Chapter 030: Pasts With Guns

Operation Kill This Love

Nothing seemed to be more exhilarating to young Junhong than to have the honor to walk into the very depths of Daehyun's concealed basement. Ever since he had first been assigned to B.A.P, he had heard on more than one occasion of Daehyun's notorious collection of weaponry. Sadly, only Yongguk had been lucky enough to have seen it once or twice before, and even then, he admitted it was too dark to see everything. All Zelo heard about the legendary stash, besides the fact that it filled the room with a horrid stench of iron and polish, was that Daehyun hid it in his very own home, and had kept it under complete lockdown.

But that day, at that moment in time, it was about to be opened to the world once more.

There was a sudden dire need for the weapons for the mission they were about to partake in, the one that will break the bond between B.A.P as they knew it. Him and Dae knew how big of a deal it all was, to betray their fellow associates and friends, but they felt the need to put their foot down at this final move; they cared too much for those victims to perish to nothing because of them. So they were walking down the quiet and partially neglected hall, Zelo walking between BamBam and Jackson, and Daehyun walking with Mark behind them.

The location of the entryway was quite an obvious one; a door completely made of steel and anything else electrical was not a sight one can hide easily. It was, however, one of the hardest areas to break into, according to all the members who dare tried and failed (Zelo included). One of the main reasons was that there was not only a keypad with a passcode, but an eye scanner, a hand scanner, an alarm system, and a simple lock in the door. Though it was such a to even crack the slightest bit, no one could help but admire the amount of time, effort and ingenuity it must've took for Dae to create such an unbreakable masterpiece like it.

"There's the door." Zelo squealed to himself, biting his lip in anticipation. It was strange to him that, out of all the things someone his age would like, he'd much rather go down the basement of an assassin; then again, he was raised in a much different family than most kids.

They were only a few more feet away from standing straight in front of the door, when Daehyun called them out to a halt. As everyone froze in their spots, it was only him walking forward to the door, stopping and beginning to unlock the massive safe. A feminine voice then came from the installed intercom, first asking for the passcode, the hand print, and then to keep his eyes open; he pulled out a set of keys in the process and then unlocked the door handle, twisting it and pushing the door open.

“You may enter, Jung Daehyun.” The intercom announced monotonically, before signing out and shutting off.

“Come on in, boys, and be sure to watch your step.” He warned, walking onwards into the dim room. Of course, Zelo was the first to run inside and rapidly step down the staircase. As soon as he reached the bottom, he look around, sadly meeting nothing but the darkness.

“Hyung...where’s all your cool stuff?” Junhong whined pathetically. Dae chuckled at the disappointed tone in the younger boy's voice, which was admittedly very cute. Soon, the other three were in the room as well, and by the look of it, BamBam and Jackson were clinging onto Mark so they wouldn't somehow get lost. With a mischievous smile, the elder reached up to grab the inconspicuous dangling switch hanging right above him.

"Are you boys ready to see something mind-blowing?"

"I'm ready to see anything!" Jackson replied in a joking matter.

"As you wish, my dear boy."

He then pulled the chain down, beginning the chain reaction of the lights above flickering on to reveal the rows of weapons and gear alike upon the walls and shelves. Not only that, but what seemed to be a training area also showed near the center of it all, collecting dust from its lack of proper use. It was all so amazing, so shocking, that Zelo almost felt his knees give out from the sheer awesomeness of it all.

"This is so cool! But how is this place so huge?!"

"A lot of building, a lot of workers, and a lot of shopping."

Mark was just as shocked to see the superabundance of guns all placed in one huge room; equally as shocked as to who owned it all.

"How long did it take to get all of these?" BamBam asked, which was the most that the others had heard in a while.

"Well, I've been doing this since I was around Junhong's age, and started gathering these a few weeks after my training days were over, so I think...maybe four years? I think I collected some during my training, but I can't seem to remember at the moment."

"Woooaaahhh." Jackson breathed out admiringly. "So, wait, we actually get to use these?! Like those spies in the movies?"

"We are not spies, we are assassins." Zelo corrected defensively. "There is an actual difference between the two. And besides, being the real thing is actually way cooler than being one of those wannabe actors in the movie. You want a James Bond? We can call British Intelligence right now and have one their agents talk to you."

