what is infinite

Woohyun, Myungsoo, and Hoya had to film for a Nike video that day. It was an advertisement that Hoya especially was excited for; the others…not as much.

Woohyun sighed, rubbing his eyes. They had been filming since early that morning, and despite the amazing pictures that had come out from their hard work and the “absolutely perfect sky and lighting”, he just didn’t feel as if he needed to come to the set at 4:00AM for it.

Myungsoo walked past him and tossed Woohyun a water bottle. Now that it was the middle of the day, it was no longer cold and the sun was pretty much everywhere. Woohyun took it gratefully and drank a big gulp of water, before closing the bottle and placing it on the ground. He looked at Myungsoo, who was now sitting next to him. He glanced the other way, only to find Hoya on his cell phone, probably texting Dongwoo. Those two were inseparable these days, and more people were shipping them by the second.

Woohyun smiled bitterly, the feeling of jealously rising up his throat.

If only Sungyeol and I were like that…

***

Myungsoo closed his eyes and leaned back, soaking in the sun. He was happy that it was spring now. It didn’t even matter to him that they had to wake up early, there were these days when he could see some sunshine and it gave him at least one reason to smile on the outside.

However, his smile doesn’t last very long.

He heard Woohyun shift to turn towards him, and Myungsoo opened his eyes, wondering what the other could possibly be fidgeting for. Why couldn’t he just enjoy the sun and the almost-freedom they had?

However, seeing the serious look in Woohyun’s eyes, Myungsoo immediately straightened up and looked at the elder, knowing that Woohyun wasn’t serious all that often.

“Myungsoo, can you talk to Sungyeol for me?”

There was concern laced all around Woohyun’s voice, and Myungsoo couldn’t help but feel a slight pang of anger at it. Sungyeol was his to worry about.

            He furrowed his eyebrows, “Why?”

Woohyun sighed softly. He looked a little defeated, and it bothered Myungsoo a little because why was Woohyun thinking about Sungyeol all of a sudden? Why have they been so close lately? What did he do this time?

Myungsoo knew that he was overthinking things, and he knew that the day before was probably what was bothering Woohyun. Woohyun hated it when the members were fighting and even the smallest little argument could drive Woohyun crazy. The elder tended to overthink things and make everything his business.

Myungsoo glanced back at the ground, away from Woohyun’s sad eyes, because they reminded him so much of Sungyeol’s eyes, and he wanted nothing more than to have Sungyeol next to him and have Sungyeol tell him what was wrong from the day before and what Sunggyu did to bother him again.

“Why don’t you talk to him?” Myungsoo asked, knowing that he didn’t have anything else to contribute.

“I can’t,” Woohyun replied softly, and Woohyun looked so depressed that Myungsoo felt mad at how much care for Sungyeol he could see from Woohyun.

Myungsoo looked back up and swore he could’ve seen Woohyun shed a tear before getting up and walking away, and he scoffed.

Sungyeol doesn’t need pity. He needs someone to actually help him out. He has me for that.

***

When Sungyeol got home that night, the dorm was all dark except for the living room. A lamp was over there, so Sungyeol was able to make his way to the room with no problem. He was a little surprised with what he had found: Woohyun sitting on the couch, sleeping.

            Was he waiting for me?

Sungyeol frowned, remembering how rude he was to Woohyun the day before. He suddenly felt extremely guilty, looking at the dried tear stains on Woohyun’s cheeks, and he knew that Woohyun, who hated conflict even more than Sungyeol did, had to be the person he took out his anger on. He promised himself to buy something nice for Woohyun later, or maybe take him out at night to that nice park he wanted to go to the next time they went to Japan for a concert. Sungyeol always felt like he owed Woohyun something. The elder was so nice to him.

He exhaled softly, careful not to wake up Woohyun as he walked into his room to get a blanket for the vocal. He placed the blanket over Woohyun and chuckled quietly when he saw Woohyun smile and cuddle into the warm blanket, still asleep. If he had the strength, he would’ve carried Woohyun into his room, but after carrying Sunggyu back into their shared room the night before, his arms were a little sore. He felt weak and inferior as he stared at Woohyun a little more. Sungyeol knew he should go work out his arms a lot more, but honestly, he hadn’t been able to think much about the gym lately.

