Chapter 028: What a Wake-Up Call

Operation Kill This Love

'Goddammit, why didn't I try to take a nap?'

It was six in the morning, the sun rising slowly but surely as Mark and BamBam walked sluggishly along the pavement to the Wang household. To Mark, it seemed like a stupid idea to just walk over there when they were gonna see the idiot at school an hour or so later; then again, he didn't even want to go to school. With the fact that he had been up since three alongside BamBam, all he really wanted to do was make up for his disturbed sleep.

"BamBam," Tuan whined, "why are we going to his house again? I mean, we get to see him later on at school, so couldn’t we talk to him then? Because, I don’t know about you, but a nap sounds pretty damn good right about now."

"Sleep can wait, but this can't. This is important, Hyung, remember?"

Mark sighed, but nodded nonetheless. It was his fault that it all happened, after all, so he had no real reason to be whiney about it. Besides, he should’ve been used to being tired all the time, as he was more of a night owl than anything.

“Did you bring the spare key?”

“Huh? Oh...we were gonna use the front door this time?”

“Really, Mark? The one time that we are finally going to walk through the front door like normal people, and you forget the key?”

“Hey, didn’t I say I was forgetful whenever I’m tired?”

“...No.”

“...Oh. Well, I'm forgetful whenever I'm tired.”

BamBam couldn’t help but chuckle at his friend’s behavior; it was so unusual yet funny to see Mark act so vulnerable and forgetful.

"Alright then, I guess we're going through the window. Do you need me to carry you up?" BamBam joked playfully.

"No!" Mark yelled defensively, "I'll be fine getting up there, Bam."

And of course, he proved his point. When they reached the household- which didn't take all that long -Mark offered to be the one to climb first. At first, BamBam seemed to be wary of the decision, but then stood in awe as the tired redhead climbed up the tree with ease. The eldest looked down from his perch and gave the Thai a tired smirk.

"BamBam, do you need me to come back down and carry you up?" He teased, using the younger's words against him.

"Ahh shush you. I'll be up there in a second!"

Like a squirrel, he started to climb and jump from one branch to another, getting to the branch just right next to Mark's. From there, they both looked over to the nearby window, where they could roughly see the inside of Jackson's room.

"How're we gonna get him to wake up?" BamBam asked. "From what I remember, he's like sleeping beauty- minus the beauty part."

After giving the boy a high five for the pun, Mark replied, "I know a way, and it involves what's inside your backpack. Can I use your ruler for a split second?"

BamBam stared at him confused, but nevertheless took his backpack off and searched through it; when he found the ruler, he handed it over. Mark stretched out his arm- the one holding the ruler -and skillfully slid it through the gap of the closed window. Then he began to wiggle it, which kind of weirded the younger out first, until a soft squeak was heard; with just the ruler, Mark managed to lift the window wide open.

"...How?"

"I've done this once or twice before. And with how old a house like this must be, there's a high chance that it has the old-fashioned hinges."

"...You gotta teach me how to do that some time."

"Haha, we'll see."

The duo then climbed towards the end of the branch, where they carefully crawled through the window and into the room. To Mark, it felt like a normal sort of mission, with some exceptions of course; to BamBam, it was the most coolest and non-deadliest thing he ever had to do since he became a trainee.

"Time to wake up the sleeping idiot." Mark whispered as he looked at the snoring figure.

"You really like calling him an idiot, don't you?"

"I can't think of anything nicer to call him...can you?"

"...Good point."

It had been about twenty minutes since they woke Jackson up, and only ten since they started explaining Yugyeom's disappearance and mysterious papers. After they had finished explaining, the tired Wang just sat there and stared almost emotionlessly. It wasn't exactly the most pleasing thing for him to wake up to; Hell, when he first woke up, he screamed and fell off the bed at the sight of this friends standing the middle of his room.

"So...you guys think one of us is now next?” He asked.

“To be honest, I don’t even know anymore. This may as well be the last disappearance, and we wouldn’t even know it…” BamBam replied, fairly deliberately.

“What’re we gonna do then? Turn this and the papers into the police?”

“We can’t,” Mark opposed, “we would most likely get in trouble for taking some evidence from the crime scene.”

“But wouldn’t we got off the hook after they realize what the we’re giving them?”

“Law enforcement doesn’t exactly work like that, Jackson. It’s still considered a felony.”

