I bit my lip, trying to stop myself from crying.

I didn't mishear anything right? Ae Ri, who is that?

He looked up and was surprised to see me, "Niina?" he quickly wiped his tears away, "Why are you here?"

I shook my head, not being able to say anything. I just wanted to run away.

He slowly approached me, "What's wrong?"

I looked up at him,  "Who's Ae Ri?" I asked with a trembling voice.

He widened his eyes, "You heard me?"

I nodded. Tears started welling up in my eyes.

He hugged me, "Don't cry, I'll tell you but lets first go back to the car."

I nodded again, slightly blushing.

We quietly walked down the little path. When we came across a small bench along the road, we sat down on it.

Aron sighed, "where do I start?"

He looked up at the sky and started talking.

"We met when I was about ten years old. She was younger than me but always bossing everyone around. It didn't take long for us to become friends and I noticed I slowly fell in love with her. I was twelve when she suddenly confessed."

"Oppa!" I turned around.

"Ae Ri, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at school?" I asked surprised.

"What about you? Didn't you skip class too?"

"No, my English teacher got sick so we're allowed to go back home early."

"Liar, you're just skipping English right?"

I smiled, there's no way I could hide anything from her.

She giggled and ran towards me.

We walked home together.

After talking a lot we arrived at her house.

"Well then, bye, I'll see you tomorrow" I said and wanted to walk away.

"Oppa!"

When I turned around I could see her face was red but she continued with a steady and demanding voice.

"Go out with me!"

"Back then I was happy, but when I was sixteen I had to move to America because of my father."

His expression became sad as he remembered those times.

"Do you really have to go?"

I nodded, "I'm sorry Ae Ri, I don't have a choice."

Tears appeared in her eyes.

I put my hand in my pocket and grabbed ahold of something I had want to give her for some time already but for which I hadn't found the courage yet.

"Close your eyes," I told her.

She obeyed.

I gently took her hand.

"You can open them."

She did and her eyes widened when she saw I had given her a ring.

I hugged her, "I'll come back as soon as I can, please wait for me."

She nodded, "I'll wait," she whispered.

"We kept contact the whole time. But then, she told me she was coming to visit."

His voice trembled and I saw he was holding back his tears.

"What happened?" I asked when he didn't continue.

"The plane she got in, it... crashed."

What do you guys think of Ae Ri?

Oh, Niina is also learning some Korean words because she heard them a lot, like on TV or in k-pop songs. That's why she understood what Aron said at the end of the previous chapter :)
