The party

Should we act like nothing's wrong?

October of 2009 arrived before they knew it and with it, the autumn leaves made their appearance through the Seoul landscape.

Soo Yun was struggling with her eyeliner, finishing getting ready in the bathroom at her work. She and the guys had being invited to a party hosted by Na Young, Seung Hyun’s long time crush and despite her reluctance to go, the constant nagging from Seungri and Jiyong finally made her cave in.

She didn’t even had time to made her way back home to get ready; since her boss asked her for some extra files that needed to be finish translated, so it was already 8pm and she had being forced to make due getting ready at work.

She finished checking up her lipstick and losing up her ponytail into the long locks of hair that were now falling below her bust line. After she had accepted that job, one of the requirements was to look professional, so she had to alter her outfits to be a little more on the feminine side and started to wear soft makeup again.

Soo Yun heard her phone ring and she didn’t even had to check to know it was Young Bae with the guys, who were there to pick her up. She made her way downstairs and outside the building where Jiyong and Bae where waiting for her.

“Wait, who are you and what have you done to my friend?” Jiyong said while checking Soo Yun from head to toe.

“Cut it out Ji” she said making her way to where the guys had park the car, completely ignoring Jiyong’s comment.

“I mean it! I mean… you are wearing heels, and a top that isn’t a t-shirt and makeup for heaven’s sake!” he kept on rambling.

“What? Didn’t you think I had it in me?” she said with a satisfied smirk on her face.

“To be fully honest, no…”he said and earned himself a punch in his arm coming from his best friend “Man, what the hell?”

“Don’t be an , what did you think she was, another guy?” Bae replied annoyed.

“No, but I mean, you look really pretty, like in a girly way… You were always pretty, but since you blew me off, I just push you a side… But if you want, we can give it another try” Jiyong began with his smooth talking again.

Soo Yun and Young Bae just exchanged looks and began laughing.

“Don’t hold your breath waiting on that one, Jiyong-ah” Soo Yun replied, finally getting into the passenger’s seat and Jiyong being forced to go to the back seat.

“It was just a suggestion, but trusts me; I won’t be the only one to say this… Just wait until Seungri sees you tonight” Jiyong said to her.

“Remind me again why are we going to this party?” Young Bae said after buckling up his seat belt and starting the engine.

“Because Seungri and Seung Hyun hyung have being nagging us nonstop about it, and hyung threaten us that we will hear no end if we didn’t at least make an appearance. Plus, its being ages since we all got invited to a party. And I feel hyung is going to make his move on that Na Young girl tonight, so we are like his wing men” Jiyong began rambling, while Bae just eyed the reactions that Soo Yun was having through the review mirror.

“Yupie! Another party where I’m going to get push to the corner since I’m surrounded by guys” Soo Yun said angry, but Bae knew damn well from where that was coming from.

“Well, you can always hook up with Seungri, but I will hate to see him having his balls cut off by Seung Hyun hyung, the minute he finds out he even dare to touch you” Jiyong said.

“So why are you safe and Seungri isn’t?” Bae said trying to change the topic.

“Because I will never let hyung know” he said winking at Soo Yun, who made a barf motion at Jiyong’s comment, earning a laugh from Bae.

After a 40min drive, they finally arrived to Na Young’s apartment building, where they could see Seungri and Daesung waiting outside for them.

“Holly mother of Jesus! Hyung’s who is she?” Seungri said when he took a glance at Soo Yun, her dark jeans and sapphire blue top made her slightly tan skin popped even more, and her makeup only emphasized her dark brown eyes.

“Hands off maknae, can’t you see it’s Yun?” Bae said.

“See I told you he would react like that” Jiyong said, almost wishing he would have bet money on it.

“Sorry Ri, I think I’m a bit out of your league” she said and gave him a little smirk.

“And now she flirts… Guys, I’m dead…” Seungri said overreacting as always, making everyone laughed.

“Where is Seung Hyun?” Soo Yun asked, after seeing he wasn’t with the other guys.

“Oh, he is already up. He arrived earlier and went up, he said to meet him there” Daesung said and Soo Yun simply nodded, but Bae could catch her taking a deep breath.

They took the elevator and after a few minutes they were at the apartment door. The first thing they heard was the pitch up voice of Kim Na Young, signaling the guys to disperse, leaving the two girls alone.

“Soo Yunie!!!! You made it!!!! I’m so glad you could come! Its being ages ever since I saw you. Yah! Gizibe, why aren’t you replying to my texts?”

