Everything Has Changed

i planned to write a ssohyo, jistal and other pairings, i just dont have a story yet then i got hooked in writing my other story. and when i was trying to write an update for my other story, i got stuck because of this random idea. i just had to write this down. mianhe. (inspired by hyomin's knitting)

“What?!” He looked at his father hoping that his father will change his mind. But the old man didn’t. “Appa” He whined.

“You brought this to yourself.” With that, the old man left his son.

“Aish” he was throwing tantrums like a kid. He is really frustrated. It’s not like he can do anything but follow his father’s command. It’s not even his fault anyway!!

Flashback

The bell rang signaling that it is the end of the school day. The hall was filled with rushed footsteps and chatters. All excited to leave school or to go to their next activities. All, except for one – Park Hyomin who has to do detention. He was caught sleeping in class again. If he is not sleeping, he is skipping class. Detention is somewhat a part of Hyomin’s curriculum. Despite this he maintains an average grade.

“What is it this time?” He said talking to himself. “Oh, it’s the basketball gym. Nice.” He went to his assignment which is to clean the basketball gym. “Just my luck. No practice today. I don’t think they will mind if I play some hoops.” He said to no one while he removed his school jacket. He played for a while, rest when he got tired, then he finally started to clean the gym. It was a bit late when he finished. While walking home, he heard a commotion happening outside the school gate. He went to look outside and there he saw a car stopped in the middle of the road and a few guys in front shouting and pointing at the driver. He wonders if the car had hit someone. He looked around to see if anyone else was there like the school guard but there is no one else but them. Seeing it was Teacyeon and his gang, he decided not to meddle and just walk off. The driver must have thought the same thing as the car tried to reverse. But Taecyeon hit the car with a baseball bat shouting, “You think you can just get away like that?”

“Where did that bat came from?” Hyomin exclaimed. He witnessed as a man went out of the car and shouted, “Yah! You punk! Do you know what you just did? Do you know how much damaged you’ve done?” Hyomin who was like watching a drama commented, “Ohh…this is not good.”

“Punk?? What did you just called me? Do you know who I am?”

“Punk. Yeah you useless punk.” Teacyeon punched he guy and threw him to the ground. He then smashed the car another time then he heard someone shrieked inside. It caught everyone’s attention. “Well, well, what do we have here?” he looked at the guy he just punched and said, “You act so tough but you are just a driver… Let’s see who the real owner is?”

“No, stop. We will let this go. Just leave us alone.. Please.”

“Now you say please? I thought you just called me a punk. A useless punk.” He said as he circle around the car.

“Stop!” Hyomin shouted. “Park Hyomin say hello to a year’s detention and Appa’s scolding and punishment” he said to himself. When he heard that someone else was inside the car and that Taecyeon was planning on hurting that person, he can’t just hide and watch.

Teacyeon stopped and rest the bat on his shoulders. “Oh if it isn’t our delinquent friend, Park Hyomin. What can I do for you?”

“Just passing by and I saw that there was this party. I just thought I can check it out.” He then gave Taecyeon a serious look and continued, “But I guess I came in late cause the party’s over.”

“If the party’s over then why are you still here?” Teacyeon glared at Hyomin. His friends who were punching the poor guy also stopped and faced Hyomin. “I think you should just go, Park Hyomin. For your own good.”

“Sigh. Just when I thought I can live in peace.” Hyomin said to himself. “Haven’t you had enough? You have clearly thought this guy a lesson.” They looked at the guy and snickered. 

“You see, this guy almost hit us. And he claimed that we damaged the car and we have to pay. So I need to talk to the owner so we can negotiate about it.” Teacyeon explained.

“I see that none of you got hurt. And that guy said that he is willing to forget about the car damaged if you just let them go.”

“All you punks go to hell.” The guy shouted and he was punched again. “Stupid ahjussi! You’re supposed to say yes!” Hyomin then went to punch one of the gang. He learned a few taekwondo skills from Jiyeon and Eunjung. He saw Taecyeon was trying to open the car door and shouting at the person inside to come out. Hyomin stopped him by punching him on the eye. Teacyeon swung the bat and hit one of his friends.

