Chasing the Wind
It was a warm summer evening. Baram felt the soft touch of the sand under her toes as she absorbed her surroundings. She was back in Busan again, by the beach where they had shot The Waves Will Bring Us Together. Next to her was a blazing bonfire, its flickering flames creating shadows around itself that twisted and curved.
Returning her attention to the bonfire, Baram’s fingers grazed the spine of her leather journal. Uttering words of farewell, Baram ripped out the final few pages, crumpling them in her hands and throwing them into the hungry fire that readily devoured them. The wind picked up in that moment, breathing more life into the bonfire, making its flames roar towards the night sky.
“Are you feeding the fire to make it roast as alive later?” Jinyoung joked as he approached the girl. “Or are you practicing your firebending skills?”
“I always saw myself as more of an airbender,” Baram mused, stuffing what remained of her journal into her bag since the leather cover would not burn.
“You must be the legendary avatar then,” Jinyoung gasped dramatically.
“Then I still need to master water and earth,” Baram frowned in realisation, playing along with the joke.
“We’re at the beach, got all the elements you need to practice.”
The two chuckled, shaking their head at the silly exchange.
“Park Jinyoung stop flirting with my girlfriend!” Mark barked from the beach house that Jaebum had rented for the weekend.
“Stop barking like a wild dog!” Jinyoung hollered back before turning towards Baram. “You’re boyfriend is too possessive.”
“It’s one of his endearing points I suppose.” Baram shrugged her shoulders, walking back towards the beach house, Jinyoung following behind her.