“Mianhae Young, work has me crazy busy, but you know I wouldn’t miss it, is your graduation party after all, you are finally a license teacher!” Soo Yun said while honestly hugging the girl, despite feeling a sharp pain in her chest. She didn’t hate her, but a part of her was jealous of what she portrayed: looks, sparkly personality and a way to catch guy’s attention.

“Indeed, you being busy like a bee, but I’m really glad you are here, since I’ve being dying to introduce you to someone” Na Young said and pull over some guy in front of her “Soo Yun, this is Kim Kibum, my namja chingu. Oppa this is Yunnie, my friend that I keep telling you about”

“Nice to meet you, it’s a pleasure, I know Na Young can be a handful, but please be nice with her” Soo Yun said, being unable to say that phrase without a touch of sarcasm and a smile on her face.

“Yah! Jinjja this gizibe! See Oppa, this is my friend I told you that has a straight forward mouth and that’s what I love about her, although I wish she had a bit of a filter” she said giving her a glare.

“Gwenchana, its nice meeting you too Nam Soo Yun” the guy said bowing a little bit to her.

“I’ll come find you later; I still need to finish greeting everyone else! Thanks for coming” Na Young said and got lost with her boyfriend in the small crowd.

Soo Yun began searching for her friends, but the first place her eyes land on was on the lonely figure of a clearly disappointed Choi Seung Hyun. She felt her heart ache for her friend, but a small part of her couldn’t help to feel relieved at the outcome.

“Hello stranger” she said and could see him slowly raising his sight and placing his eyes on her, but that was immediately followed by an eye scan from head to toe.

“Yun is that you?” Seung Hyun said knowing his eyes weren’t fooling him, but after years of seeing her in vans and t-shirts this was indeed a change.

“Who else could it be?” Soo Yun said suddenly feeling over conscious on her looks “To be a senior in university, you sure are slow to catch on things, I seriously keep wondering if your mom didn’t dropped you by the head when you were a baby”

“Yes, indeed you are Nam Soo Yun, only someone like you could lash out like that to her Oppa” he said pulling her closer to him by her wrist, leaving a small gap between them “I really need to teach you some manners”

“Good luck with that, I’m rotten to the bone” she said. Ultimately sarcasm was her best defense mechanism when things began turning sticky for her.

“You don’t need to tell me twice… but you are lucky, I like challenges” he said almost whispering the last part in her ear.

Soo Yun felt a shiver down her spine and mentally slapped herself back to reality.

“Yah! Seung Hyun-ah, do you have a dead wish? How many drinks have you had so far?” she said pushing him away, breaking away the tension that was surrounding them.

“This is my first one, but it was nice seeing your cheeks flushing red. OMO, don’t tell me you felt for this amazing Oppa?” he said in a mocking tone.

“You wished, sorry, but you  are starting to sound like Ji and if you are going to be a prick all night long, I rather go smooch with Seungri by the corner, so if you excuse me…” she said and began to take her leave. She was scared he could see through her now and that her defenses where weakening.

But Seung Hyun took two steps and block her path, “Sorry, that was completely unlike me, don’t leave, common let’s talk for a while” he said, turning to the man she was accustomed to deal with.

“Thank God, I was beginning to worry that you had gone mental… So how are you regarding that?” Soo Yun said looking at Na Young and her boyfriend at the distance.

“Ok I guess, I mean I was interest, but I hadn’t fallen for her, so it’s all good”

“That’s a relief, I was worrying I was going to had to become your drinking buddy and you know I have a tendency to wake up in stranger man’s beds” she said and took a sip from the beer that she had grabbed on her way to Seung Hyun.

“Like if that was going to happen again, I had to wash my bed sheets that time to remove the alcohol smell from all your sweating” he said making a disgusted face.

“Oh please, that’s the most amount of action that bed has seen since it was bought” Soo Yun said taunting him.

“And how are you so sure about that?” he said closing again the gap between them and this time grabbing a hold of her free hand and entwining it between his long fingers.

“Let’s just said my 6th instinct never fails at that” she replied feeling her heart racing a 1000km/hr but trying not to show it.

“Keep telling yourself that” he said and gaze her straight into her eyes, giving her a small smirk.

Soo Yun released her hand from Seung Hyun’s grip and placed her on his shoulder, forcing him to pull down to her level and whispered into his ear.

“Stop lying to yourself Seung Hyun, the only one that has ever sleep on that bed is me and I’m pretty sure you can’t take that thought out of your mind and I don’t mean it in a bad way” she said letting him go and went to look for her other friends.

She didn’t dare to look back at him, she knew she had made a bold move but tonight she wasn’t going to regret anything.
