Her life had changed, differed from before. A fact she had managed to establish during the last week. Most people in her life noticed. Yoona was glad. Because no one could be trusted.
Girlfriends or siblings, neighbours or colleagues: all of them were liars. Yoona had no reason to put faith in them longer.
"Move," a brusque voice exclaimed.
Then, Yoona felt someone press against the ribs, forcing her rightwise. Meanwhile, the curved handle of the umbrella got stuck in some kind of fabric, grabbing and pulling the clothed stick from her. A waterfall of raindrops soaked her in a second: up and down, in and out. With her sole cover gone, somewhere among the rush of people heading towards jobs and meetings, she felt vulnerable.
See? Not even strangers were kind enough to be trusted.
But, the coldness was refreshing though.
Yoona didn't find a reason, but the feeling of being drenched was relaxing. Uplifting. Soothing. As though the nightmares of the last seven nights withered to ignorable fragments in the mind. Like she was permitted to close her lids, without seeing the monster she used to call friend. As if the skies let out the fountain of tears she locked inside, to build a wall of frozen emotions no one could damage.
With her lids shut, Yoona savoured the quiet moment.
She managed to cancel out the noise of walkers and trafic. The small vibrations in the ground beneath her feet was set aside before even noted. Crows among other birds flew above scrapers, making terrible sounds, became invisible. Not even the vile odor from a breath full of alcohol could awake Yoona. She was somewhere else. Far off.
