Someone POV:

I’ve been watching her. I’ve noticed that the other members haven’t been talking to her since Xue began to change. There was like a magnetic force within Xue, pulling them towards her. I too have been attracted but then I realised that it was not real.

She was a fake.

The other were too caught up with Xue to notice it, may Lay hyung did too, I don’t know. Every day, she became different. She stopped talking, stopped hanging out with us. She only did her work and that was it. Though I haven’t talked to her much, I knew that she was a nice person, someone that was able to get Sehun’s trust in such a short period is definitely a good person. Sehun doesn’t open up to people easily because of his cold exterior and shy personality, it was hard for him to make friends. But when he met her, he was at complete ease, she brought out his personality. She was comfortable to be with.

Her skin became paler every day and she looked sick. I wasn’t surprise that she said that she wanted to quit. I would have quit earlier but she persisted in her work.

I admired her.

“I like you.” Kris hyung said. I think most of us froze there with our mouths hanging. Kyungsoo’s eyes were about to pop out.

“I’ve been thinking a lot. I tried to ignore the feeling, I thought it was nothing. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t get you out of my head. You changed me. I was once an emotionless guy that was cold. I didn’t feel anything but after meeting you, I started to feel.” He reached out to hold her hand. “Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for changing me and thank you for caring for me last night.”

I stood there as we heard Kris hyung’s confession. He who can’t feel or have emotions actually fell for a girl like Xue. He told us that he was born different, he was cursed. Someone, only a girl can make him change and he was changing now in a short span of 6 months, he changed so much. And the only girls he was close to was Xue and Rin. It seems like the person who made him change and freed him from the curse was Xue.

Xue immediately hugged him and he hugged back. He wore a smile. Everyone was shocked when he smiled. He really did change.

“I like you too.” she said and he smiled brighter.

“I know.” everyone cheered. It calls for a celebration. The curse was finally broken. He was finally like us, a normal human. He can feel now. I cheered along but stopped when I saw someone moving up the stairs.

She was shaking slightly, and was slightly open, as if she was trying to breathe. I strengthened up and watched her.

She grabbed the stair railing, her arms were shaking. I couldn’t help but feel worried. What’s happening to her? She struggled to climb up the stairs, no one saw her. A tinge of guilt came upon me, who could they not notice her? She was in pain! She was their friend!

Slowly, I followed her from behind, I could tell she was unstable from her steps and I could hear her sobs. It was really soft and she was gasping for air. She was calling someone, and she placed it on her ear as she climbed the stairs. She said something but I couldn’t hear it as she turned around the corner before I could make out what she said.

Thud.

I ran up the rest of the way. Something happened, I had a bad feeling. I turn to the corner and there she was, on the floor clenching her chest, her phone was on the floor. I pulled her into my arms, she was so cold and really pale. Her cheeks were tear stained. I tapped her cheeks softly calling her name.

“Rin? Can you hear me?” she didn’t move. I pressed my fingers by her neck, checking her pulse but I couldn’t really find it. Then I felt something, it was really weak, I could barely feel it. This was not good.

“HYUNG! LAY HYUNG!” I shouted from my position, I rubbed her hands and legs, hoping to keep the blood circulating. “Rin you have to stay with us.” I said and rubbed her arms.

“HELLO?? RIN? WHAT’S HAPPENING? RIN ANSWER ME?” I heard the person on the other line screaming. I picked up the phone.

“Hello?”

“WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO MY BEST FRIEND? WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE IS SHE?” she shouted into the phone, I could tell that she was very worried.

“I’m not too sure myself. I followed her because she was staggering and it looked like she was in pain. She turned around the corner and I heard a thud sound. I ran up and she was lying there.”

“IS SHE OKAY? BRING HER TO THE HOSPITAL YOU-YOU-YOU, ARGH! SHE BETTER BE OKAY OR I’LL SKIN YOU ALIVE. SHE IS MY ONLY BEST FRIEND AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER, YOU ALL DIE AND I MEAN IT.”

“We have a certified doctor here.” I was worried, her pulse was irregular and I was starting to freak out.

“HYUNG! YIXING HYUNG! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU. HELP!” I heard footsteps and he appeared. His eyes widen when he saw her in my arms.

“Don’t ask me what happen I don’t know. Her pulse is really weak, I can barely feel It.” he ran to her.

