniffled. He pulled Baekhyun up and gave him a tight hug. "I-It's alright, Baek. We're here now."

Onew couldn't help but cry himself, seeing two of his friends in tears was too much for him. He slammed his hand on the table. "Why... why do humans have to be so selfish?!"

"O-Onew-hyung," Baekhyun choked out. "D-Don't say that... Chanyeol might hear."

Onew was touched at how Baekhyun could care about others when he himself was in pain.

Chanyeol had seen the wide open door and upon seeing the parade of tears and blood, immediately ordered Kris to take Sun Young somewhere else. Even though she protested, she trusted her brother, and let Kris drag her away.

Luhan was standing behind Chanyeol, staring at all his crying pack members. He had a heart of stone, due to past events, but he still cared about his pack. His pack, now consisted all fifteen of them. Sixteen, he scolded himself after remembering Chen's existence.

Baekhyun suddenly ran over to the two people standing near the doorway. Luhan expected him to give him a big hug but was surprised when the werewolf landed in Chanyeol's arms.

"Ch-Channie," Baekhyun burried his face in Chanyeol's chest. "Th-They took my---"

"I know, Baekkie," Chanyeol Baekhyun's hair, letting the older boy sob in his shirt. "It's okay... you're safe now."

Key looked at the people who were in between a hugging session. He raised an eyebrow, Luhan recognizing it to be Key's diva mode.

"Channie? Baekkie? What are you two, sweethearts?," Key joked, which was weird because his face was full of tears.

"Shut up," Baekhyun suddenly turned serious. After the quick reunion, Luhan tore his shirt and wrapped the cloth around Baekhyun's eye socket. "You're just jealous because you're not close to your loved one, Jonghyun."

"Seriously, Key? Jonghyun?," Onew was laughing now, the air suddenly having a light feeling in it.

"S-Shut up," Key's face turned pink. "He's not my loved one!"

"You're right, he's not," Baekhyun smirked. "He's the one you desire."

"Shut up!," Key growled. Onew wasn't surprised, there were times when Baekhyun was even sassier than Key so neither of them really own the title of Diva Queen. "I just want to be friends with him! Besides... he just... seems like a pretty cool guy."

"You sound like you love him," Luhan chuckled. He was still bandaging Baekhyun's eye.

"Yah!," Key screamed, everyone erupting into laughter.

Chen was glad that he didn't forget to lock the security room's door. The guards came back from their lunch break and were now banging on the door, screaming at whoever was inside to let them in.

"Aish," Chen was stuffing all his gadgets back in his bag, not forgetting Tao's USB cord. Jumping out of the window was not an option so he looked up, seeing the open air vent.

In times like these, Chen wished that he was taller. He had to stack a few monoblock chairs to reach the air vent. He threw his bag in the vent before crawling up, kicking down the chairs as he did.

When the sceurity guards finally broke down the door and saw the open air vent, they used their radios to call for back-up.