Prrrrtttt. It was the school guards along with some of the teachers. Taecyeon and his gang ran for escape but were caught.  All of them are in the principal’s office.

“It was a gang fight! We were on our way home and he hit our car. When I got out and said that he has to pay for damages, he and his gang punched me.” The driver explained.

“Liar! You tried to hit us. We were waiting for an apology but instead he called us punk.”

“Do you see what he did to the car? To me?” The driver earned the sympathy. Teacyeon’s gang were protesting but were silence.

“Yes, Teacyeon’s gang are at fault but that guy is not telling the whole truth anyway. He provoked them” Hyomin explained.

“And what are doing this late in school, Park Hyomin?”

“I was in detention, Sir”

“See? Detention? How can you be sure that that kid is not with them? He is a delinquent just like them.” The guy said. Hyomin wanted to punch the guy himself. If it wasn’t for the person inside the car, he would have left them alone.

Since Teacyeon and his gangs are from a different school, they were sent home but they will be dealing with their own school and parents. All their parents were called to pick them up. While waiting outside, Taecyeon and his gang saw the driver who gave them a smug. He went to punch the guy but was stopped by Hyomin.

“Get away, Hyomin. Or else we will have another round.”

“Look, we can go for a few more rounds if you want. For what? Clearly we are going to be punished because of this guy.”

“Then get away and let me punish him myself.”

“It will just get you more into trouble. Our schools are going to give us punishment so as our parents while he (points at the guy) He will get medicated, keep his job and perhaps get a few allowances, and live a happy life while bragging it to his friends. Look, I only interrupted you because I thought you were going to hurt the innocent person inside. I don’t give a damn if you punch him senselessly. Heck, he even got me into trouble after saving his life. All I am saying is pick a good timing and place.”

Teacyeon smiled and nod at Hyomin. “Ok, I will keep that mind.” The guy is now scared to death after listening to Hyomin’s words. He messed up with the wrong guy. Now, Hyomin and the gangs are friends. After punching and kicking, they became friends even inviting the other to hang out with them.

“Hyomin.” His father called him and went inside the principal’s office. Hyomin looked at his new friends and said, “I’m being summoned.”

“May the force be with you, young Jedi.” Teacyeon joked and they all laughed. Hyomin bid goodbye and went inside.

End of flashback

Hyomin woke up extra earlier than usual. Prepared earlier than usual. Went out of the house earlier than usual. Unlike the usual, he walked to a different direction. He walked to someone else’s home. “Yup, this must be it.” He said to himself and rang the bell.

“Oh, you’re here.”

“Ready?”

“Yes.”

“Let’s go.”

“Sica!!!” Her friends came rushing towards her as soon as they entered the school gate. Hyomin distanced himself but still following Jessica behind. After all, they shared all classes.

News flies so fast. Everyone was talking about what happened last night. It’s ridiculous how rumors are exaggerated. Hyomin became a notorious gang leader. The leader amongst gang leaders. What is more shocking for them was to see Park Hyomin come to class and on time. Not only that, he didn’t skipped any classes for the whole morning. To everyone’s surprise, Park Hyomin stayed in the classroom the whole day and he didn’t slept in any class. 

Jessica went to Hyomin and said, “I still have to do a few things for the student council.” Hyomin nodded. “You can come if you want or you…”

“I’ll go with you.” Hyomin answered and they walked to the student council office. It is really awkward between them. This has been their activity for two weeks. There are no hostility between them just plain awkward.

Flashback

When Hyomin entered the principal’s office, he saw his father, the principal, another man and a girl who is also wearing the same uniform as his. He sat beside his father and saw that the girl opposite him is Jessica Jung, the student council president. He was wondering what she is doing here.

“We heard what really happened out there from Jessica. Mr. Jung, your father and I talked about it and decided that you will not get detention or punishment from the school.” Hyomin was happy that the school was not giving him punishment but it was short lived. “However we will leave it to your parents.”

At Hyomin’s house.

“You will have to look after Jessica Jung. Pick her up and send her home. Make sure to be with her the whole time when she is outside her house. She will be staying in a condominium near your school.”

“Appa… I don’t think Teacyeon will come after her. Besides they didn’t even know that she was the one inside the car.”

