Fated Encounter?
Oppa, I Don't Remember!A month had passed since then. My arm was almost completely healed. I was living in my parent's apartment. They had reserved it for a whole year. It wasn't one of those expensive apartments with a beautiful view on the city but it was comfortable. The only thing which was inconvenient was that I didn't understand Korean. Not a single word. I had discovered some K-pop music on my iPod so I must have been a fan. After listening to their music I fell in love with it again.
That day I went to a nearby shop. I bought a few things I needed but after I left the shop, I suddenly got a headache. I wanted to hurry and get home but my headache only increased. I felt my legs becoming weak and walked to the nearest wall. There I sat down and suddenly I saw black dots in front of my eyes and I fainted.
“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Sarah and Niina! Happy birthday to you!”
“Now blow out the candles!” my mom told us.
“On three?” I asked my sister.
She nodded, “One.”
“Two.” I continued.
“Three.” We say in unison and we blow out the candles.
Our mother and father hugged us, “happy 6th birthday!”
“Now then, let’s cut the cake,” my father announced.
I looked at my family, I was happy.
Heavily breathing, I woke up. I was confused. Where am I? I tried to get up but tripped and fell on the ground. I looked up to ask someone to help me but everyone ignored me. I felt so helpless and tried to get up again. I remembered where I was. Don’t panic, you just have to get home, I told myself. I fell again. I felt tears coming up but I tried to hold them in. When I looked up again, this time I saw a guy, about my age I think, looking at me with a worried expression. He looked around and saw everyone ignore me. Then he made a decision and walked to me.
“Are you alright?” he asked worried in Korean.
That was too much for me to handle, why can’t I understand anyone, why did I have to lose my memories, why me? I suddenly busted into tears.
The guy looked at me with a shocked and confused expression, “did I say something wrong? Hey, what’s the matter?”
The guy looked around and started panicking, “hey, what’s wrong, did something happen?”
But I still couldn’t understand what he was saying.
The guy helped me up and led me towards a nearby coffee shop. He made me sit down on a chair and sat down on the other one.
“Are you alright?” he asked me again.
“I don’t understand you.” I told him, while still sobbing.
He looked at me with a confused expression, then suddenly took his phone out and called someone but I didn’t understand anything he said.
“Hyung, please help me! I found a girl on the street but she suddenly started crying and I don’t understand what she’s saying. I think she’s talking English, please help me!”
“…”
“Okay,” he said and seemed to hand the phone over to me, “English” he said.
I nodded and took the phone, “hello?” I asked a bit confused.
“Hello?” I heard on the other side.
Finally someone who talks normal English without any weird accent, I thought.
“What happened?” the voice on the phone asked.
I told him everything. About me losing my memories, how confused I was and what happened a few minutes ago. He listened. He listened to me without interrupting me. I felt so relieved that I could tell someone, it didn’t care about the fact that I didn’t know who he was and that I didn’t even know his name.
After I finished my story he said, “I understand, I’ll come over, just wait a bit. Will you hand the phone over to Jong Hyun?”
I nodded but realized he couldn’t see it, “okay” I answered and gave the phone back to the boy who apparently was called, Jong Hyun.
I noticed I had stopped crying. I looked at Jong Hyun, he was still talking on the phone.
“Well, what happened?” he asked.
“…”
“We are at the coffee shop Keopi.”
Author's Note
Hi, finally a longer chapter ^.^ and an appearance of K-pop idols!!!! :D Although the main character doesn’t realize it yet -_-;
Though most of you probably know, ‘hyung’ is a Korean word for something like ‘big brother’ used by a ‘younger brother’ or dongsaeng. You don’t have to be family to call each other that. When you are close friends the younger one can also call the older one hyung.
I hope you enjoyed. Please comment and subscribe!!
Thank you!!
