Blind TiesThey stood beside each other in silence. Only thoughts were speaking in their minds. Taecyeon watched the numbers change at the the top of the lift each time they ascended a floor. Yoona played with her fingers as she wrestled whether or not she should confront him then and there. It surprised her he didn’t even bother starting a conversation between them. What was going on in his mind? She panicked. He reached his floor, her eyes followed his figure turning to the corner.
That was it. She was either gonna do it or not. With her courage mustered up, she caught up after him and grabbed hold of his arm.
“Taecyeon,” she finally let out her breath when she called his name.
He turned around, giving her his attention. “Yes?”
“I need to talk to you. We need to talk.”
“What is there to talk about?”
She looked up at him. “About us,” she made sure she said it in a whisper so no one else could hear.
Taecyeon stared at her for a full minute, glancing around to see if anyone was nearby. He leaned closer to her ear which caused her body to tense up. “Come with me after work,” he walked off after answering.
Yoona fixed the messy pile of documents on her desk after a long tiring day of work. She packed the stuff into her purse and shut the lights off in her small office.
“Honey!” she was on her way at the lobby but paused at the sight of her fiance. “Where are you going?”
She forgot about Nichkhun for a moment, remembering he can’t take her home for the night. “I’m heading off to meet a friend.” Who in this case was no other than Taecyeon.
“Oh really? Should I give you a ride then?”
“No, it’s fine hun. I’ll just give you a call when I get home.”
Nichkhun nodded as he kissed her forehead. “Be safe always okay?”
“Okay.”
Yoona waited until Nichkhun went off first before she could go to the parking lot where Taecyeon was waiting for her. She spotted him in his car waiting by the driver’s seat.
“I’m sorry I took long,” she slid into the passenger seat and secured her seatbelt.
He revved up the engine. “It’s alright. I know Khun won’t be giving you a ride home for this once,” he remarked bluntly.
She blushed at his sentence. Honestly she didn’t know what made her so bold to do this. She never intended on meeting up with another man besides Nichkhun. Did she lie to her fiance about meeting a friend? Well, not exactly because it’s true that Taecyeon was her friend. Just that to her personally, he was becoming more than that.
Taecyeon took her to his apartment knowing the fact that his father was on a business trip and he was all alone in the house. They passed through the doors after he unlocked it, showing her around the place. Yoona looked around his apartment quietly taking in the minimalistic theme of its interior design.
“Make yourself at home,” he said. “I’ll just be cooking dinner for us. Is that okay with you?”
“Sure, go ahead.”
He disappeared into the kitchen while she sat down on the long sofa in the living room. His apartment was similar to hers; simple yet classy. The interior lacked of color though which made the room appear only in dull colors such as grey, black and white. A scent of aroma wafted from the kitchen, raising her hunger.
“Ready to eat?” he asked.
She smiled back at him. “Yes please.”
Both indulged in the dish Taecyeon prepared, Yoona herself not being able to believe how good the food tasted. She praised him for his cooking skills, “Oh my gosh Taec, this is really good.”
He chuckled. “Don’t mention it. I’m glad you’re eating well.”
“One of the best ginseng chicken soup I’ve had. You should tell me how you do it.”
“No problem. I’ll share my secret recipes just for you.”
They placed the dishes into the sink and although Yoona asked Taecyeon she wanted to help, he took over washing the dishes as she could wait in the living room. He came back with two glasses of red wine in both hands.
“So what about us?” he offered her the other glass. “What’s there to talk about?”
Yoona twirled the liquor gently. “I’ve been thinking for the past couple of days. I’m really confused about my feelings.”
“Confused?”
“I can’t get you
