Dad
✧・:♥ A HEARTBEAT AWAY ♥:・✧
The diner was crowded as always. I didn’t even have time to rest. My back was hurting but I was happy of course, delighted, that dad’s diner was doing so well. That witch of course had nothing to do with good business. She had done nothing constructive other than taking money from the cashier as and when she felt like it.
“I OWN THIS THING!” that was what she would reply.
So the money was supposed to be hers, or my sisters. Not mine. But fret not, because I have great friends here – dad’s old employees who stayed with me since. Supported my back, watched me grew up, enter high school and still fighting for my rights with that old hag. Especially Uncle Gary and Aunt JiHyo who loved me, like their own. They stayed with the diner even after dad’s death. They were like his kids, his best friends. Now they’re mine.
“I’ll deal with her, we got your back.” JiHyo would always say that when I was feeling down or disheartened. She felt like mom, always protecting me. At least that was how I imagined my mom would be like.
She would tell me stories about how she worked here as a teenager after her parent’s unfortunate accident and met Gary at the college and came to work here together. How mom and dad gave her a room to stay at home and encouraged her relationship with Gary like parents. How dad was always working hard in the kitchen and my mom would just sit here at the counter watching him with a contented smile, and at times wiping his beads of sweats away lovingly.
These were of course before my birth.
I wished I could witness it. I only had photos, a few, or maybe sometimes I would imagine Gary and JiHyo as them. It was nice watching their affections for each other, like how I imagined myself to be if I watched mom and dad.
Sometimes I hated that I was born for my mom would never have to go and dad would never had to remarry.
“Your mom said that your dad was the best man she has ever met, he was her life.” JiHyo would tell me whenever I sulked thinking about dad marrying that old hag. She has a name though, but she would just be an old hag in my dictionary.
I knew perfectly well that dad remarry to give me a complete home. But look at what he did, marrying a two-faced freak. With dad gone, that old hag just threw me in the storeroom. It was my only safe house for now, my paradise, because she would never step foot into it for it was UNCLEAN – according to her.
“You’re all grown up baby, any lucky boys to have the pleasure to date you sweetheart?” Gary would joke every now and then, urging me to find a boyfriend.
“Should I read you Cinderella again?” JiHyo would add on making me more embarrassed. Dad used to read me that book too, but now I knew there was no prince charming who would come to my rescue. My potential Prince-to-be just bailed out on me, SO KIND OF HIM. Maybe I should have told them about my pathetic heart, about how it beats differently for two boys.
Nonetheless, dad’s diner is the place I would always feel so at home.
“Welcome! Table for five?” I heard Gary’s voice from the corner breaking my train of thoughts.
“JiHye ya could you help me take orders for table 7?” Gary requested. He was too busy cleaning up table 3 and 4. Today’s business was good.
I make my way towards table 7 immediately.
5 males, familiar backs, familiar hair and familiar voices.
But all too strikingly familiar.

A/N:
So I was thinking about how the story will continue and I decided to add in a chapter of JiHye's dad and friends in the diner. This is a long chapter hahaha. Maybe the diner wasn't all that important but it's a scene in the movie, I was thinking maybe I should elaborate about it since I mentioned it.
I haven't plan the ending yet, it's all like how the story would flow as it goes. I changes the flow every now and then. kekekeke in order to create a better story and relationship of JiHye and the boys. :D I try my best! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ
