Broken parts and weird feelings

Should we act like nothing's wrong?

Her mother stayed at the hospital for about a week before being released and after one night in her old house, Soo Yun made all the arrangements to move to their new apartment.

Soo Yun had went back to university, this being one of the requirements his father had set upon her to keep supporting her and his mother. The seasons change and before they knew it, autumn had arrived; for her the last months had being an emotional roller coaster, but she did had her friends support every step of the way.

Seung Hyun had being kept on touch with her, texting her to check on her, but he had been slightly distant after this whole ordeal broke out. At first, Soo Yun blame it all on the stress of finding a job and what this situation could remind him, but later on, she stop looking for excuses, if she kept on lingering on to the why’s, she felt that she wouldn’t be able to focus on the now.

She kept reminding herself on the conversation that Young Bae and Jiyong had with her one afternoon before she came back to university and made it clear for her, that now she needed to finish her major, since now she wasn’t only taking care of herself, now she had to take care of her mom, since she was now her mom’s only source of strength.

That had made her determined to improve herself as a student, but the months had taken a toll on her. Every day she had to go to classes, get home, cook for the both of them, made the house chores, study and start all over again, since the doctors might had release her mother, but she was still struggling with her severe depression and her new diagnosis of fibromyalgia, that had her almost bed ridden at the time, so the pressure that was now on Soo Yun shoulders had only increased.

It was due to her running around that she had began skipping meals, at first it was inadvertently, she simply forgot, other times she was just too tired to even worried about her health, since she was constantly running around, after all, her attention was on her mom’s recovery and her classes.

Young Bae was in the middle of his gym routine when he got a sudden called from the university hospital. He rushed to the emergency room and found a dead sleep Soo Yun hook up to IV’s and with her right foot on a casket.

“Dong Young Bae-sshi?” a man in a doctor’s gown approached him and he nodded “I’m Doctor Park, we called you since you are listed as Miss Nam emergency contact, what is your relationship with the patient?”

“She is my closest donsaeng, what happened to her?” he answered in a mix of irritation and worry tone in his voice.

“Oh, she is ok, she fell down the stairs on the science faculty and she sprained her ankle badly, since this isn’t the first time she has suffered this injury, we had to put a casket on her foot in order to prevent the lesion to get any worse. Also she has a severe anemia, have you seen any changes on her eating habits recently?”

“Yes, she has being eating less but I didn’t know it was this badly, she has being under a lot of stress, but I believed she had things under control. How long will she be wearing the casket?” he replied worried, he couldn’t believe he had not seen this coming, how come he hadn’t seen this coming?

“Around 3 weeks, she will be able to go to classes as long as she doesn’t drain herself out and please ask her relatives to check on her eating habits, I don’t want to prescribe her yet with pills, if we can correct it with a healthy diet, but since she is showing signs of a slight malnutrition, she might be overweight, but that doesn’t mean that if we don’t take actions, we might not have any other choice” the doctor said leaving Young Bae by her bed side.

“Yun you babo girl, you are majoring in nutrition and you let yourself fall into malnutrition? You will be the dead to your patients” he said while her hair and taking out his phone to inform the gang.

Soo Yun opened up her eyes and was welcome by the sight of 3 heads looking closely to her.

“Hyungs, she woke up” Seungri yelled to the others.

“Yes, we can see that maknae, is not like we have gone blind” Jiyong said.

“Yunnie how are you feeling?” Daesung asked her.

“Guys, why are you all here? And why am I in my room? I thought I was on my way to a class” she replied slightly confused by finding herself in her bed.

“You babo girl, you fell down a flight of stairs and you seriously don’t remember it. Aren’t you the smart one out of all of us?” Jiyong said mocking her a little bit.

“That still doesn’t explain why I’m at home” she said trying to seat up, but fell a strong burden in her leg.

She felt a pair of arms coming to help her seating straight up, Young Bae.

“I carry your home since you weren’t waking up, you have your ankle in a casket, and you also are suffering from slight malnutrition and exhaustion” Bae said in a nagging but caring tone.

“Well, we will be taking our leave, we have already left some food, we will come tomorrow to visit you and your mom” the other 3 guys said, leaving the room, knowing that Bae was coming with one of his rants.

“Oppa, mianhae for causing you so many troubles today, I didn’t think I could be such a clumpsy girl” she said avoiding his eyes; she knew they were fill with questions.

“You need to take better care of yourself Yun, otherwise how are you going to be able to take care of your mom? You can’t go back to your old self, you know how much you have struggle to not fall down to your old eating disorders, and you can’t do this” he said and she could hear his voice quavering.

“Bae Oppa, mian, jinjja, mianhaeyo I just wasn’t paying attention to myself, I promise you to be careful of myself, please don’t worry so much about me” she said and grabbed his hand.

“How don’t you don’t want me to worry? You are the closest thing I have to a sister, I feel like we are practically related by something stronger than blood” he said and finally softened up his tone.

“Ara, Oppa, I know, you are the big brother I always wish I could have and you have outdone for my mom and I, in even more ways I could imagine” she said smiling to him, but the smile soon change to an horror look “, Oppa, my omma! How is she?”

“Oh, the lovely mood swings of Nam Soo Yun” Bae said and finally let out a laugh “She is ok, actually when I came carrying you with Daesung, she was rather calmed, I had sent Seungri first to let her know. When we arrived she had already cooked some kimchi jjigae for all of us, she is the kitchen right now”

“Wait, my mom is cooking again? Like for real? You aren’t pulling my leg Bae Oppa?” Soo Yun asked in shock, after all, it had being almost 9 months since her mom had last made a meal.

