College ExperiencesRyeowook was incredibly warm, curled up under his heap of blankets. Despite the chill of the autumn night outside his room was perfectly toasty, snuggled comfortably under his layers as the heater whirred quietly. Ryeowook felt like he was in heaven, perfectly relaxed as he slept soundly.
A sudden blaring noise ripped him from his sleep, deliriously jumping at the screech of the alarm waking him. He rubbed his eyes, bleary vision just making out the the time was close to three in the morning.
More than anything he was confused, constant ringing not helping him comprehend what exactly was happening as he waited for him brain to properly wake up. He could already feel the headache incoming, blaring starting to thump in his skull as he tried to decide whether to wait out the noise or hope that with enough layers over his head the sound would be drowned out enough to get some more sleep.
He was weighing up his options, feeling his eyes drooping tiredly before there was a loud pounding at the door, Ryeowook jumping awake once more.
“Ryeowook!!!” Yesung called through the door, Ryeowook stumbling to get out of his covers to open the door. When he'd managed to twist the lock he barely had enough time to step back as it swung open towards him, a pajama-clad Yesung looking at him with relief.
“Thank god – thats the fire alarm, c'mon I need you to evacuate we're the last ones on this floor.”
“Fire...?” Ryeowook mumbled, letting himself be guided along by Yesung as the pair made their way outside through the back entrance, alarm still blaring.
---
Ryeowook was freezing.
Scratch that; Ryeowook was completely frozen, nose numb and toes like icicles inside his slippers. He hadn't had the chance to put any other layers on aside from his thin giraffe pajamas and the top blanket he'd managed to pull off his bed before Yesung had dragged him out of his room, cursing his heater for tricking him into thinking it wasn't horribly cold outside.
From what he remembered Yesung telling him as he ushered him out of the building someone had managed to start a small fire in the kitchen while trying to cook some noodles, letting it get so out of hand that the alarm had been set off.
He stood there, horrible shiver wracking through his tired body as he watched the firemen walk around the building. They had shut down the alarm when they had arrived twenty minutes prior, Ryeowook thankful that at least if he was going to freeze to death out here he would do so in relative peace.
He felt someone tap his shoulder, Ryeowook whirling around sluggishly to find Kyuhyun looking down at him, the other surprisingly awake as he frowned.
“Wook are you alright?”
Ryeowook shrugged, not even bothering to hide his tiredness.
“Not really, considering some jerk with the skills of a caveman managed to not only wake me up, but force me to be out here in the freezing cold ready to pass out! I was supposed to be up again at eight to finish working on my comp assignment.” Ryeowook muttered, closing his eyes tiredly. “Whoever managed to pull this off better hope I don't find them.”
“Ha ha... yeah.” Kyuhyun replied awkwardly, Ryeowook's eyes snapping open to see the odd smile adorning the others face.
“What's with that.”
“With what?” Kyuhyun squeaked.
“That weird smile on your face... how are you so awake anyway? Yesung I understand but you wouldn't wake up even if the world was endi--” Ryeowook paused, sobering quickly as he stared at Kyuhyun, the taller squirming under his gaze.
Ryeowook huffed, feeling the thumping in his head start to return as he glared angrily up at the other.
“...you didn't.” he growled.
“Oops?”
Yesung had to drag a furious Ryeowook away from Kyuhyun to stop him from jumping down his throat, the smallers screaming gaining that attention of nearly everyone that was stood out on the grass.
---
It was late the next morning when Ryeowook finally woke up, groaning at the expected headache hit him. It had been nearly four thirty in the morning when the firemen had finally allowed them back into the building, although Ryeowook admittedly remembered very little after Yesung had managed to separate him from Kyuhyun, anger quickly draining to exhaustion.
Frowning at the memory of yelling at the other boy Ryeowook quickly got dressed, deciding to hunt the other down to officially apologise for his crankiness at being woken up last night.
When he was ready he opened his door, surprised to find a bright orange ball of fluff sitting just outside. He picked up the adorable giraffe plushie, smile spreading across his lips as he read the note attached to its collar, 'i'm sorry' scrawled roughly across the paper.
He found Kyuhyun in his room, punching the taller lightly in the shoulder before officially banning Kyuhyun from using the kitchen without his assistance until further notice, thanking him for the present as the taller smiled at him sheepishly.
