Chapter 21

My Private Tutor

Playing with open cards

I had just woken up, when I heard some really terrifying news on the hallway. I was still wearing my nightgown, my hair was tangled, I had bare feet, and weren’t wearing any makeup.
“Aaron Yan is on the rooftop! He’s about to jump!” I heard someone yell on the hallway. Without hesitation, and ran out of my door, out on the stairs, and up to the rooftop. Aaron couldn’t leave me like that. He just couldn’t.
“AARON YAN! DON’T YOU DARE TO JUMP DOWN FROM THERE!” I yelled at him, when I was at the door. He then took a quick glance at me, and walked one step closer to the edge. I did the same thing walking towards him.
“You’re the only thing I have left, Aaron, please…” my teary eyes tried to hold his eyes, but it didn’t work.
“But you hate me…” he whispered. He was now standing on the fence that was supposed to prevent people from falling down. How ironic.
“No, I don’t Aaron; I was just stupid enough to think so… Aaron Yan, you promised me that you would wait forever if I said this. I love you. Do you remember when we played the piano and sang together, and I told you that I gave up? That was because I was afraid. I thought that you didn’t love me anymore. I thought that I would become just like my father’s mistress. We already have a lot of history, but our book isn’t filled yet, Aaron; we can still write history. Come down here. I love you.” I said, with big tears in my eyes. If Aaron jumped, then I would jump too. My sister had committed suicide once, my father had died in an accident, my mother probably hated me, and Aaron was standing on a rooftop.
“No, Gui Gui, you don’t… it’s just something that you say to stop me from jumping.” Aaron said, and closed his eyes, probably mentally preparing himself for jumping.
“Aaron Yan, I won’t take no for an answer. Come down here, right now, and don’t even THINK about jumping!” I yelled at Aaron. Seeing the love of my life, almost jumping down from a rooftop hurt. I then climbed up to him, on the fence.
“Gui Gui, what are you doing? Stay down there…” Aaron looked at me with pleading eyes, but I ignored him and grabbed his hand.
“If you jump, then I’ll jump too, ‘cause if you jump, then my life will be the most pointless thing on earth. If you mean what you said yesterday, then you’re going slowly away from this roof with me.” I held his hand tighter. He sighed, and found something in his pocket, with the hand that he had left.
“Gui Gui… Will you marry me?” he asked me, and opened the little box he had just found. It was the most incredible diamond ring I had ever seen.
“Of course I will, silly” I said, and kissed him gently on his mouth. “Now, let’s get down from here…” I smiled warmly at him. He nodded, and slowly dragged me down from the fence. Then we walked down the stairs together.