He then went quiet, his lips formed into a straight, unamused line.

“Come on, Jackson, don’t be like that.” Mark murmured, sitting down next to the boy on the bed. “I’m sure we’ll find some way to sort this all out.”

“How could we possibly do that?” Wang countered angrily. “We can’t call the police, we don’t know where to find this guy, we don’t even have a proper lead! How would we possibly do anything?”

Sudden honks came from outside the house, scaring the three of them. BamBam and Mark looked over at Jackson, to see if he knew anything, but he was just as shocked as the other two.

“Jackson, were your parents planning on having anyone over today?” BamBam asked.

“They’re on a business trip today and won’t be home until...I think Tuesday.”

“How about your brother?”

“He lives in the college dorms and, last time I checked, he has classes today.”

“Then who the is at your house this early in the day? Besides us of course.”

With a shrug, Jackson got up and quickly threw on his uniform and headed downstairs, Mark and BamBam following in suit. As they all were walking down, two louder honks had blared from the front yard. When Jackson opened the door, he couldn’t help but guffaw at the sight before him; the others were equally as shocked. Parked in front of the Wang household, roaring loudly on the streets, was a shining silver Oullim Spirra.

“Well damn.” Jackson proclaimed. “That’s a pretty good-looking car.”

The passenger’s window rolled down, revealing an all-too-familiar face. The boy smirked at the surprised looks on each of the other boys’ faces, and let himself out of the car.

“Hey fellas, long time to chat. Would you like a ride?”

“Junhong!” BamBam tackled the giant with rejoice, but with his small figure, couldn’t knock him down like he wanted to. Zelo chuckled as he hugged the small figure, and replied, "Hey, shortie, did you miss me?"

"Yes, you . I missed you a bunch-"

"Hey! No need for that sort of language coming from a kid your age!"

Mark and Jackson looked at one another and walked over to the car, looking through the open car door to see their favorite baker, Daehyun.

"Dae! Where've you been, man? And when the hell did you get this beauty? Can I, maybe, drive it sometime?"

"Jackson," Tuan warned, "I don't think that now's the time to ask that." He looked over at his elder, his serious face turning into one of slight confusion. "Daehyun, what're you doing here? how did you know we were here?"

"We dropped by your house and BamBam's to try and pick you two up first, but you guys didn't come out. Well, BamBam's sister did, but only to tell us he wasn't there. I guess we should've came here first, though, would've made it a lot easier."

"Dae-hyung, I think we should save the chit-chatting for later." Zelo said thoughtfully. "Right now, we need to head out."

"You're right," the elder responded. "We have more important things to do now. Climb n in, everybody, we're going on a trip."

"You don't have to tell me twice!" Jackson hollered, enthusiastically climbing into the car, followed by BamBam, Mark and Zelo. When the seats got adjusted, belts buckled and the door slammed shut, Daehyun wasted no time in revving up the vehicle and driving hell-for-leather away from the neighborhood. Jackson was enjoying the ride, the childish grin never leaving his face as the Spirra roared down the road; BamBam and Mark, though they too enjoyed it, couldn't help but be perplexed at the duo's sudden arrival at the home.

"You still didn't answer my question," Mark reminded, "What are you two doing here exactly?"

The car was silent for the moment, until Zelo looked over at the driver with a playful smirk on his face.

"We'll talk about it when we get to where we need to be." He replied.

"And where would that be?"

"The place where we're grabbing some much needed supplies, along with switching cars. So Jackson, I hope you don't grow attached to this baby, 'cause this'll probably be the last time you'll ride it."

"What~?! But why?" Wang whined.

"This isn't suitable for what we're going to be doing today."

BamBam looked at the driver left of him puzzled.

"What're we doing then?"

Daehyun shifted his eyes to the rear view mirror to look at BamBam, and gave him the most confident smile he could muster.

"BamBam...we're getting those boys back."

(Note: IS GOING TO BE GOING DOWN NOW!! XD I know that I said that I wouldn't be as fast in typing this, but I'll admit that I was kind of emotional while writing the last one, so I wasn't thinking as clearly. But I maybe will be going a bit slower now, since I am actually nearly finished with this /*0*\ Lol, but we'll have to wait and see! Until then, talk to you later, my lovely Pyschopaths~!!
