Prom season. Ugh. .

“I already have a date,” Baekhyun announced proudly. “Jung Eunji. Junior.” He showed us a picture of her on his phone.

“Whoa. She’s pretty,” Kai commented. “I approve.” He was going with some girl he met at Chanyeol’s dad’s country club last summer.

People were already matching up with their desired dates. It was our senior prom after all and no one just wanted to settle. A couple of guys have already asked me about going with them but I made it clear that I wasn’t interested.

I could’ve gotten a date easy. But it wasn’t the boy I wanted.

“Yoojung,” Chanyeol said to me. “You should ask Sehun to go with you.” Of course he knew exactly what I was thinking.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. We haven’t talked since Neon Lights.”

“And you haven’t stopped thinking about him since Neon Lights.”

Ok that may or may not be true.

“C’mon Yoojung, go for it,” Chanyeol encouraged. “You deserve the perfect prom with the date of your dreams.”

Chanyeol put a finger to his chin, thinking. “You know, that case still haunts me. Something fishy definitely happened that night. You weren’t in your right mind.”

Chanyeol’s eyes then turned over to Taekwoon and Hyeri, who had been canoodling under a tree. “Yoojung, are you free after school today?”

“Yeah. Why?”

“We’re going back to Vivera. I need to check out some CCTV footage.”

“Chanyeol seriously, what the hell are we doing back here?”

Chanyeol was talking to a security guard, asking if we could look at the security cameras from that night.

“Yoojung, you know when if there’s a math problem that I can’t figure out, then I can’t sleep/function until I solve it?”

“Yeah.”

“Well same goes to this. Hyeri and Taekwoon were both there at Neon Lights. I saw them chatting by the bar about an hour after you left with Sehun. They are awfully suspicious.” We were going up the stairs now to the CCTV room.

“Okay so what?” I asked.

“Yoojung,” Chanyeol said. “The only reason you’re brooding this whole Sehun thing is because you think you screwed up. The only reason he broke things off with you is because he thought that you couldn’t stay committed, that you got out of control. If we can prove that you weren’t in your right mind the night of Neon Lights, then we can also prove that you can stay committed to him.”

“But will this win Sehun back to me?”

Chanyeol shrugged. “It might.”

The security guard showed us a couple tapes, then we came across one conveniently perched by the alley where Taekwoon, Hyeri, and Jonghyun had been talking.
