Bang had never felt this nervous in his entire life. It was the state race, and just a few moments ago Bang was stretching outside in the giant stadium it was being held at. Himchan pointed out their biggest threat, a school called Mountain View, and that's when he just...paniked and left. Now here he was sitting alone in the locker room not knowing what to do with himself.

"This isn't you," He mumbled to himself. It was a true statement. Bang Yongguk never felt scared or fluked out of a race. Was it because scouts for Standford were in the stands? His father wanted him in Stanford, what if he lost and didn't get in. He let out sigh. Sitting here and doing nothing wasn't going to when him the race either and as captain, he had to think about his teammates. Him and Himchan have talked about winning state since they first started running track and now when the moment finally came Bang couldn't bring himself to take the challenge. There was a knock on the door before it swung open. Bang sighed. "I'm fine Himchan!"

"It's me, Danny," The boy said, walking into the light so Bang could actually see him. "But he is worried about you."

"Tell him I'm fine," Bang replied.

"Are you?" Danny asked. Bang looked up at him, both of them staring at each other as Bang decided what to say and Danny patiently waiting. Finally Bang dropped his head.

"No," He said in a heavy sigh. He could hear Danny's footsteps as the other walked to him and sat right next to him on the bench. He couldn't help but feel a little better with the boy he cared about right next to him.

"Talk to me," Danny whispered, his hand lightly resting on Bang's as he leaned closer.

"I'm scared," Bang finally admitted. Danny smiled.

"Of what?" He asked. "Bang, I've seen those guys run, you could win this in your sleep!"

"Yeah but what if I choke up?" Bang asked. "Scouts from Stanford are going to be watching me." Danny moved his hand to Bang's revealed shoulder and squeezed it gently.

"You'll be fine, Bang."

"What if I'm not?" He asked, turning to look at his neighbor. Again, Danny smiled.

"You know, when I was eight years old I met the most obnoxious kid on the playground," He said, talking with his hands as he exaggerated some of the words. Bang couldn't help but smile at the memory of a stubborn eight year old Danny refusing to play with him.

"He was just trying to be nice," Bang defended. Danny narrowed his eyes.

"He was being annoying," He said. Bang laughed and shoved him lightly.

"What does this have to do with anything?" He asked. Danny stood up directly in front of him.

"Well," He started. "Despite how annoying this kid could get there was one thing no one could take away from him."

"What?"

"Racing," He answered. "This kid was so fast that he was known as the Race King, and no one could touch him." Bang smiled, realizing what Danny was trying to do.

"Sounds like a fast kid," he mumbled. Danny grabbed his chin and lifted it up to meet his eyes.

"He was the fastest," He corrected. "And he still is." They continued to look at each, neither one wanting to snap out of the relaxing energy they could build around themselves so easily. Finally Bang stood up, takin Danny's hand into his own.

"Thanks, Danny," He said. The other boy shrugged his shoulders before rising up to softly peck Bang on the lips.

"Good luck, Yongguk," He whispered, walking out of the locker room. It was the first time someone other than his parents or his teachers could him by his first name. He had to admit, he liked the way it sounded coming from Danny's lips, especially after said lips were just on his cheek. Feeling like his old self again, Bang ran out of the locker room and onto the track field where Himchan was waiting.

"You good?" He asked.

"Hell yeah, let's kick some ." They pounded fists and Bang stepped off the track. Himchan was the first leg of the relay. All the teams took their marks and at the sound of the gun shot, took off. This was it. Automatically Himchan was in the lead, but when he got halfway through the lap he started fighting for first with a guy from Mountain View. Bang turned to Avery, the only junior on the team and the one Bang was going to make team captain after he graduated.

"Don't panic," He told him, assuming his role as leader. "Just do your best and don't stress if they pass you. Caleb and I will pick up the slack." Avery nodded his head and took his place on the track. Himchan slightly got the lead as he finally passed the baton to Avery. Bang patted Himchan's back as he made his way off the track, out of breath. As predicted, Mountain View and a couple of other schools were able to pass Avery, but the kid never lost his focus. Bang turned to Caleb.

"We're in fifth right now. If you're in at least third when you pass the stick, I can take it home. Ok?"

"Yeah," Caleb mumbled, his turn coming up. Avery passed the baton and Caleb took off, beating expectations and getting the team to second place, first being occupied by Mountain View. Bang took a deep breath and took his place on the track. Instinctively, Bang looked up into the stands full of people, his eyes quickly spotting Danny sitting with Brooke and Bang's parents. Danny caught his glance, smiled, and gave him a thumbs up. When Caleb passed him the baton, Bang took off. The overwhelming feeling of joy he always felt when he was around Danny was suddenly fueling his body as he easily passed the runner from Mountain View and continued to put distance between them. The crowds screams only encouraged him to keep going, not stopping until he finally crossed the finsih line.

"New record!" Shouted the person with the stopwatch. Bang grinned as Himchan, Caleb, and Avery all jumped on him, along with the rest of the team as the crowd cheered loudly. Bang felt like he could take on the world. He was in this moment of bliss when the school's cheerleaders suddenly surronded him with their pom poms.

"Bang, someone has a very important question to ask you!" The head cheerleader said into her microphone. Suddenly Sooyoung appeared.

"I know this isn't how it's supposed to go," She said, a bit embarrased. "But I need to do this before someone else tries to snatch away my champion." Bang just looked at her with worried confusion. What was she doing? "Bang Yongguk, will you go to prom with me?" The crowd erupted in cheers and applause and soon started chanting "Say yes" over and over again. Flustered, Bang looked around for a way out, but the distracting pom poms told him there wasn't any. The head cheerleader brought the microphone to his lips, everyone watched him.

"Yes," He sputtered, immediately regretting his words as everyone cheered again and Sooyoung wrapped her arms around him. Again, Bang couldn't help but look up to the stands, noticing the empty seats by his parents.
