Our Love Story

Hayoung's point of view

" What are we going to do about Kwangmin?" My voice was apologetic, afraid of the thought of hurting him. Unable to speak, Youngmin was silent as the chilling breeze wrapped around my left hand, unaffecting my right, which was safely wrapped around his.

After a long moment, I spoke. " I have to tell him." Youngmin's grip tightened around me nervously. " Are you sure you don't want me to do it?" He offered. " He's my brother. I know how to deal with him." Shaking my head, I refused. " No... I can't keep running away. I have to be the one to do it... I own him that much."

Slowly, images of these past months with Kwangmin appeared in my mind like a grainy silent film. It pained me to imagine his expression when I would tell him that I had chosen Youngmin, that it has always been him. Besides the difficulty of telling Kwangmin, I didn't know how I would be able to explain it to the others. I knew Joori would begin a frenzy, flooding me with questions that I may or may not have answers to. Why did things have to be so complicated? Why were there so many gray areas? Why couldn't it just be black and white?

"Lets do it together." Youngmin suggested. Looking up at him, I smiled, glad to have him by my side. " Its strange.... we're really a couple now." I mumbled, embarrassed yet fasinated. I remember just a few months ago, I had felt so helpless and so sure that we would never work out, so to be this close, this sure, was a miracle.

"Tonight, when we get to the inn...let's tell the members. Dong Hyun hyung has already been suspicious of us for a while now, and I think it's time to stop leaving the others in the dark." Biting my lip nervously, I thought of Joori's possible explosive excitement. " Im not sure how they'll take it though..."

Suddenly, Mr. Yong appeared from inside the house, calling us in. " The car is here!" Looking at each other, we both smiled wearily, not knowing what to expect tonight.

Kwangmin's point of view

Lounging in the lobby, I relaxed on a comfortable khaki woven chair, trying to block out Marie's pointless chatter on her cell. We were already done with filming an hour ago, but Youngmin and Hayoung were still with Mr. Yong at their set site. Sighing, I wondered why nothing worked out for me. Opportunities for those two to become closer continued to arise, leaving me more and more unable to keep up. It wasn't fair...

"I just got off the phone with Hayoung. They'll be here in an hour." Joori announced happily. " Did you buy the fireworks, Jeongmin?" Dong Hyun asked, coming in behind Joori. " Yeah, but I had to walk forever to find the closest supermarket." He pointed at the dozen mosquito bites on his legs. Minho rolled his eyes at his exaggerated bickering. " It wasn't that bad. I got there in fifteen minutes." Jeongmin scoffed, " Yeah, because you went by car! You couldn't even lend me a ride?" He yelled.

Minho laughed mockingly, shrugging. " It's a new car, I didn't want to spoil it by letting you in it." Raising a fist, Jeongmin lunged at him, but was held back by Seongmin. " Calm down, he's only kidding." Muttering in a small voice so only I could hear, Minho mumbled. " As if..." Chuckling, I bit my lip to hide my laughter. Suddenly, Sung Mi sat across from me, holding a dark green book. " Anybody interested in what Hayoung looked like in middle school?"

The members quickly huddled around the low coffee table, intrigued. I too couldn't help but wonder what Hayoung was like in the past. " Is that the school's yearbook?" Minho asked, pointing at the worn out dark green cover. Nodding, she flipped to the first page. " Yup, this was our eighth year in spring. Hayoung was our student council president that year."

"Eh?" Joori exclaimed, surprised. " I'm not sure how she is now at your school, but in our school, not only did she excel in academics, but she was also the star athletic, and leader of the music department." Sung Mi grinned, proud of her best friend. " Ah, found it!" She laid the book out on the table, revealing a class photo of her with long black hair, and milky white skin. Even in middle school, she had a presence that outshined the others.

" You should have seen how many letters and presents she would get in her locker everyday from her admirers!" Sung Mi's eyes beamed in excitement. I wasn't surprised to her of her popularity. Even country folk can recognize a beautiful girl.

"What are you guys doing?" I recogznied a soft, whimsical voice behind me. Facing the source, I met Hayoung's and Youngmin's curious gaze. " Is that...Oh my god!" Hayoung's eyes grew wide as she recognized her old class photo on the table.

Hayoung's point of view

" We're here." The car pulled up to the inn as Mr. Yong announced our arrival. Without knowing it, I had fallen asleep on Youngmin's shoulder, still holding his hand. Gently waking up Youngmin, his eyes slowly opened, surprising me. Usually it would have been very difficult to wake Youngmin up once he was asleep. " We are at the hotel."

Yawning, he stretched his arms as he climbed out of the van, helping me get off afterwards. "You guys worked hard tonight, good job." Mr. Yong complimented. " Same to you. See you tomorrow morning." Youngmin and I watched the car pull out slowly out of the gravel, and towards the other side of the inn where Mr. Yong and Mr. Kwang were staying.

Remembering the conversation I had with Joori before leaving the site, I told Youngmin that the others were at the lobby. " Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked, smiling. Hesistant I first, I took a deep breath. " Yes, I couldn't be more sure." Gently, fixing my bangs, he grinned at me in a cheerful manner.

" Welcome back, Mr. Jo and Ms. Na." The receptionist greeted us kindly once we entered the warm ryoko. The sound of familar giggling and laughing echoed behind us, as we found the others all hundled around a low table, staring at something. Curious, we approached them, wondering what was causing all the excitement. " Hey-" A dark green book laid out on the wooden table caught my attention as I recognized the yearbook of my eight grade year. " Is that... Oh my god!" I gasped, horrified to see my class photo clearly.

"Unnie! Your back!" Joori hollered in excitement. " Calm down, Hayoung. It's just our middle school graduation photo." Sung- Mi tried to defend herself. Before I could take the book, she pulled it out of my hands, hiding behind Minho. " Wait till I get my hands on you!" I tried to get the book again, but missed by a centimeter. " Ok, ok! I give up!" Sung Mi surrendered once I cornered her to a wall. " Hand it over." I demanded, waving my finger towards her.

Pouting, she placed the book regretfully in my hands. Her friendly and warm eyes smiled happily as we stared at each other, suddenly bursting into laughter. " I can't believe you still have this." I flipped through the familar book, recognizing my past classmates. I stopped suddenly when I found a picture of me and her running in the yearly sport festival marathon where we won first place. " Remember when you fell down at the end of the race, and ripped the side of your sweatpants completely, so you had to wear your grandma's spare farming pants?" We both giggled at the thought of her most embarrassing moment which we find hilarious now. Sighing, I forgave her as it brought back forgotten memories.

Youngmin's point of view

It was like I was seeing Hayoung in an entirely different light. There always a sense of worry and concern in her eyes, but now all I could see was pure bless as she laughed along with Sung Mi, with tears in her eyes. She truly looked beautiful, her sparkling white smile gleaming with happiness. I too couldn't help but feed off of her energetic energy.

"Is Ms. Na here?" A women wearing a kimono entered the lobby, silencing the room. " I am she." Hayoung's expression became solemn again, wondering who this women was. " Would you please come with me? Ms. Yoo Jin would like to see you."

She stared at me briefly, before handing the book back to Sung Mi and following the elderly women. " What does the director want with Hayoung at this time?" Joori asked with a raised eyebrow. Biting my lip, I too wondered the same thing.