“Even if I wanted to pull your leg, your casket wouldn’t let me” he said smiling back to her and used his thumb to clear the small tear of joy that had escape from Soo Yun’s eyes “I’ll take my leave for today Yun, I’ll come back tomorrow, the doctor orders are to rest for the remaining of this week and you can go back to classes next Monday. I’ll let your mom know you are up” he said getting off from her bedside and picking up his jacket.

“Oppa, thanks, I mean it” she said with the brightest of smiles he had seeing her produce in the last months.

“Anytime Yun, for you, anytime” he said taking his leave.

Soo Yun opened up her eyes that Sunday morning, it had being almost a week since she had fallen flat on her and sprang her ankle. She literally dragged herself to the bathroom and cleaned herself up; thankfully she had taken a shower the night before with the help of her mom, so she decided to take it easy that day.

She changed her clothes and slip into a pair of sweats and a loose T, that day she wasn’t planning on over doing anything. She put her long hair up in a ponytail and made her way back into bed, eyeing the clock on her phone, 10am.

Soo Yun heard the door bell and was sure who it was, Young Bae, after all he had been dropping by almost every day, either with one of the guys or alone. The only one that shone in absence was Seung Hyun. She sighed at the thought of him, after all, ever since the whole confession thing broke up in between them, a part of her kept on wondering on whether she had made the right choice in opening up to him.

She was brought back from her train of thoughts, by a strong smell of coffee coming from the door, she look up almost ready to shout hello to Young Bae, when her eyes got fixed in the figure that was standing on her door frame, Choi Seung Hyun.

“Hi Yun, can I come in?” he shyly asked, giving her his little lost boy vibe.

“It was about damn time you came, get your in here Choi Seung Hyun” she said with a warm smile emanating from her face.

“Yes, sorry it took me so long, but hey I brought breakfast!” he said showing her the bag of food and the coffee he was carrying; and she couldn’t help but to remember that she had lived such a similar situation the infamous day she had decided to confess.

“Well, at least you are useful at something, even if it is this late” she said in a sarcastic tone.

He grinned at her remark, he knew she was right, because they both knew she wasn’t meaning to his late visit after her accident, but to his absence of the past months.

“So how is everything going? How does a babo girl like you end up like this?” he said taking a seat on her bed and dividing the food he had brought.

“I really should tell Omma to start screening the visits she lets in, I think bingus are coming through the door without knowing their rightful place” Soo Yun said retaliating at Seung Hyun’s words, starting that little push and pull game they always had going on.

“You dare call me, your Oppa, Bingu?” he said and took a sip from the coffee he had in his hands.

“What else should I call you? An idiot? An ? A selfish jerk? Trust me the list could go on and on” Soo Yun said feeling piss off at his presence in front of her. A part of her was happy that he was finally coming back to her side, but another one was angry that I had taken him so long.

“Ok, I know I deserve it. I know I acted like an , a selfish jerk and a complete idiot and a lot of more things. I can’t explained why I acted the way I did, because truthfully I don’t even understand why I acted the way I did; maybe I felt like it was taking a walk down a path I just endure, but it wasn’t ok. I hope you can forgive me for my stupidity and let’s leave it all behind. Can you forgive me?”

“Do you think I would have let you in if I hadn’t forgiving you already? You seem to forget I have a soft spot for you and your jerk of personality. Everything is forgiven, but I truly wished you didn’t have gotten lost like you do. I don’t want that the only way I get to see your face is only if I get hurt, ara?” she said and took a bite of the sandwich she had in her hands.

“Ara, I promise it” he said and took his thumb to clear the ketchup that was stuck on a side of her lips after she had taken that bite.

“The fact I just forgiven you, doesn’t give you permission to this amount of skin ship, you know? Or are we having a death wish today?” Soo Yun said trying to overcome the rush of emotions that that single touch had brought upon her.

“So even though you have a skin allergy to ketchup, you rather have a rash than me touching your face for 2 seconds?” he said back in his usual mocking tone.

“If it means not having your hands on me, I’ll take the rash, thank you very much” she said almost in a bark.

“Wow, why are you so defensive?” he asked, but deep down he kind of knew why.

“Because it’s my face” she said sticking out her tongue to him.

“Arasso, arasso…” he said and couldn’t help but chuckle at her actions.

They finished breakfast and spend most of the morning talking, catching up with each other’s lives, in so way it seem like time hadn’t past by and they were back to how they usually were, two silly friends walking through life.

After a lot of begging and a lost bet including a small dance by Seung Hyun using Yun’s crutches, they decided to watch the re runs of that years hit drama, King Of Baking Kim Tak Gu. So they got cozy in Soo Yun’s bed, since Young Bae had brought the tv to her room.

When they were around episode 6, Seung Hyun felt a heavy weight on his shoulder, he look to his side and saw the head of a sound sleep Soo Yun. After all, she had taken her painkillers just 30 minutes ago and they seem to be taken a quick effect on her.

Seung Hyun was about to throw her head on to the pillow, but something stop him. Something inside of him stop him to remove that warm and cozy sensation that he felt from her closeness to her, so he simply adjusted his position so she could be more comfortable and he could see her in a better way.

He remained heavens knows how long just staring at that chubby face, with those rosy cheeks, pink plump lips and a few strands of hair falling on her forehead. When he was about to clear one of those strands of hair, Epik High’s Run began sounding loudly on the room, making Seung Hyun panic and he tried to play it like if he was also sleeping.

Soo Yun woke up at the sound of her phone and picked it up, seeing that it was Daesung calling.  She was about to take the call when she realize in the situation she was just minutes ago, she kept on staring at Seung Hyun who began to open his eyes like if nothing happened and she simply ignored it and pick up the phone.

Seung Hyun on the other hand couldn’t stop the sudden racing of his heart beat and was surprised by the weird feeling that was fluttering inside.