“Aw, you’re such a cute couple” Hebe smiled in the cafeteria the next day, when we announced our engagement to Hebe, Selina, Show, Genie, Jiro, Chun, Calvin, Ella and Jolin. The most of the girls were busy staring at my ring, while the guys kept on congratulating us.
“Thanks” I said, and squeezed Aaron’s hand. How nice a feeling it was that we had gone public about our love. I didn’t understand why I hadn’t done it earlier.
“I’m hungry” I exclaimed, and looked at Aaron’s lunch. He gave me a smirk, and started feeding me with it, which caused me to laugh, and kiss him for the fifth time that day.
“Aiya, would you stop kissing? It reminds me of the fact that I haven’t had a date in two weeks!” Calvin said, in an annoyed tone. Show and Chun started taunting him, while Jiro was texting with someone… Until Selina took his phone.
“I love you too, honey? – Jiro, have you found a girlfriend without telling us?!” Selina asked him, and hit him playfully on the arm. Jiro suddenly found his shoes very interesting, though he once every third second shut me worried gazes.
“Her… Her English name is Albee, but all of her friends call her either Xiao Xun or Xun. She’s very cute, but also very insecure, ‘cause her old friends used her, and bossed around with her.” Jiro sighed.
“Wait… Albee Huang? From Taipei private Art High school?!” I asked him, looking terrified.
“Yes, the little insecure girl that used to carry your purse around, and get random insults from you about her hair. You know, when I met you Wu Ying Jie I thought, ‘oh finally a nice queen bee’, but then I met Albee, and she told me so many things about you.” Jiro sounded pissed off, as he ripped his phone away from Selina, in an angry way.
“Yeah, I was a typical y queen bee back then; would you please get over it? That’s what we’re taught to do when we become a part of the clique, Jiro. We start of by being treated like trash, and before we know it, we start being okay with it. When a new person joins the clique, we start treating them as trash, because that’s what we’ve learned. And those of us who become queens teach the new ones to do the same thing. Only people with an empty life can become a real queen.” I looked at him with fierce eyes. How dared he to talk about my past?
“Jiro, calm down, it’s true what Gui Gui says… We’ve all been through that.” Hebe said, and put a calming hand on Jiro’s arm. Jiro sighed.
“That system kinda …” He finally said. All of us nodded.
“Oh my god! I just received a text from my friend, who for some reason knows all gossip, and our school has a new student…”
“So what?” Ella rolled her eyes.
“Let me finish… Her name is Rainie Yang…”
“No way, she can’t be here; she mustn’t be here. Why does all the people from my past have to show up?!” I said, in a frustrated tone.
“Rainie made out with Gui Gui’s ex boyfriend at a party, when they were still together, so as revenge Gui Gui and her friend, Julie Cai called Rainie’s mother; Julie’s maid, and got Rainie transferred to an all girls’ school in Japan.” Genie explained quickly.
“Yeah, I remember that… I had drunken all of my sanity out, and yet I managed to punish them. That Rainie girl even called me a random school ” I laughed. Aaron then kissed me on my cheek.
“Ida tried to call me! She really tried to call me!” Show said, happily, and hurried to call her up. He then put the phone on loudspeaker, and told the rest of us to stay quiet.
“Hello, Show?” we heard Ida’s voice ask. Show smiled.
“Hi, Ida, you’ve been trying to call me?” he asked.
“Yeah, but you didn’t answer your phone, though…”
“Oh, the crew and I were just celebrating Aaron and Gui Gui’s engagement. You should see them; they look extremely cute together.” Aaron and I smiled at each other.
“Put me on loudspeaker; I wanna congratulate them.” Ida said, sounding happy, yet impatient.
“Sure – now you are” Show lied.
“Hi Aaron and Gui Gui – congratulations about your engagement!” Ida exclaimed happily.
“Thanks Ida, we wish to see you at our wedding!” I smiled.
“Well, that depends on the date; I may have to attend to one of my best friend’s weddings too…” Ida said, in an apologizing tone. “Show, can I talk to you alone again? I don’t wanna ruin the mood…”
“Sure” Show said, and pretended to put the loudspeaker off. “What is it that you want to say?”
“Okay, I don’t know if I should believe it, when Gui Gui says that you lying on top of her and Selina didn’t mean anything, but I know that I should let the doubt be on your side, and give you another chance.” – Aaron started to walk away, when Ida mentioned the incident with Show, Selina and I. Of course he didn’t know how innocent it was, yet.

We were looking at each other right outside the cafeteria.
“I can’t believe this… For one minute, I thought that you were different.”
“Aaron, please, just let me explain!” I looked at him with teary eyes. His angry expression then turned into a playful and very handsome smirk.
“Got’cha” He said, and started laughing like a crazy person. “Show already told me about the incident, and if someone lied about it, I wouldn’t believe them anyways. You must know that I both love and trust you, Wu Ying Jie” he smiled, and looked at me.
“Aaron Yan, you! If you don’t come here and make up for that ugly prank by kissing me, then I will be the angriest girlfriend that you have ever had” I looked him straight into his eyes. How I loved those eyes. I couldn’t even be angry at him for two minutes.
“Sounds fair, Princess Ying Jie.” Aaron said, I an elegant way. Then he walked slowly towards me, and placed a kiss on my lips. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Aaron Yan? What would you do if we suddenly couldn’t be together, because of the person threatening you?” I asked Aaron, looking deeply into his eyes. I had thought about it since he had confessed his love to me, but I hadn’t dared to say anything yet.
“Please don’t talk about this matter; I will figure it out. Trust me, Gui Gui.” Aaron looked at me with a couple of mesmerizing eyes. How gorgeous he was.
“Then I’ll trust you…” I smirked, and kissed him on the cheek. I didn’t feel assured at all, though.

