Epilogue
Fall For YouEpilogue
Ever since they got married a year ago and had their first baby two months back, Kim couldn’t help but lie awake at night, resting her head against his chest and hear his heart beat and remember all those past moments that brought them here.
She would smile at the memory when she tried to trick him into giving him the wrong house number, quietly laughed to herself when she would remember all those times he read her mind and kept his secrets, and even cry when she thought about the one night that almost broke them. But she remained thankful for everything that happened because it brought her to this moment – sleeping in the arms of the one man she could only be with.
Kim was finally able to close her eyes and drift to sleep when the baby monitor jerked her awake. She lifted her head and looked at the clock – 2:12AM. It became a routine for their little daughter to wake her up 2 in the morning, and Kim thought that her two month old child already had a vendetta against her. She sat up, but was stopped by Gerald’s hand. “I got her.” He whispered, and slowly pushed her back down and kissed her before walking out.
As she lied in bed, she watched the baby monitor and heard Gerald pick her up, “Hello Princess.” She smiled at the love and care she could hear in his voice, the same way he spoke to her.
Five minutes later, Kim got up, took her robe and put it on and walked towards the nursery. She couldn’t help but smile when she heard him singing. All she could do was watch him. He was holding their baby close to his chest in his arms rocking her back and forth, back and forth. She could see their little Mya’s face stretching in his arms, yawning and then ending in a smile.
His face turned to look at her. “Hey, my second favourite girl.”
Kim walked in with her arms crossed on her chest, “Second favourite?” She sat beside him, and with one arm, he put it around Kim. She brushed the side of her daughter’s cheek with her finger and Mya reacted immediately with a smile.
Gerald chuckled, “Sorry hon, but can you look at that face? She’s more beautiful than an angel. We did good,” he raised his hand.
Kim laughed and gave him a high five. She rested her head on his shoulder as she cuddled against his muscular build. Kim stretched her neck and kissed the side of his throat. “I do have to admit, we did do a really good job with this one.” Mya closed her eyes, “She has your eyes.”
“And she has your mouth,” he laughed. “Why do you think she keeps waking up in the middle of the night? She already has something to say.”
“Do you think...she has your...abilities?” She asked, suddenly worrying.
Gerald shook his head, and smoothed the furrow between her brows. “Don’t worry yourself, baby. Nothing can ruin our perfect little family with what we got.”
“I love you,” she whispered. “I love you so much.”
Gerald smiled, “And I love you too.” He looked down at their little child together and he bowed down to kiss her tiny forehead. “And we al lived happily ever after.”
