CHAPTER 23: Memory

"Why are you acting like this? Is it because you dislike how others talking badly about your father? Then told them to shut up! Don't be here alone hurting yourself by smoking!"

"YOU! Don't think you know everything about me, Park Jihyo! YOU DON'T ING THINKING THAT YOU KNOW ME THE MOST! AND I SAID LET GO OF ME!"

With that, Mina unintentionally pushed Jihyo so that she lost stability and fell to the lake.

Mina who didn't imagine that she would make Jihyo fell, then screaming in horror.

Inside the lake, Jinyoung wanted to swim up, but he didn't have much energy. The water pushed down on him from all sides. The more he struggled the more disorientated he got. He pushed with his arms and legs but he could find no leverage, for all he knew he was pushing himself further down. Cold water filled his lungs and blood pounded behind his eyes. As the darkness engulfed him and he begged for a hope, he suddenly thought of someone. An only hope for him. He called the scheduler. Then he saw a figure coming closer. But it wasn't Scheduler. It was a young boy wearing a white shirt reaching out his hand. Jinyoung instinctively reached out Jihyo’s hand to take his hand, but Jihyo’s hand was a lot smaller. And slowly he heard a girl’s voice calling "Oppa.."

Jinyoung was surprised. It was Jihyo’s voice when she was a little kid. He heard it again, the little Jihyo calling out the young boy as Oppa. She reached out her hand as she wanted to catch his hand, but her body was going further and further. And the boy slowly disappeared from the sight. And finally Jihyo gave into the darkness and let the water take her.

That was when another figure came and took Jihyo’s hand.

Youngjae took Jihyo’s hand and lifted her to the surface. He lied Jihyo’s body on the wooden deck and checked the airway, breathing and circulation. Seemed like Jihyo was not breathing, Youngjae started performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation). He placed the heel of his one hand on the center of Jihyo’s chest and second hand on top of his first hand, and began to push it. But Jihyo was still not breathing. Then he tilted Jihyo’s head back and lifted her chin. He pinched the nose and started to cover Jihyo’s mouth with his. Then he gave 2, one second breaths before looked up to make sure Jihyo’s chest was rising. Fortunately, with only one try, Jihyo spitted out a gob of water and started breathing.

"Jihyo ya.." Youngjae directly called her.

Slowly Jihyo opened her eyes. That was when she saw a figure she knows the most. And the first thing she said was.. "Mina.."

Jinyoung was surprised to hear Jihyo’s voice again, this time was her usual voice. For a moment he thought that he already got out from Jihyo’s body because his vision was blurry.

But when it was getting clearer, he saw Youngjae calling Jihyo’s name to him.

Ah, I'm still inside her body.

"Jihyo, are you okay?" Youngjae asked again and Jinyoung nodded.

That time, 911 came. As Jihyo was brought to the ambulance, Jinyoung was looking for Mina. But even before he passed out, he couldn't find Mina in the crowd of KKU students who came to watch the incident.

The next thing Jihyo knew when she opened her eyes was when she already in KKU Medical Center.

"Oh, she has woken up." Jinyoung heard Dahyun’s voice next to him.

He also saw Youngjae. "Jihyo ya, can you see me?"

Jinyoung nodded.

Then, the doctor and teacher Kim approached.

"How are you feeling?" The doctor asked.

"I'm okay, doc." He responded slowly, and somehow he asked softly, "Where is Mina? Is she okay?"

With that question, Dahyun snapped, "Ya! How could you worry about Mina when she's the one who make you drowning?"

"Ya, Kim Dahyun lower your voice." Youngjae told Dahyun firmly.

Actually Jinyoung didn't have any idea why he could be so worry about Mina, but he couldn't help to think about her.

"Don't think about it, Jihyo. What you have to do now just take a rest. We'll talk about it once you recovered." Teacher Kim responded to Jihyo, but then turned to the doctor, "When can she be released from hospital?"

"We have taken the blood sampling and her electrolyte is good. But we still need to wait for the thorax rontgen result. And also wait for about 10 hours after the incident to check if there's no further problem. If there's no problem in the lung, patient can go home. Now just take a rest."

"Thank you doctor." Jinyoung said softly.

"Jihyo ya, I should go back to school now, if you need anything you can call me." said Teacher Kim after the doctor left.

"Yes, Saem. Thank you."

"You two should also go back to school. There are many nurse here to take care of her. Moreover I just had called her guardian, he must be on his way to be here."

Once Teacher Kim went outside, Bambam and Yugyeom came in. They directly approached Jihyo while calling her name. "Jihyo yaaa."

"Ssh! Lower your voice!" Youngjae told YugBam.

"Aaah. Jihyo are you okay?" Yugyeom asked as he stood next to Youngjae.

"How could it happen? I mean how can you and Mina go to the lake?" Bambam asked so fast as he stood next to Dahyun.

Yugyeom added, "How dare she pushed you to the lake?"

"She didn't do it intentionally." Jinyoung answered softly as he sat up with Dahyun’s help.

Listened to it, Dahyun argued, "How could you still defend her?!  We all know that she hates you."

But Jinyoung remained in his opinion that Mina was not wrong. "Don't say that, Dahyun.."

Dahyun was frustrated to the fact that Jihyo stubbornly still defended Mina. She yelled, "She almost killed you!"

"Kim Dahyun!" Youngjae called Dahyun’s name firmly to remind her to not make a fuss.

With that, Dahyun walked out the room in anger.

"She's jealous." Yugyeom simply commented.

But that made Bambam stupidly asked, "Does she likes Jihyo?"

"Not like in literally, you fool!" Yugyeom threw punch in the air to Bambam and continued, "You know sometimes girls are pretty sensitive."

Yugyeom’s comment made Jinyoung feeling guilty to Dahyun. He didn't mean to hurt her, he just didn't have any idea why he kept worrying about Mina.

"Oh! It's almost the class time. We should go back to school, Jihyo." Yugyeom said after he looked at his watch.

"Ya, can we just skip it again?" Bambam suggested.

"Do you want to get a warning letter again from Teacher Kim? We better go right now!" Yugyeom reminded him about the letter they got last year because their lack of attending.

With that Bambam agreed, "Alright. Alright. Jihyo ya, we’ll go, uhm?"

Jinyoung nodded.

"Ya, Youngjae, don't you come with us?" Yugyeom asked.

"No, I'll stay here." Youngjae simply replied.

Jinyoung held Youngjae’s hand while saying, "Just go, Jae. I'll be fine."

"I'll stay here." Youngjae told Jihyo firmly.