“We don’t want this incident happening again. Mr. jung is worried about his daughter’s safety.”

“Why not just rent a security or something.” Mr. Park did not say anything. “Is this my punishment?”

“Don’t you think I didn’t know about your activities in school, young man. Remember, make sure to stay with her the whole time when she is outside her house. Meaning you have to stay with her in class. You both have the same classes.”

 End of Flashback

One day, Sica has so much to do that she forgot about the time and Hyomin. “Mianhe, I lost track of time.”

“It’s ok. Are you done?”

“Not yet but I will continue it tomorrow.”

They walked to Sica’s place. “Would you like to grab something to eat? I feel sorry that you stayed so late.” Hyomin’s face lit up. He was really starving. Sica giggled and invited him inside. “I am sorry it’s a bit messy.”

Hyomin looked around and it is a bit messy. But he didn’t say anything.

“I don’t really have that much food. We can order pizza? Though it may take a few minutes or so…”

 “We can have instant noodles.” Hyomin said sensing that Sica does not do much house work cooking included. Hyomin helped in cooking while Sica prepared the utensils.

“Why do you moved in a condominium?” Hyomin started the conversation.

“You mean why I moved here when I don’t even know how to do house work?” Sica teased.

“That’s not what I mean..” Sica raised her eyebrow. “Ok so I meant to say that. Why leave the comfort of your house to be here alone?”

“I was able to convince Appa that I wanted to stay in a condominium near school because I usually stay late because of my duties. And also, my parents are always overseas for business so I am usually alone at home. After that incident, my parents were worried that I stay alone and wanted me to transfer school so I can be with them. After some convincing, they agreed that I get to stay for a few conditions. One is I stay in a place where the security is good. Two, everytime I go out…”

“I will follow you around.” Hyomin finished to which Sica nodded. “I bet you are annoyed that someone always following you around like a shadow.”

“Well, it is more reassuring that it isn’t a stalker that is following me around.”

After that night, it was less awkward between the two of them. Hyomin will sometimes help Sica with her student council duties. And they will share some dinner together which is either take outs or instant noodles. He will not be following her around anymore but will walk beside her. Of course this does not go unnoticed to the whole student body. Not when it is the oddest couple that it can be, the class delinquent and the student council president.

It was a weekend but Hyomin is still with Sica. Sica was going to meet her friend’s house for ‘study group’ in her friend’s beach house and Hyomin has to accompany her. But Hyomin wake up late making Sica unable to join them.

Flashback

Hyomin’s phone kept ringing and it was annoying him because he knows that it is the weekend. It’s the only time he can catch up with sleep because he stopped sleeping in class. “Hello” he greeted sleepily.

“Where are you?” It was cold and crisp. Like he was splashed with cold water, Hyomin’s eyes shot open and looked at the clock.

“Give me 5 mins.” He said and rushed. He just brushed is teeth and wore jeans and pants and shoes. He rode his bike to Sica’s dorm so he can get there faster. When he reached her house, he nervously rang the bell. Sica opened the door. The temperature had dropped significantly. She didn’t say anything but just walked inside, Hyomin unwillingly followed her inside.     

“Mianhe.” It is all he can say. But Sica just gave him a cold treatment. “We can still go..” No reply. “We can follow them. I can ask Appa to send us.” Hyomin suggested. But Sica did not answer. “Sica, mianhe. Please don’t be mad. We can have breakfast. My treat.” Sica thought for a while and Hyomin was silently praying please. Sica was trying hard to keep a straight face while watching Hyomin.

“Ok.” She said shortly still fighting the urge to smile or laugh at Hyomin who is now jumping and shouting like he won a prize.

He reached out his hand to Sica and said, “Let’s go. All this jumping just made me hungrier.” He joked trying to make Sica smile but she didn’t. Hyomin has one goal today and that is to make Sica smile. On the other hand, Sica is secretly smiling and laughing. She is not sure how long she can hold it but she will not give in so easily. They went to a café and eat heartily. Hyomin did all the talking but sharing some of his stories and jokes.

“You smiled!” Hyomin exclaimed like a kid. He was so happy that his eyes are shining even behind those glasses. Because he was rushing, he didn’t get the time to wear contacts so he went with his glasses. Sica find it refreshing to see Hyomin in casual clothes and wearing glasses. It is different from his tough delinquent image.

