Seizing the Present- 13
Chocolate & CoffeeIt's past midnight and Sangchul has been standing there for about 30 minutes. In the entire time he's been there, he hasn't seen his son lift that crystal glass of scotch to his lips even once.
In fact, it doesn't look like his son has a drank a single sip of liquor.
What has him so deep in thought? A little sound behind him alerts him to one of the house staff approaching him with a cup of that disgusting health tonic Joongi has him drinking every day.
"Later. Leave it in my room and I'll have it." Sangchul quickly tells her before escape inside the dining room. Once inside, he flinches seeing Minho's eyes on him. He probably heard him earlier.
"Why are you still up, Abeoji?"
"As the kids say, right back at ya!" Sangchul punctuates with a wink that does make Minho chuckle a bit.
Sangchul makes his way to the dining table and sits beside Minho. They both eye the scotch on the table before Minho pushes it away with no inclination to drink it.
They sit there in silence for a minute before Sangchul thinks it's a good enough time to speak. "Hayoung didn't come back with you?"
Minho freezes for a second before shaking his head. "She's going to spend some time with her mother..."
"what do you two do at her mother's place all day?" So that's what his father thinks he does every day. Good enough.
"Nothing much... say Abeoji... do you... or hyung... check on her mother...?"
"Not really... we assume the staff there will tell us if she has a health issue..."
"I meant... her finances... whether she's spending it on what you think she is?"
Sangchul laughs sheepishly then, "I don't want to... it could make you look bad to your in-laws...I mean it’s courtesy right? And what could she be really doing?"
It's Minho's turn to chuckle. His dad has unconventional ways of caring.
"Did you know Hayoung's mother isn't paying back the debts like we think she is?