“WHAT??! HELLO? SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER?”

“Rin?” she laid lifeless in my hands. He took her wrist and checked. “It’s too weak. It’s not good.” Her lifted her from my arms and carried her bridal style. “Get my stuff and a jacket. We need to keep her warm at all cost. My wallet too.” I nodded and dashed off to get the items. I brought along a blanket in case. I ran down behind him.

“We are heading to the hospital. I’ll let you know once the doctor has find out what is wrong with her. I promise I’ll do anything to keep her alive. I’ll call back this number.”

“Wait you can’t ju-“ I hang up before she could finish her sentence and fell into step with hyung.

“GET THE CAR!” the butler who was on standby. He looked really stunned but nodded and ran out of the house.

“What happened?” Suho, Baekhyun and the others looked at us and then at her.

“I don’t know.” I said as I watch her arm hung lifelessly and I was really scared.

“Rin?” Kai asked as he came forward. He paled immediately and reached out to her but Lay pulled away, glaring at him slightly.

“Don’t you touch her.” he said firmly. “Don’t pretend to care for her when you don’t.”

“Hyung how can you say that! She is my best friend!”

“Best friend? If you are her BEST FRIEND you should have known that she was sick and wanted to quit. She was having a hard time and what were you doing? Think about it, were you there for her when she needed help? DO YOU DESERVE TO BE HER BEST FRIEND?” Kai stood there speechless and so did Sehun. His eyes began to tear and he looked so helpless. The others were shocked, none of them said anything.

“Here you are talking and laughing with Xue having the time of your life when mei mei here was suffering in pain. SHE IS SICK! How could you treat her like that? She didn’t complain or say anything about you or Sehun. YOU WERE HER BEST FRIEND! NOW SHE IS LYING HERE IN MY ARMS WITH IRREGULAR AND WEAK PULSE. SHE COULD GO ANY MOMENT!” hyung shouted at them. He was fuming mad. I could understand why.

They got closer when Kai and Sehun were all over Xue. He was her only comfort and she was his. They had so many similarities and they thought alike. It was like they were the same person in a different body. I knew that Lay treated her like his sister. Not all of us actually knew about this. Lay hyung actually had a sister, she was kidnapped when she was 4 and she never came back even when they gave the ransom. He always blamed himself and when he met Rin, they were so similar, I think she reminded him of his sister. He promised to care for her and not let her get hurt.

He couldn’t bear the way they were treating her. I couldn’t too but I didn’t say anything. I just kept watch from the side. Hyung and Rin were too similar for comfort, their looks and behaviour. Their likes and dislikes. Their way of thinking and talking, everything was similar and it freaked me out. How could someone be so similar to one another?

“Quickly, take her to the hospital. Save her at all cost. Don’t worry about the money, I’ll take care of it. She MUST live.” his mother said worriedly and quickly pushed us towards the door. I could tell that she was worried sick about her.  

“The car is ready.” The butler came in and hyung nodded and walked out of the house. I sat at the back and he passed her to me. I wrapped the blanket around her body and held her tightly. Hyung held onto her wrist, taking her pulse making sure it was still beating.

“To the hospital.”

“I can’t find out what’s wrong with her.” the doctor said. After we admitted her into the emergency room, the doctors immediately connected her to machines and run test. All came back negative.

“Her heart beat is really weak but it is not caused by anything. We checked her blood pressure and all, she wasn’t in the zone to get a or heart attack. She had a slight fever but nothing too dangerous. She is perfectly fine just really exhausted.” He, too looked really baffled. They couldn’t find the cause even after we told them her symptoms before she collapsed.

We sat in her room and waited. Lay hyung called his mother and updated her about Rin’s condition. I looked at him, he was really worried. He ran his hand through his hair and I saw tears in his eyes as he told his mother what the doctor said. He was frustrated. He couldn’t do anything.

I looked at her phone and remembered her friend. I unlocked her phone, she didn’t put a password and the wallpaper was her smiling. I missed her smile. Her smile could light up my worse days, now I could hardly see it.

I went to her recent calls and pressed the most recent one.

Yong Yongie

“How is she?” that was the first words she asked me.

“She is fine. The doctors said it was nothing. They were as baffled as us. Her blood pressure and everything was normal. So it couldn’t have led to a heart attack or which were similar to her symptoms. But she does have a slight fever.”