“Huh?”

“Come on. I saw you finally smile. You smiled! You did. You smiled” Hyomin repeated and finally Sica can’t help but smile.

“So this is what you’ve been trying to do? Trying to make me smile?”

“Yes. I am sorry I made you miss your ‘study group’. So I have been trying to make you smile so you can forgive me and not be mad anymore.”

Sica smiled at Hyomin’s sweet action. Who knew that Park Hyomin can be sweet? “I am not mad at you. How can I be when I am the one asking you a favor?”

“But still…let me make it up to you. I will accompany you wherever you wanted to go.”

“Jinja?”

“Yes.”

They went to the grocery to buy some stuff. She was surprise that Hyomin knows how to pick groceries even teaching her how to choose the good ones from the bad ones.

“I usually accompany my mom in grocery shopping so I get to pick up some skills from her.” He explained. “I’m surprise you just wanted to go grocery shopping. I thought you will be dragging me to the mall for endless shopping.”

“I planned to but I feel like I just want to sleep and laze around the house all day.”

“Yes, that is an ideal weekend.”

They reached the house and hang out at Sica’s place. They decided to watch a few movies but halfway Sica fell asleep. He tried to wake her up.

“Sica, go to your room so you can sleep comfortably.”

“I am ok.”

“You’re sleepy. Go.”

“How about you?”

“I’ll be fine.”

“Feel free to stay”

“Arasso. I will finish the movie.” Hyomin replied. Sica smiled and went to her room.

Hyomin arranged the magazines on the table. Next, he was arranging the books in the shelf. Next thing you know, he was cleaning the house. His mother always nagged at him when his room is messy that is why he has a habit of cleaning his room. Once he started cleaning, he finishes it. It was almost lunch time when he finished. He remembered the groceries they bought and started cooking.

Sica woke up from her nap and she was surprise to see her house clean. He walked to the kitchen and saw Hyomin preparing lunch. “Wow!”

“Hello. Sorry, I got too comfortable at your house.”

“It’s ok. Please be comfortable.” Still in awe of Hyomin’s skills. Again, Hyomin has surprised her.

“Have seat. Let me do the cooking.”

“Sure thing. Thanks for cleaning the house.”

“No problem. Think of this as peace offering.”

“I told you, you are forgiven.”

“I know but I like to do this for you.” Hyomin replied making Sica blushed.

“You know how to buy groceries, clean the house and cook. Park Hyomin, you will be a good house husband.” She teased.

“That is the plan.” He answered and they both laughed. “And you will be a great wife who is the provider of the family.”

Sica was blushing so hard. She is so happy that she gets to spend time with him. She didn’t mind not making it to the ‘study group’ because spending the day with Hyomin is way better. Hyomin, on the other hand, has no clue of the effect he has made on the girl.

“Tada!” He put the dish on the table. Sica took some and tasted it. Hyomin was expecting her reaction.

“Hmm…taste good.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you. Let’s eat!”

While they were eating, someone rang the doorbell. They looked at each other wondering who it was. Sica went to open the door and her surprise, it was her friends.

“What are you guys doing here?”

“Didn’t you received our message? I told you that we are going to your house instead.”

“No. I haven’t checked my phone. When did you send it?”

“We sent you this morning but you were not replying. We figured that you might be asleep so we decided to crash your house.”

“I smell food. Homemade food. You can cook?”

“I was having lunch…” Sica said but all her friends have already went inside straight to the kitchen. She followed them but saw them surprised to see her companion. “As I was saying before you all went ahead and left me. I was having lunch with Hyomin.”

“Annyeong” Hyomin greeted. “I cooked for Sica as peace offering because I made her miss the study group.” Hyomin tried to explain. The atmosphere was really awkward. Their classmates were just shock.

“You made that? Can I have some?” Sooyoung asked.

“Neh. Help yourself.”

“Thanks. It smells so good. I was afraid to taste it because I thought Sica made it.”

“Yah!”

“What? We all know you can’t cook.” Soo retorted making everyone laughed and ease the awkward atmosphere. “Daebak!” Soo sat opposite Hyomin and eat some more. “Hyomin, I also missed the study group, will you also cook for me as peace offering?”

