When I opened my eyes my first impression was: White.

The second thing I noticed was the annoying beep-beep-beep right next to my head.

When I turned my head to see where it came from I saw a monitor, with on it, lines going up and down.

A hospital? I wondered.

I heard a door open and close again. When I looked up, I saw a woman wearing white clothes. Probably a nurse, I thought.

She looked at me and smiled "hello, how are you feeling?" she asked.

I looked at her with a confused expression. "I'm sorry, I don't understand you," I told her.

The nurse stared back at me with a blank face and then walked out the door. While the nurse was out I looked around. I noticed the sky was very blue, I've seen this sky somewhere before, I realized, but where was it again? I tried to remember but the only thing I got from that was a major headache. I decided not to think about it for now. The moment I decided this, the door opened again and a middle aged man came walking in and behind him I spotted the nurse from before. The man was probably a doctor looking at his clothes.

The doctor sat down on the chair next to me. "Do you know where you are?" he asked. His English had a weird accent.

I shook my head.

The doctor nodded and wrote something down on a sheet of paper. "Could you tell me your name?" he then asked me.

I nodded, that was an easy question. I opened my mouth to tell him my name was... was...

I looked at the doctor with a shocked expression not understanding how this could be possible. "I don't remember!" I started to panic, how come I can't remember my name? I should know, I knew a few minutes ago... Did I? No, I didn't.

The doctor seemed to notice me panicking and tried to reassure me. "It's nothing to worry about," he assured me, "having temporary memory loss or amnesia after such a heavy accident isn't considered unusual. Your memories will eventually return." The doctor was able to calm me down a bit, but I remained uncertain.

"What happened to me?" I asked him, "Who am I?" I admit, it's a weird question to ask but I just had to know.

"Your name is Niina Cole, you're from America and you came to Korea on a holiday with your family: your parents and twin sister. But you got in a car crash and were severely injured," the doctor told me.

I nodded my head, so I have a twin sister, that's nice. "What happened to them? My parents and sister?" I asked.

A bothered expression crossed the doctor's face. "Well, you see, we did everything we could but..."

"But?" I asked when it seemed like he wouldn't continue.

The doctor bowed his head. "I'm sorry, we did everything we could but we couldn't save you father and sister. Your sister died instantly in the car crash and your father was diagnosed brain-dead".

Surprisingly it didn't really affect me. That was probably because I didn't even know the people he was talking about. "What about my mother?" I asked him.

The doctor looked at me with a surprised expression. He probably expected me to burst into tears or something like that but how can I cry over the death of people I don't even know?

"She's in a coma but the odds are good, it seems as though she will wake up if you give her enough time."

I simply nodded my head and suddenly felt really tired. "If you don't mind, I would like to have some rest," I told him.

"Of course," he said and left the room.

I closed my eyes and immediately fell asleep.