"Can we do that?!"

"Not right now," Daehyun interfered. "We can do that later. Right now, we got some work to do."

"Huh? Work? We got to grab and go now though, there's no time for us to waste!"

The elder began to laugh, and asked in between chuckles, "Did you actually think you could just grab a gun and go or something? My dear boy, there's some work we have to do before I even let you touch my prized collection. It won't take us very long, as all we need to do is show you how to aim."

Jackson childishly raised his hand, and, with a small smile, Daehyun asked, "Yes, Mr. Wang?"

"Can't I just, like, use a fencing sword instead then? I don't know if you know, but I think I look more of a badass with a sword than with a gun."

"Oh come on, Jackson," Mark teased. "do you really wanna miss the chance of showing off on how you use both guns?"

Jackson looked confused for a moment, until it finally clicked in his brain; Mark was obviously hinting that he would like to see the Wang in action! He couldn't blame the guy for wanting a look-see, since it was rare for him to be able to see Jackson working out.

Mark, however, just said that to get Jackson to learn how to use a gun. But, it's better to let someone think a bit more into it to get them to train, right?

"Aha! Well, I suppose you're right. I mean, if you really want to see what I can do with these muscles." He then began to flex his biceps which, honestly, were quite a sight for Mark to admire.

'Dammit, Jackson, why do you have to be so cute and dorky!? If you weren't so ing cute, we wouldn't even be standing here!'

"Alrighty boys!" Daehyun yelled enthusiastically, "Are you guys ready to learn how to be cold-blooded killers!?"

Silence. Daehyun felt like an anime character with a small sweatdrop going down the side of his face. He wasn't quite used to having one of them be a target, but very vital in their current mission.

"Ahem, I mean...are you ready to be able to kick ?"

"Hell yeah!" They yelled back, earning a nervous chuckle from their elder.

"Okay then, to the training area we go!"

Junhong’s dream finally came true, even though it was under some uncomfortable circumstances.

He was standing in the very training area he’s heard so many rumors about, shooting the guns that have once been used by Daehyun himself, and was able to show off more of his skills than ever before. As an assassin-in-training (sort of), he wasn’t able to go on fun missions with the rest of the gang, and when he did, it was only to observe the procedures he’d seen multiple times before. Because of this fiasco, however, he was able to really do some of the dirty work, and then some. Sure, it may as well have scarred him to life, considering the person he had to go after was his friend, but the fact that he was going to help getting him back had to be worth something, right?

But not only was he going to help get Jinyoung back, but Yuygeom as well; that seemed like a whole other story. The little boy wasn't only his friend, but he was also BamBam's life, one which BamBam himself had to take out. Zelo couldn't help but worry over his much smaller friend, who seemed to have gotten much quieter since his mission the night before. Hell, it didn't even look like he was trying to put in an effort to even hide the fact that he was upset. But, honestly, Zelo couldn't blame him at that point; after his own frightful deed, he still wasn't able to look at himself in the mirror without seeing his own guilty eyes.

'Maybe I should go talk to Kunpi...'

Zelo stopped his target practice and placed the Walther PK38- his personal favorite from the collection -back on the rack. He began to look around the small area for his partner, and was sad to see that he may have left the room, since the only ones he were seeing were Jackson, Mark and Dae-hyung.

"I'm going back upstairs for a moment!" He yelled out loud, running towards the staircase before anyone could reply. He went up the stairs by two's, running as fast as he was able to while keeping steady to not fall back. When he reached the top, his first thought was to look in the living room to check if he was moping on the couch; sure enough, when he peeked in the room from the hall, he spotted the familiar head of hair laying flat on the sofa. He took a small breath, and swaggered into room, walking around the couch and standing in front of him.

“Hey, BamBam...how're you feeling?" He kneeled down and looked at the boy's head, as his face was buried in the cushiony armrest. "If you need someone to talk to right now, you know I'm here for you. I was in the same situation not even a week ago. Well, somewhat; we're putting an end to it this time."

All he heard in response were mumbles that were either real words that were cover by the cushion, or just sound of whining.

"Kunpi, you and I both know I'm not fluent in mumble-ese. Get your face out of there before you end up suffocating."