Sungyeol sat down next to Woohyun and got under the blanket with the still-sleeping elder. He looked at Woohyun and caressed his cheek, trying to wipe away the already dried tears. He smiled sadly before whispering “I’m sorry,” to the elder. He hoped that Woohyun wouldn’t cry because of his own stupid decisions again. He didn’t like being the reason for Woohyun to suffer and stay up late and he certainly hated being the reason for Woohyun’s tears.

He leaned against Woohyun, making sure that Woohyun was still comfortable, and slowly fell asleep, hoping that when he woke up, they’d be ok again.

            Goodnight, Woohyun.

***

When Woohyun woke up the next day, he felt something wrapped around him. He looked up to see Sunggyu, who had woken him up in the first place. Sunggyu had a finger up to his lips, signaling for Woohyun to be quiet. He then glanced down to see Sungyeol with his arms around him, and he wondered when the younger had come back the night before. Woohyun had been waiting for him for a while, and Woohyun was a little surprised that he didn’t wake up when Sungyeol had arrived.

As he looked down at the sleeping Sungyeol, he smiled at the fact that he was forgiven. He felt his heart fill up with joy, and he even forgot about the leader who was just standing over them, watching.

            “Sungyeol,” Woohyun whispered, “Wake up.”

***

That day was good for everyone in Infinite. The tension was gone from everyone, and the members could feel it. Sungyeol even let Myungsoo cling onto him in the car that morning. Woohyun was on the other side of him, resting his head on his shoulder again, and Sungyeol stared up at the leader, who was in the front passenger seat. Dongwoo and Sungjong were giggling over a new drama, and Hoya was on his phone, reading through some tweets.

Sungyeol was happy to have made up with Sunggyu. Luckily whenever the members fought or argued, it didn’t last long and rarely got violent. They had to see each other every day; it was hard to stay mad at each other for very long. They never fought over something big anyway.

However, when Sunggyu glanced back to check on the members, Sungyeol’s eyes moved to another spot, and Sunggyu ended up not realizing that Sungyeol had been staring.

***

Woohyun had noticed the looks that Sungyeol gave Sunggyu, and he didn’t know what to do about them. He knew that Sungyeol looked up to Sunggyu. He knew that Sungyeol liked to listen to Sunggyu’s voice, even though he would never admit it to anyone, especially not to Sunggyu. What Woohyun didn’t know was why Sungyeol covered everything up by being rude or acting jealous towards Sunggyu. He knew something was going on, but he was so afraid of finding out what it was.

Woohyun could tell that Sungyeol was just mad that day because Sunggyu called him a kid. He knew that Sungyeol thought that Sunggyu would never like a childish person. Those two facts should’ve been big clues as to what was going on, but Woohyun refused to accept it.

As he leaned on Sungyeol’s arm in the car, he burned with jealousy watching Sungyeol sneak peeks at the leader. It seemed like Sungyeol didn’t even know about his own feelings, but then again, it wasn’t like Woohyun knew what he, himself, was feeling.

What could he possibly say to Sungyeol?

***

After filming for Music Core that day, Myungsoo had to leave for a script reading of his new drama. Although he knew that he and Sungyeol were okay again, he couldn’t shake off the look on Sungyeol’s face the night that they had talked.

He didn’t like it when Sungyeol cried, and he didn’t like it when Sungyeol put on a mask for everyone else to see while he was suffering on the inside. Sungyeol didn’t have an ‘L’ to have back him up on days when he didn’t want to talk like Myungsoo did. Sungyeol’s character was funny and happy. There weren’t many times of the day where he could look serious and think about things except for at night in their room.     Sungyeol only showed his true self to a few people. Even fewer people have seen Sungyeol cry, and Myungsoo didn’t know whether he was happy or sad to be one of those few people.

Myungsoo used to think himself as lucky to have been one of the only people to see Sungyeol cry. It meant that Sungyeol trusted him more than anyone. But nowadays, it seemed a bit different. It felt like Sungyeol let someone else see his tears, and no matter how dumb it might be, Myungsoo couldn’t help but feel jealous at the possibility that Sungyeol had come to trust someone else.

What if he found someone else to trust more than me?

I know you're probably on a hiatus right now, but I just wanted to let you know that I really really love this story. Even though it's been such a long time since the last update, I still find myself thinking about it from to time and coming back here to re-read it. I don't know if you will ever continue it, but if you did I'd be super happy ㅠㅠ♡