“Yah! Choi Sooyoung! Stop talking nonsense.” Sica said and she sat beside Hyomin. The rest of her friends also joined in.

After eating, Sica’s friends are all hanging in the common area while Sica and Hyomin are in the kitchen. Sica dragged Hyomin to join them. Her friends noticed the way Sica is with Hyomin. How she will always sit beside Hyomin. And every time, the two will share a sweet moment, the others will share knowing glances.

“Sica”

“Hmm..”

“Do you have something to do later?”

“I just need to do some stuff for the student council.”

“Can’t you skip it? Just for today.”

It was a rare request coming from Hyomin. “Ok.” She looked at Taeyeon and was about to ask when she said, “It’s ok. Go have a date.”

Unfortunately, on her way out, their homeroom teacher stopped her to discuss some matters. Sica was worried that she cannot make it in time for Hyomin. She was thankful that the teacher finished talking and she ran outside. She saw him waiting outside holding a bike. “I’m sorry, the teacher hold me up.”

“It’s ok. We can still make it. Come.”

“I don’t know how to ride a bike. Can’t we just walk?”

“We won’t make it if we walk. Come on. Just hold on to me.” She sat on the back and hold onto Hyomin’s. She was a bit scared and also excited. “Ready?”

“Ahh!!!” Sica screamed when they started.

“It’s not so bad right?” Hyomin asked. She opened her eyes and she nodded. She can see the whole town. It was a really nice view. Hyomin made a few turns and they are back in school. Sica pouted she wanted to go for another ride. “You like it?”

“Yes, I can see the whole town. It’s beautiful.”

“That is one of the two favorite things I do when I skip classes.”

“I can see the reason why.”

“Let’s go we might miss it.” Again Hyomin dragged Sica inside their school. It was now empty because the students have left. They were walking when Sica stopped.

“Hyomin it clearly says restricted area. Do not enter.”

“Really? Now it doesn’t.” Hyomin flipped the sign. “I was the one who put it there so no one will come here.” He explained. “See? It’s not even locked.”

Sica can just shake her head. “I can’t believe you are asking the student council president to break the rules.”

Hyomin just grinned widely. She must admit that she also likes this side of Hyomin. He holds Sica’s hand waiting for her to agree. She nodded and he opened the door. When she stepped out, it was beyond beautiful. “We’re just in time.” He said. You can see the whole town and the sunset. “This is my second favorite thing to do.”

“Hyomin, it’s beautiful. Thank you for bringing me here.” Still holding each other’s hands, they watched the sunset.

 “Sica,” She turn to looked at Hyomin. “I want to share each and every moment with you. Will you be my girlfriend?”

“Yes. I love to be your girlfriend.”

The weather is already starting to get cold so Hyomin prepared a present for Sica. Since they started dating, it has been the talk in the whole school. Sica is the school’s ice princess. She rules the whole school being the student council president. While Hyomin rules every gang in every school….according to rumors. Outside the school, no one dared cross Park Hyomin or his girlfriend Jessica Jung.

“Tada!” Hyomin showed to Sica that he was wearing the glasses she gave him. “Here, I have something for you.” She opened it and saw a pair of handmade mittens. “I made them myself. I just thought of making something personal. ” Hyomin said shyly.

“It’s cute.” Sica find it cute that Hyomin knitted a mitten for her. Hyomin who is more housewife material than her. She tried it on, “See it fits and it looks nice on me. But why is the other one bigger?”

“Jinja?” He checked the other mitten and when he confirmed that it was bigger than the other, he laughed at himself. “Give it to me, I will make another one. Better yet, I will buy a new one.”

“Ani. It’s mine. I will wear it. See, it’s not that big.” Hyomin was really embarrassed with his gift. It was supposed to be sweet but it turns the other way around. Sica likes seeing the embarrassed Hyomin so she planned to more. “What to do? What if I like to intertwine my hands? How will I do that?”

Hyomin looked at her and had an idea. He removed his gloves on one hand and he took Sica’s hand with the bigger mitten. He put his hand inside and intertwined it with hers. He grinned at her and asked, “Better?”

“Much better.”