I was sitting in Hebe’s room, talking to Selina, Ella and Hebe of course. The air between us was way less tense than it used to be. Right now, we were talking about the past, and admitting who had done what to each other.
“Okay, I’ve got one!” Hebe smirked. “Selina, do you remember that geeky boyfriend of yours, who did all your homework? I made out with him, in exchange for a biology report…”
“Oh my god, that was you?! He refused to tell me who it was!” Selina laughed, and hit Hebe playfully on the arm.
“I’ve got one too!” I smiled. “You guys remember when we drank together, right? Well… Aaron carried me back because I wasn’t feeling well, and you know… I only recently remembered this, but I kind of begged him to stay, and we ended up kissing”
“Aww, that’s so sweet!” Selina exclaimed, out of true cheerfulness. “I’ve actually also got one. I’m dating a guy that one of my friends has kissed, and another one has been engaged to… And who everyone thinks is gay”
“My god Selina, you’re dating Jiro?!” Ella asked, happily. All of us looked at her like she was stupid.
“No, stupid, she’s dating Andy Baker” I rolled my eyes. “And I’m actually pretty hurt by the fact that you haven’t told me!” I looked purposely sad.
“Well, we have to keep a little low profile, as Andy’s dad is famous and all… I mean, we have to know where it’s leading before telling the whole world.” Selina smiled. She looked very happy about dating Andy, which made us very happy about it too.
“I’ve got one too!” Ella finally opened up. “Hebe, I’m sorry, but do you remember the rumor that we were not allowed to mention? I was the one who started it…”
“Wait, you told someone that I slept with Show?! I thought that rumor was made up by a crazy person who didn’t even know about it!” she looked angry for a while, but then her face softened. “Well, I shouldn’t be angry; I made out with Jerry several times… And made him think that you didn’t love him. I’m sorry, Ella”
“That was you? I knew that Jerry had someone, but I never expected it to be you…” Ella then smiled and hugged Hebe.