He pulled the younger's head up gently, only to frown at the sight of small tears beginning to form in his friend's large eyes. BamBam looked similar to the sad puppies that you usually saw on those advertisements; he looked so sad and hurt, with his big brown eyes wet and threatening to free the tears.

"Kunpi..." Zelo crawled on to the couch and pulled his friend up for a full-fledged hug. He felt the boy's arms wrap around him and nuzzling his face into the crook of the taller boy's neck, with  small drops of water escaping and wetting his shirt. Junhong then began to pet the boy's head, his free arm keeping a tight grip on the smaller figure. Then they just sat there for a while, strangely staying undisturbed, despite the sounds of gunshots being fired below them.

"Jun-hyung...I don't wanna be an assassin anymore." BamBam finally murmured, accompanied by a small sniffle. "I don't want you to be one anymore, or Mark, or Daehyun, or anybody."

"I know, BamBam-"

"No you don't."

"Yes I do."

"No. You don't. You're more used to it and have more experience in this field. Hell, your whole family's even a part of the organization, so it's basically a family business on your part."

They stayed silent for a moment, until Zelo asked, "Then mind explaining how you view this?"

BamBam finally loosened his arms and sat up, and took a deep breath. "I think...I think of it as a lose-lose sort of job. There's absolutely nothing to gain from this but money and nightmares, and even then, you still have more taken away than anything given to you. The person you've grown to love and appreciate during your mission is soon taken out of your life because of your duties as a...a murderer. And to add to that, the reasons to be hired are utter nonsense; there's usually not even a real reason!"

"Hmm..."

A breath of fresh air from his small rant; but he continued only seconds later.

"An example of this is Mark-hyung's mission. Like, why was Mark the one to be hired to kill Jackson? And why Jackson? Yeah, he's an heir to a car company and a great fencer, but that's about it! That's all we've been told anyways..."

"...To be honest, I don't think we were even told why Jackson was a target. Although, information like that is rarely given out to us. All we're given is the information on the person, act chummy with them, and then backstab them. Literally. And about Mark, Yongguk-hyung maybe wanted to put him to the test; he does have a legacy to fulfill, you know."

"What legacy?"

"Oh yeah, you don't really know that part. You see, his dad used to be one of the most shadiest but honorable cutthroat in the old days. He would always do the deed, but he was one that would look for the meaning behind the job before doing so. Yeah, he was so respected, that if anyone called him, it would be as if he was their boss; they had to tell them in detail why they wanted the person dead, and if it was a good reason, he would do it. Papa Tuan, which is what he likes to be called now, worked in the force for I think thirty-odd years before retiring."

"Wow..."

"Mhmm. His wife was one too, but she retired when she got pregnant, and his two daughters are currently living the similar lifestyle as well."

"How do you know this?"

"Yongguk was a fan of his when he was younger apparently."

"Ahh..."

"Mhmm..."

Things became quiet between them once more, thankfully more awkward than tense in Zelo's opinion. He looked over at his friend, and was happy to see a small smile spread on his face; it always looked much better on him. Suddenly, they heard strong footsteps come from behind them, and turned to see Daehyun waltzing into the living room with a worried, kind smile.

"Are you boys alright?" He asked, in a motherly tone.

"Yes, hyung, we're okay now." Junhong replied chuckling, "Why are you up here?"

"Ahh, well, I was guessing you boys were a bit hungry, as I don't think I've really fed any of you at all today, so I'm going to make us some dinner. That's okay with you two, right?"

"Can we have cheeseburgers for dinner, Dae-hyung?" BamBam pleaded, his big eyes looking up to Daehyun childishly.

"Of course we can. But I'll need you two to also help me cook. I don't think Mark and Jackson can feel their fingers with how many shots they fired so far."

The three of them laughed quietly, and got up to walk to the kitchen.

"Oh! By the way..." BamBam turned around and tackled Junhong with a hug. "Thank you, Jun-hyung. You're always so helpful."

Zelo couldn't keep the smile down as he hugged the smaller boy back, a bit more tightly as to not let him fall.

"Come on, boys!" Dae yelled. "The burgers won't cook themselves!"

"Coming!~"
