College ExperiencesRyeowook had spent most his Thursday mornings stuck at the campus coffee shop, slow moving line at rush hour making sure that he only just got to class on time. It was why, after weeks of barely making it into the room before Professor Lee shut the door on his face, he decided to go out of his way to beat the rush.
He failed however, to properly estimate just how big the rush would be, reaching the store just past eight and bypassing the rush entirely, only a handful of people scattered around the tables.
The shop was disturbingly quiet, Ryeowook feeling oddly out of place as he ordered his regular caramel tea and a pastry from the tired barista stood at the counter. He waited awkwardly to the side as the employee went to work on filling his order, whirring of the machines coming to life working to fill the silence.
He fiddled with his phone, inwardly sighing as he glanced at the time. Even if his tea took a while to make he still had just under an hour to kill before his class actually started. When his name was eventually called he stepped forward, taking the order with a quiet thank you before turning back to the rows of empty tables.
Should he sit and eat here? But then he'd have to face the eventual rush when it did hit, the idea of having to shove past everyone to get out to class on time was not appealing at all. He decided instead to just head to the classroom and hope it was already unlocked, figuring he could play a game or something on his phone while he ate his breakfast.
Stepping out into the summer morning he smiled, warmth of the sun brightening his mood considerably as he crossed the campus. He eventually reached his tech building, his own footsteps echoing as he made his way down the eerily silent halls to his computer lab. When he reached the room he pushed on the door, breathing a sigh of relief when it actually opened.
Almost immediately Ryeowook frowned, realising that the lights were already on, illuminating the large room. He looked around curiously, figuring that the Professor must've been there already to shoo him and his food out of her lab when he caught sight of a familiar head of dark brown hair sticking up from behind a monitor in the back row.
Quietly he snuck around the classroom, creeping up on Kyuhyun to get a glimpse of the others screen – he was incredibly curious as to why someone as carefree and sleep-driven as Kyuhyun would be at class so early, especially when he himself had done so completely by accident.
Recognising the the show that flashed across the screen Ryeowook couldn't help the amused smile that spread across his face, flopping into the chair beside the taller boy loudly as Kyuhyun jumped, nearly falling out of his seat in fright.
“gOD Ryeowook what the hell are you doing here!?” he exclaimed, putting a hand dramatically to his chest.
“Wanted to get breakfast for once.” Ryeowook shrugged, smiling as he held up his pastry. His smile turned amused as he watched Kyuhyun try to subtly tilt his monitor, ripping a piece of the sweet bread off before looking back at the other.
“You know, I wouldn't have taken you for a fan of a kids cartoon like the Steel Samurai of all things. I mean, I'm more of a Pink Princess fan myself, but I guess you can't really knock the classics either.”
Kyuhyun stared at him shocked, trying to process what had happened as Ryeowook took a sip of his tea, coughing lightly as the taller swung an arm around his shoulders, grinning brightly.
“Me? I can't believe quiet shy Ryeowook is such an avid fan himself! No one else I know even remembers the show.” he laughed, enthusiasm sparking in his voice.
“Why are you even watching it here anyway? You have a giant computer in your room...” Ryeowook asked.
“Ahhh but you haven't seen my grumpy room mate when its six am and he hasn't had his coffee yet.” Kyuhyun teased as he pushed his screen to face the both of them. “Swap you a headphone for a bite of your pastry?”
“What season are you currently on?” Ryeowook asked, smiling at the delighted squeak that came from Kyuhyun as he slid the treat over.
“Two.”
“Awesome.” Ryeowook nodded. “the Samurai versus the Amazing Nine Tails was the greatest arc of the show.”
“...marry me.”
Ryeowook chuckled into his tea, slipping the headphone into his ear with an embarrassed flush. “Just start the episode.”
They spent the rest of the hour before class discussing the show at length between their shared pastry, conversation continuing to flow as they distractedly did their course work. When class was finally dismissed Kyuhyun had a hold of him almost instantly, allowing Ryeowook enough time to log out and gather his things before he tugged him out of the room.
“C'mon, if we start as soon as we get back to the dorms we can probably finish the rest of the arc before dinner!” Kyuhyun cheered, pushing the smaller out into the sunning morning.
“As long as the next time we get to watch the Princess.” Ryeowook replied.
Kyuhyun chuckled. “I knew befriending you would be the best decision ever!”