The crew and I had decided to go clubbing that night, as it was a Friday, and we had a lot to celebrate. Ida had just arrived for the weekend, so Show had decided to bring her. Selina, Hebe and I were already a little drunk, as we had drunken a little before leaving.
“Selina, why didn’t you bring Andy? It would’ve been SO cool if you had!” I smiled jollily. I was always either very jolly or very drunk.
“He had a black tie even to go to…” Selina said, as she opened the door to the limo. “With a girl named Clarissa as his date, that is, as he’s stepfather won’t approve the fact that he has a real girlfriend yet.” She rolled her eyes.
“Oh, I’m so sorry sweety!” Jolin said, in an oversensitive moment. Selina and Jolin hated each other like hell. The rest of us stepped out of the limo, and got into the club without showing ID’s, as the most of us were a little famous… And having famous people in your club, no matter how VIP it was, was a good thing.
“Show, can you please by me a Gin and Tonic?” I asked Show, as I wanted to have a kind of private conversation with Ida.
“Sure…” he said, and walked towards the bar.
“Ida… You should know that Show never really cheated on you, and that you’re the only girlfriend he has ever been the interested in…” I smiled.
“Except for me” Jolin smirked in an ironic way. “Just kidding; Show and I were only together because my mother and Show’s parents kind of forced us to, as it would be a good way of promoting the fact that they were business mates”
Before Jolin started talking, I hadn’t even noticed her outfit. She was having purposely messy hair, wearing red lipstick (make that dark red – edgy), and as for her outfit, she was wearing a long light blue shirt, laced leggings and black stilettos. Ida, on the other hand, was wearing a cute purple dress that almost reached her knees, white leggings and purple flats. Her newly-cut hair was hanging loosely, as it wasn’t long enough to put as (it looked fabulous, though). She was wearing a simple and natural makeup. I myself was wearing a tight dark red dress, which reached the middle of my thighs, navy tights, and navy stilettos. My hair was filled with messy curls, and held by a navy headband. And then I was wearing navy earrings… I loved staying in just two colors.
“Here’s you gin and tonic” Show returned to us. I smiled.
“Thanks” I then looked at Aaron. “Wanna dance, love?” I smirked.
“Sure… but wait a moment, it has to be to the right song.” He said, and walked towards the DJ. He then handed him some money, and looked very strict. The DJ nodded like he understood, said something, and Aaron walked back towards me.
“After this terrible Lady Gaga song [sorry if this comment offended anyone] is over, we’ll dance” he smirked, and took my hand. After a while, the song ended.
“The next song is dedicated to a certain very beloved dramaqueen. Congratulations on your engagement, Wu Ying Jie and Aaron Yan. People, please leave the dance floor; this song is for a very special couple.” The DJ said, and smiled. I was baffled, when Aaron dragged me out on the stage.
Everyone was clapping. This was very romantic. Aaron looked deeply into my eyes, as the song started. It was hallelujah. Of course it had to be hallelujah.
“Follow my lead” he whispered into my ear, and started leading me, dancing the waltz. I couldn’t help but to smile all over my face… If it had been possible to smile from ear to ear, I actually would’ve done it. Aaron started to sing along.
“The minor fall, the major lift… The baffled king composing hallelujah…” I didn’t know what to do, other than just smile and follow his lead. I felt rather stupid, and yet I felt like the most honored person alive. I had the most perfect boyfriend in the world.
Before I knew it, the song was over, and Aaron kissed me gently on the lips. Then the normal clubbing-music started playing, and we sat down again. I spotted Jolin making out with some random guy, and grinned. Didn’t she have a boyfriend?

Apparently, Jolin did have a boyfriend, and somehow he had found out about what happened at the club.
“Baby, I love you…” she cried in the phone the next morning, though she was very hung over. “But I was drunk and weak after our fight yesterday, and then this random guy just came over and started kissing me… And I didn’t know how to reject…”
“It’s true! I was there!” I yelled in the background, while trying to get rid of the awful headache that I had gotten. I hated hangovers [who don’t?].
“Yes, that is Wu Ying Jie, and for your information, she was there to celebrate her engagement Aaron Yan. Now goodbye!” Jolin said, and hang up, still crying. “He… He dumped my. Gosh Gui Gui, I know that I have really messed up this time… I really love Jay!”

I was randomly walking around the school, waiting for my hangover to go over. That was when I spotted someone I had seen before, whom I didn’t want to see again at any cause. Unfortunately, she had seen me too, and now walked my way.
“Hello, Wu Ying Jie, my name is Rainie Yang. You probably don’t remember, but we’ve met before. My mother decided to transfer me from Japan to this school… Will you please show me around?” the way too familiar girl said. What was she doing here? I mean, I know that there were rumors about her starting at this school, but I would’ve never believed them.
“Yes, I do remember you. If I remember correctly, last time I saw you, you had your tongue in my boyfriend’s throat, which also means that I won’t show you around. And if you don’t leave me alone, I’m warning you, I will start rumors.” I looked deadly serious. She just gave me the elevator look, which made me do so too. I was wearing black flip flops, short cowboy shorts, and a white tank top. My hair was in a ponytail, and I was wearing very little makeup.
“Judging by your looks, you don’t have the power to start rumors. I mean, come on Wu Ying Jie, you won’t ever rule this school. I will, though.” She looked very confident.
“For your information, little -wannabe, our school isn’t to be ruled by someone, and certainly not you. You wouldn’t get any minions even if you tried to, as the drama has already stopped.” I looked at her with the cold gaze that I had used so much in my past. “And besides, if you even try to do so, I still have the ability to destroy you.”
“Watch your little dirty mouth, Wu Ying Jie. You better be aware of the consequences of messing with me.” She scowled at me, and left.
“I think I’ll take the chance.” I yelled, rolled my eyes and left too.
