Wedding Dress - Taeyang

Minyeon

The church is almost empty. I guess not much people come when it’s the middle of the day. It was silent and peaceful. It was too quiet that I can even hear every tap sound coming from my heels.

People come here to pray their innermost desire. Why am I here? I also have my innermost desire. I am so desperate that I came here to pray for a miracle.

Click. Click. Click.

I search where the sound is coming from. I found a guy with a camera. He is taking pictures in every angle.

Click. Click. Click.

There I saw him climb the stairs and still taking pictures. Didn’t he know that he is disturbing people? I look around if there is anybody else who is also bothered by the sound of his camera but I saw no one else inside but me and him. Well, he is disturbing me. Just when I thought I can have some peace, this guy comes here and disrupts it. Can’t a girl have some peace even for just a few minutes?!

Sigh. Do I really have to be mad at this guy? I’m hopeless being mad at someone who is not even aware that I’m mad at him. I can’t help it. I’m really on the edge right now. Sigh. I wanted to leave but where else can I go? If I go outside it will be hectic and chaotic again. I guess I just have to endure it for a while. The clicking stopped. Maybe he is leaving.

“Hi.” I didn’t notice that he’s right infront of me. Don’t tell me he came here to chat. I’m not in the mood.

The girl just gave the guy a small smile hoping that he will get the message.

“I didn’t realize that someone else is here. I’m sorry if my taking pictures is disturbing you.” He said.

I’m glad that you got my message. The girl thought while giving the guy an uninterested look.

“I thought they close the church during this time that’s why I thought it was the right time to take pictures.” The guy continued.

“Do you want me to leave then?” The girl asked him.

“Ani, that’s not what I meant.” He scratched his head. “I hope you don’t mind if I take some pictures. I’m just doing my assignment.”

“Assignment?” The girl asked. Why did I even ask? My curiosity got the best of me. Now I’ve just started a conversation. This one is on me.

“For my work tomorrow. It’s my first time in this church. I wanted to get the best angle for tomorrow’s event. I’m covering a wedding tomorrow.” He said smiling.

“You seem excited. Is it your first project?”

“Ani. I’ve been covering events for quite some time now. Company events, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and my favorite weddings.”

“You really love what you’re doing huh.”

“Yes, I love taking pictures simply because I get to capture that special moment and keep it forever.”

This guy is so… how to describe him? Innocent. Maybe his life is simpler and all happy.

“If you have been taking pictures and videos for events, shouldn’t you already know which angle to take? Why spend the day just doing that? If you ask me, you seem like a beginner. No offense.” Said the girl.

“Hahaha! Non taken. Let’s say I’m more of a perfectionist. Each event is special for that person. Like wedding. It’s two people who love each other promised to love and stay together forever. It’s a celebration of making a promise to love each other. It’s that one special day for that couple. And I want to capture each and every moment… that very special moment. So that they can treasure and hold on to it forever.” The photographer answered.

The girl just kept on looking at the photographer. How she wished life is like that. How she wished that weddings and marriage are as happy and special like this guy is saying.

“You might think I’m too idealistic. I know life isn’t always like a Disney movie where everyone gets a happy ending after marriage. I just thought that once in a person’s life there is this very special moment that he or she will want to treasure forever.” He continued.

“I guess you’re not as innocent and idealistic as I thought.”

“Hahaha. I often give that impression. I’m Park Hyomin.”

“Park Jiyeon. Nice to meet you, Hyomin.”

They both shook hands. Jiyeon thought that it’s not that bad talking to Hyomin. Now they were both sitting next to each other both facing the altar.

“What if tomorrow’s wedding is not like what you think?”

“Huh?”

“Maybe they were forced to marry. Maybe either one of them doesn’t want to get married to the other.”

“Forced marriage? Does that even happen these days?”

“You may never know.”

“You seem to know so much about tomorrows wedding. Are you friends of the groom? Or the bride?”

“Let’s say I know the bride so well.” Jiyeon looked at Hyomin. “What would you do?”

“What do you mean?”

“If tomorrow’s wedding is forced. What will you do about it?”

“It’s not like I can do anything. After all I’m just the photographer or the video guy.”

“Tsk. If one of them is forced to be there and need some help? You say too many things about capturing a very special moment in life so they can treasure it. Yet you’re not going to do anything.”

“What do you want me to do? Stop the marriage just because Park Jiyeon, who claims to know the bride so well, said it. And whom by the way I’ve just met.”

“Ok, you got a point.”

“Where is this all coming from?”

“I don’t know. I have a feeling that something will happen tomorrow.”

“Like what? Don’t tell me someone’s going to kidnap one of them?”

“If the bride escapes the wedding, what will you do?”

“…”

“You’re not going to do anything? I can’t believe you’re not even going to help her.”