“But overall she is okay right?” she asked calmly.

“Yes, that would seem so.”

“God, what is happening to her? She wanted to talk to me about her being sick when she came back and she collapsed in china?” she let out a sigh of frustration. She wanted to be there for her but she couldn’t.

“Tomorrow is the last day right?”

“Yes.”

“I know that she has another 3 more days of work because apparently you guys begged her to stay for another week. I’m pulling her out. The day you guys come back, I’m taking her with me. It’s final so don’t try to stop me. She has been having a hard time living with you guys and I don’t want you all in her life anymore not when you are treating her like rubbish. YOU ALL ARE SELFISH BASTARDS THAT ONLY CARE FOR YOURSELF AND NOT OTHERS. I HATE PEOPLE LIKE THIS AND THEY DESERVE TO BE HANGED. THAT WAY, THE WORLD WOULD BECOME A MUCH BETTER PLACE. YOU GUYS ARE BIG TIME S.”

“I’ll let them know your words. I’m really sorry.”

“At least you know that you are in the wrong. I seriously want to kill the ones called Jongin, Sehun, Tao and Luhan. They deserve to die.” She paused and I couldn’t help but feel guilty. “Sorry. I’m really angry right now. When she wakes up please let me know.”

“I will.”

“Thanks. By the way who are you?”

“I’m Jongdae.”

“Thanks for informing me Jongdae. “ With that she hung up leaving me with her oh so hurtful words. I was glad at one point that she had a friend she could talk too. Someone like her would protect her and care for her.

The only words I could say to her right now was I’m sorry. We moved to her room where she was resting, waiting for her to wake up.

She didn’t wake up. 5 hours passed and not a single movement from her. Lay was worried out of his wits. He didn’t want to lose her. We all sort of knew that she wasn’t feeling well, she did say that her health had taken a toll for the worse, which was one of the reason why she wanted to quit. She wanted to leave that day but Luhan and Lay hyung begged her or convinced her to stay for another week. She only had 3 more days left with us and now she is lying in the hospital. We should have let her go. Maybe if we did, she wouldn’t be here like this.

“I shouldn’t have asked her to stay. If I didn’t, she won’t be like this.” He blamed himself.

“Hyung, it’s not your fault. We didn’t know that she would collapse.” I tried to console him but it was no use. He buried his face in his hands. He is blaming himself again, for something that he didn’t do. He couldn’t protect her. Just like his sister.

“The doctor said that there is nothing to worry about. She is just exhausted. All she needs is rest.” I tried my best to look at the bright side. But inside, I was the same as him. I was worried, I felt guilty. She fainted at work. She wasn’t given a break in 6 months, working 24/7. Who wouldn’t fall sick? Who wouldn’t collapse? It was the worst thing that can happen to an employee. This was not supposed to happen. She should have been given breaks. Now she was here in bed, not waking up.

The worst thing was the others didn’t come. Not even one. The 2 of us are sitting in her room, hoping that she would wake up soon. If they don’t want to come, fine, but at least a text message would be good. They could just message asking how she was or how long she would be here.

There was none!

I was angry? Yes. Kris hyung’s curse is broken, it calls for a celebration. But when a fellow friend has collapsed due to exhaustion from work, none of them bothered.

I was disgusted.

Disgusted by the way they treat their friends. I was embarrassed to be their friend. How could they respond like this? I swear, if one of them appears right now, I would throw him a punch so hard, he won’t forget.

I looked at her and then back at Lay hyung. He looked so drained. He was already having a hard time at work, and now this is happening to him, his best friend. I placed my arm around him and gave his shoulder a squeeze.

“She will be okay. I’m sure. She is a strong girl.”

“Please wake up soon.” he whispered as he held her hand.

“Hyung, why don’t you go and wash your face. You look terrible. I’ll stay here and look out.” he didn’t want to leave.

“Hyung, if she wakes up she will be shocked at how you look. Go and freshen up.” he looked at me and I nodded to encourage him. Slowly he stood up and headed towards the door.

“Let me know when she wakes up.”

“I will.” He left the room. My phone vibrated as soon as he left. I looked at the caller ID and I felt angry rise inside.

Kim Jong In.

I didn’t pick up and hung up straight away. He don’t deserve to know anything. If he wanted to know, he should be down here. My phone vibrated again and this time was another person.

