Han River
Checkmate"Wow."
Yoona had trouble closing . The enormous amount of light coming via the huge windows almost blinded her, making her squint tight. Sounds of her loafers against the seal brown, wooden floors echoed between the fair walls in the living room. A white marble fireplace with beautiful carvings and reliefs looked cozy and perfect for the long, dark winter evenings. The ceiling was high above her, and black sliding doors with engraved silver lines led to a petite hallway and the other, to a luxurious dining room.
"What's the first impression so far?" the male broker asked with a confident smile.
Everyone seemed to already know what Yoona thought. Her body said everything as she fumblingly took another step ahead. For some reason, her lips had frozen in open mode. Not a single thought was alive in her mind. This was wonderful, especially when all belonged to her.
"Is it a yes?"
TaecYeon looked at her. Yoona didn't notice. Instead, she was occupied with the most fantastic view of the river several floors down. She couldn't imagine how such a pearl existed, available for her to buy and move into. This amazing penthouse would absolutely be her future home. Without hesitation. Just another contract to sign first.
"Well?"
Mrs Ok didn't exactly veil her joy with a huge smile from ear to ear. Yoona wanted to please everyone, and most of all herself, but didn't want to settle anything until she knew every single detail about the bargain. Thus, she would understand what she agreed to.
Unlike the last time, she thought and peeked at TaecYeon.
He leaned against the hearth with one arm. For some reason, he looked troubled. Yoona had a clue of why. Simple enough, he didn't want to live here. With her. But he didn't have to worry. Nothing could happen. As they both loathed the other, they would stay out from each other's way automatically. Somehow, a silent agreement of a divorce rapidly after the wedding was promised between them. So, there was no reason for her to bother him and his life, and the other way around. Both had their own tasks and meetings to fulfill.
Still. Yoona felt a little sad by the imagination of a home with no love or happiness. Or children. Especially since this would be her first place outside the family house. How on earth would she manage quiet breakfasts and tense dinners together with a stranger?
Think of your family, she thought. That way, you'll get by.
Yoona looked up and met the eyes of the broker. She nodded. A faint smile brightened up her face a little, just to convince everyone that she meant what she uttered. Her eyes searched for TaecYeon. He seemed to approve, with sadness. His mother sighed in relief. So did their agent. One loud sound of a from a pen filled the emptiness. Now her future was as good as determined. Technically. Only a wedding left.
"Come Yoona," Mrs Ok said, "let's go home for today."
Reluctantly, she let the older woman put her arm on her shoulders. In a motherly embrace, they walked by the hallway and into a lounge outside the front door. TaecYeon was already by the elevator. He pressed the downward button when the women and the nameless dealer approached him. The group didn't say a word as the metallic box softly moved them closer the ground floor.
"TaecYeon, drive home Yoona, will you?"
"Mother, I have my job I need to hurry back to," he explained in annoyance.
Mrs Ok sighed, "Just do me and your fiance this favor."
In the mirror on the wall, Yoona could see the quest