“Woah. Woah. Why am I the bad guy suddenly? Okay, let’s say that she is forced to marry this groom tomorrow. If she escapes, I’m pretty sure she can get away. She has friends who will help her. You’re friends with the bride, I’m sure you’ll help her.”

“I didn’t say I’m friends with the bride. I said I know the bride so well. Anyway, what if her parents and the groom’s friends stopped her?”

“She can just run as fast as she can. Remove her stilettos and run!”

“It could be freezing cold and you expect her to run? She’ll get caught.”

“She can call a taxi and escape.”

“What is she still get caught because of traffic jam?”

Hyomin thought hard. It’s like they are both playing a game of ‘Help the Bride escape’. Hyomin will say a suggestion and Jiyeon will counter a reason how the bride will get caught.

“Out of ideas?”

“No. I’m sure she’ll escape this time. She can ride my motorcycle. I’m pretty sure most guests will be riding cars. It’s fast and she can avoid traffic jam. At least she does not have to run barefoot in cold weather.”

“Nice idea. But what if she never ride a motorcycle before, hence, doesn’t know how to drive it? And the keys?”

“Hmm… then she’ll have to find me. I’ll drive her away and help her escape.”

“She does not even know you are the owner of the motorcycle how can she ask for you? It’s not like she’ll make such announcement like ‘Who owns the motorcycle? Please help me escape this wedding’.”

Hyomin laugh making Jiyeon laugh as well. They were alone in the church so no one was telling them to be quiet.

“Well, you know the bride so well. I guess you can help her by pointing me to her.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

WEDDING DAY

Hyomin came an hour early together with his assistant. They set up the video camera in front of the altar, another one by the stairs, and one each on either sides of the altar. Not to mention, the video camera that his assistant will be holding. Hyomin is holding two cameras himself. He is incharge of taking pictures. Later on he will do the editing for the couple.

After he set up everything, he thought of Jiyeon and smiled. I guess I will be seeing her again today. He smiled remembering their conversation yesterday. Then he looked at his equipment he just set up. What if what she say happened? My preparations will all go to waste. Maybe I shouldn’t put so much effort on this then. But what if nothing happens? Then I might deliver a crappy job and lose lots of projects. I can’t let that happen.

Hyomin went to talk to the wedding coordinator. He had never met the bride and groom and only met with the coordinator. It’s because the couple has entrusted everything to their wedding coordinator. And everytime they will talk it’s always ‘the bride’ ‘the groom’. He thought this people must be high profile or celebrities. Nevertheless, he has to do his best to get more projects in the future.

The guests started to come in. they all dress very well. Click. Click. Hyomin wondered when Jiyeon will appear. The groom arrived and everyone greeted him and his parents. Hyomin took pictures. The coordinator then introduced him to the groom and his family.

“I’m Park Hyomin. I’ll be in charge of your photos and videos.”

“Nice to meet you Hyomin. I’m Myung Soo. I heard great works you’ve done.”

“Thank you. I’ll do my best to capture the best moments of this event.”

He seems to be a nice guy. What if what she says happen? What if the bride does escape and asked for his motorcycle? I did promise to help the bride. What if Jiyeon took my word seriousy? He shook his head to get the thought out of his head.

“The bride is here. Everyone! Take your places.” Announce by the coordinator.

Hyomin sends his assistant to take a few pictures of the bride. He was still scanning the crowd. This Park Jiyeon has really messed my head. I might be worrying over nothing. Besides she has not arrived yet so maybe she’s just messing around yesterday.

“The wedding is about to start. Places, everyone.” The coordinator announced.

Okay! Focus Hyomin. Fighting!

Everyone started marching on the aisle. Click. Click. Click. Hyomin took pictures and his assistant took the video.

Everyone stood up. All can’t wait to see the beautiful bride. The door was closed. Click. Click. They opened the door. Click. And there she is. The bride in her beautiful wedding dress.

Park Jiyeon.

 Jiyeon is the bride.

The bride looked at the still shocked photographer and gave a small smile before she walked down the aisle.

“Hyomin ssi! Hyomin ssi!” the coordinator was hissing calling the photographer’s attention who just stood there staring at the bride. Hyomin looked at the coordinator. “What are you doing?! Pictures! Take pictures!!” she said frustrated.

“Ohh yeah. Mianhe.” Hyomin said. He let out a small smile and shook his head. Park Jiyeon, why do you keep messing with my head?

After Minyeon's Japan vacation and seeing lots of Minyeon moments, I said I have to write something. I'm trying to come up with a story... For now, please enjoy this. It's really influenced by Taeyang's Wedding Dress.

There are also lots of great Minyeon stories and great stories (though I only read Hyomin stories hehe). I'm becoming an active reader now. :D