Kim Joon Myeon.

I didn’t want to answer, but he was older than me and my superior. Reluctantly, I picked up.

“Jongdae? How is she?” I didn’t say anything. “Is she okay? Say something.”

“Hyung.” I heard Sehun’s voice. It was on speaker.

“Why don’t you come down and find out?” I spoke harshly.

“We can’t-“

“DON’T GIVE EXCUSES.” I shouted. “If you don’t care then why bother calling? And you call yourselves friends. HAH! NICE FRIENDS YOU ARE.”

“Jongdae.”

“Don’t ‘Jongdae’ me, hyung. If you guys actually cared for her, you wouldn’t be sitting around a phone, talking to me on speaker mode! Why should you know how she is? Do you deserve to know? DO YOU KNOW THAT YIXING HYUNG IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSING HERE? DO YOU KNOW THAT HER HEART ALMOST STOPPED?” I shouted to the phone. I didn’t care if the nurses or doctors came in. they needed to know how they were acting. Someone needs to make them come around.

“SHE IS FREAKING 20 YEARS OLD. 20! She has a long life ahead of her and now she is FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE? While you guys are flying all over Xue, pampering her, giving in to her, SPOILING her, making her into a WORSE BRAT THAT SHE ALREADY IS, she is suffering every single moment. Guys, WAKE UP. XUE IS A FAKE! She is ACTING! Have you seen her when she is with Rin alone? HAVE YOU? She FREAKING ORDERED her to carry her bags, clean her stuff and do stuff that MAIDS do. I repeat, what MAIDS do. SHE IS A BODYGUARD FOR GOODNESS SICK. DOES XUE NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT BODYGUARD MEANS? IF SHE DOESN’T SHE NEEDS TO BE SENT BACK TO SCHOOL!”

“She is the YOUNGEST among us. We have breaks but she didn’t have. For the WHOLE 6 MONTHS she was here, NOT A SINGLE BREAK! Luhan hyung you were too much. Yes, you care for Xue because what happened in your family. You don’t want it to repeat, I understand but PUSHING a girl who just became an adult to WORK 24/7 WITHOUT A BREAK FOR 6 MONTHS STRAIGHT IS PLAIN CRUEL! You are the WORST employer ever! WORST!”

I was panting in anger. I poured everything out. I didn’t care if it ruined our friendship. I don’t want to be friends with people who don’t care about their friends.

“She has her own family, she is someone else’s daughter, sister and friend. SHE IS A HUMAN! Why am even bothering talking to you guys when you guys don’t care? It’s just a waste of my time and breathe. Don’t bother calling back, I’m not leaving and so is Yixing hyung. We are staying until she wakes up. Oh and Luhan hyung, I just want to pass a message from her best friend. Listen carefully because I’m not repeating at all. On the day we return to Korea, she is going to take Rin with her. Her exact words were, ‘She has been having a hard time living with you guys and I don’t want you all in her life anymore not when you are treating her like rubbish. You all are selfish bastards that only care for yourself and not others. I hate people like this and they deserve to be hanged. That way, the world would become a much better place. You guys are big time s.’ And one last thing, ‘I seriously want to kill the ones called Jongin, Sehun, Tao and Luhan. They deserve to die.’.”

“Go and reflect on what you did.” I hung up and threw my phone on the couch.

I was damn pissed. Hack, if they want to kick me out, go ahead I don’t care. I don’t think I can work with people like this. Yixing hyung came in and I looked at him, he just nodded at me, he must have heard me from outside. He went to seat by her side and held her hand. I stood on the other side, praying that she will be okay.

“Please wake up.”

Another hour passed and hyung fell asleep, holding her hand. I asked for a blanket and covered him. I saw a tear slip out of his eye. He was crying in his sleep.

“Stay strong hyung. Everything will be all right.”

I made my way back to my seat then that’s when I was her finger twitch. I rubbed my eyes and looked at her hand. I thought I saw wrongly. But then it happened again. I went over and hovered over her face.

“Rin? Can you hear me?” I watched as I saw some eye movement from under her eye lid. Slowly she opened her eye, squinting from the bright light, I lifted my hand to shield her from the light as she open her eyes. A warm feeling came over me, and I couldn’t help but smile.

She is going to be okay.

Some of them are not that bad:) And for Rin, well she is a strong girl, don't worry about her.
