“Saranghae.”

Did Eunkyung hear right? She couldn’t utter a single word. Her mind was whirling and her heart raced at the words that just came out of Kikwang’s mouth. For a moment they just stared at each other, taking in the moment little by little. Finally Kikwang broke the silence.

“I love you, but…” Kikwang paused, and gently loosened the grip he had on her hand, letting it fall back to her side.

“You’re heart is somewhere else.”

With that being said, Kikwang could only offer her a sad smile. Eunkyung would have done anything to take away the pain she brought upon him. It absolutely tore her inside. He turned around and went towards the door.

“Kikwang wait!” Eunkyung called out, making him stop right in front of the door. She didn’t know why she was calling him. She didn’t know what to say to him to make it better, to make him his happy self again.  All she knew was that she wanted anything but for him to walk away from her like he was doing. But he didn’t turn around. Instead, he continued out the door, closing it with a soft thud…leaving Eunkyung standing in her same spot.

She had never felt so empty.

Time flew by after that moment. Eunkyung didn’t talk to Kikwang, only seeing him when it was the most necessary. Kikwang acted like his normal self with s and even with her when she hung out with them, as awkward that was for her and probably for him and Junhyung too.  The members were all worried for the three of them, not knowing what to do in the situation since it didn’t relate to them at all.

The relationship between Junhyung and Kikwang seemed not to have changed on the outside. But Eunkyung and all the members knew the strained atmosphere between them was bigger than ever. Eunkyung couldn’t help but feel responsible for it all. Yoseob had repeatedly told her that it wasn’t her fault, but he was always being too nice to her. She needed someone to tell her that it was her fault...but she knew none of the members would tell her that even if she begged.

“Everything will work out.” Yoseob told her. She had gotten fairly closer with him throughout.

Eunkyung hoped that he was right,

It was a quiet day in Eunkyung’s apartment. She lay aimlessly on her couch, daydreaming away. Junhyung would be coming over soon and she was just waiting for him.

She couldn’t help but think back to another memory of her and Kikwang.

“Hey Kwanggie…If I ever got a boyfriend would you get mad if I stopped hanging out with you?” The two were lying on the soft grass in Eunkyung’s backyard, looking up at the stars above them. They had just finished a class project and decided to take a break outside.

“What kind of question is that? Of course I would. Why do you ask?”

“Molla. I was just wondering.” Eunkyung didn’t quite know why she had suddenly become curious  of that particular question. The question had just popped up in her head randomly. Kikwang turned to face her.

“Would you get mad if I got a girlfriend and stopped hanging out with you?” he asked her.

“Ani. I’d find another best friend.” She teased. She heard Kikwang growl beside her and she giggled. He suddenly pulled her into a bear hug, knuckling her head at the same time.

“You’ll never find a better person than me.” He declared boldly, something he did quite often. Eunkyung wiggled out of his bear hug and settled with laying her head on his outstretched arm.

“That’s true.” Eunkyung laughed softly, looking back up at the sky.  “You’re one of a kind Kikwang.”

You’ll never find a better person than me. Kikwang had repeated that a lot back then, Eunkyung remembered. She now realized why.

He was telling her she’d never find a better person than him for her.

“You daydream so much these days.” A voice interrupted her daydreaming. She hadn’t noticed Junhyung slip quietly into her apartment. He now crouched next to the couch where she laid, his face hovering close to hers. He lowered his lips and kissed her tenderly. Eunkyung smiled at him softly, her hand reaching to Junhyung’s face as he smiled admiringly down at her.

If only he knew the sadness that drowned at her heart.

Gosh I really hate writing these depressing parts. -___- The story is well over half done I think...? Not sure yet but nonetheless, thank you to those who have been reading. i really appreciate the support :)
