Chapter 019: Morning Mourning

Operation Kill This Love

It was Saturday morning, at around eleven to be exact, when Mark heard the familiar tapping on his window. A growl came from his tired form as he covered his ears with his pillows, which kind of helped on blocking the noise. There was no way he would get up from the comfort of his bed, especially if it to open the window for who he thought it was outside. He snuggled into the comforting mattress and begged for the boy to go away thoughtfully, and thought his prayers were answered when the sounds stopped.

Until he heard the soft ksssshhh sound.

Mark quickly shot up from the bed and was about to growl at Jackson, but only stared as the figure- no, two figures- before him were much smaller, and less annoying.

“BamBam? Yug? What’re you doing here? How the hell did you find out where I live?”

Neither replied, but dashed to the closet and started looking through the endless hangers of Mark’s clothing.

“Boys!” Mark exclaimed, baffled at the unusual behavior.

Then two objects were thrown straight to his face, most likely an outfit for him to put on. Mark felt himself grow aggravated by this, as he tossed the cotton and denim to the side and crossed his arms.

“BamBam, Yugyeom, what the are you two doing here!? And don’t you dare keep throwing my stuff at me or I’ll-”

“We need to head to Jinyoung’s house, now. Just get your clothes on.” BamBam interrupted.

“Huh? Why? Did he go into a depression again?”

The youngsters looked over at Tuan with almost empty, teary eyes; the same look Jinyoung had when Youngjae disappeared. The sight, and the possibilities, caused uneasiness to stir in the redhead's weakening stomach. Something bad may have happened involving Jinyoung, and probably Zelo's threat as well; Mark didn't feel capable of asking.

Instead, he only nodded, picked up the almost-forgotten shirt and started to get dressed. BamBam, who seemed to act as if in a rush, walked around the room impatiently while playing with his hands; Yugyeom was looking aimlessly around the room. As soon as the older boy slipped on his sneakers, BamBam was heading towards the open window, until Mark pulled him back.

"Instead of going out my abused window," Mark warned, "How about we try walking out my front door instead?"

Stifling a nervous chuckle, the Thai child nodded in agreement, following the others out the more 'normal' way. As they walked out the front door, Mark closing and locking it behind them, the surrounding fall air felt like it was choking Tuan from his sudden anxiety. Yugyeom was a bit more quiet than usual, just messing with his hands like they were the most interesting thing in the world. BamBam, however, was mumbling away, a stern look on his baby-like features; not a good sign.

"So...mind telling me what's going on?" Mark asked nervously.

Both stayed silent for a few moments, mostly uneasy on how to put the news for the redhead. Yug took a deep, quiet sigh, as he pulled his jacket sleeves down and covering his bare hands from the breeze.

"Jinyoung's gone." He whispered, pleading that Mark heard.

Sadly enough for Mark, he heard the words, and felt his stomach drop.

"Since when?"

"Mr. Park didn't notice until just this morning, at around six or seven. I'm guessing that it happened late last night."

"Does Jaebum know?"

"Heh,” BamBam murmured, “he was the one who sent us to get you and Jackson. I bet he's still sitting in Umma's room with Mr. Park, wallowing."

Tuan hummed.

"Hey, do you know a way to get into Jackson's place? Like, his bedroom maybe? We don't want to disturb his dad..."

They stopped at the start of the stony pathway, and met an empty yard, with an empty garage right beside it.

“From what I see,” Mark implied, “I think it’s safe to say we can go in through the front. And thankfully, I know where the extra key is.”

“For being a hyperactive and hormonal athlete, you sure are a lazy .” Mark grunted, as he carried the half-asleep Jackson on his back.

The quartet was heading to the familiar estate of the Park’s, BamBam and Yugyeom walking with arms linked and Mark being Jackson's small camel. Throughout his entire career, Tuan never once thought that he would one day become the pack mule in any sort of mission for any of his targets; then again, he never met anyone quite like Jackson Wang. The boy in question was dozing away on the American-Chinese's shoulder, awake enough to cling onto Mark, but not enough to listen or say anything clearly.

When they walked into his room moments before, they couldn't help but giggle at the sight of Jackson still in his clothes from the day before, lying on his bed snoring away with his phone flat on his face; a great sight the others took pictures of beforehand. The red rectangle was still visible on his pale face, even when it was resting comfortably in Mark's neck. It was cute to look at for the other two, seeing Mark carry his sleeping beauty; the latter, however, swore he was going to have back pains to the max.

"Mark-hyung," Yugyeom asked, "couldn't you have just woken him up?"

"He would take too long to get ready, and he already looks somewhat decent, so why bother?"

The youngest hummed at this, looking forward at the upcoming house with his gloomy but stoic face. There was a sad vibe coming from the direction before him, a familiar feeling that seemed to welcome itself in the Park household since the first kidnapping. It was a heartbreaking sight to see the once lively house grow so vacant and dead, with it's warm colors fading to grey from the emotions. As they grew closer, Yugyeom could feel his friend's emotional walls crumbling down from knowing their motherly friend was not waiting inside for them; that Youngjae wasn't in there to offer them smiles and cookies.

With no hesitation to his actions, Yug broke the small link they made, and slipped his hand into BamBam's clammy one, squeezing it lovingly. He knew the way his best friend worked in this sort of situation; how to comfort the boy whenever he was growing tense or sad, the way to calm him after a meltdown; Yugyeom's been doing that a lot as of late. Most people would've thought that the youngest would need the comfort, when it would always end up the other way around- the hyungs needed the comfort.

The four finally made it to the door, but didn't dare knock, so they wouldn't disturb the wallowing father figures inside. They slowly stepped into the dulling living room, and all were heading towards the direction of Jinyoung's room, when BamBam and Yugyeom turned around and faced the other two.

"BamBam and I will comfort Jaebum-hyung and Mr. Park, while you can go and wake up Jackson in here and tell him what's going on. Once you both are ready, you guys can come in and help." Yugyeom directed.

Mark, of course, complied and went the opposite direction, the living room couch, and the younger two went the other way. Tuan was at first thinking of just flopping Jackson on the couch, to make him wake up quickly, but he of course knew better and just gently placed the sleeping male down. When he turned around, Mark couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of the flirtatious dork knew sleeping like a small child with his mouth hanging open.

"How cute...time to mess with Sleeping Beauty."

Mark began patting Jackson's cheeks rapidly, the first pap startling the young boy.

"What the hell was that for?" Wang whined.

"You had to wake up." Mark replied, "Now, instead of you whining, I expect a thank you for the piggyback ride."

"What're you talking about-"

Jackson then squeaked at the discovery of the new environment. He looked at the couch he had woke up on, and the room that was most definitely not his own.

"What are we doing at Jinyoung's place?!"

"At least you know where you exactly are." Tuan chuckled.

"I'm serious, Hyung! Why are we at the Park's house?"

"Well, Jin-"

Before Mark could even begin explain, Jackson gasped and yelled, "Is he in his Depressed Umma mode again?! Don't worry mommy, I'm here!"

Wang jumped to his feet in an instant, standing with a dorky heroic pose, but was quickly tackled back onto the puffy couch.

“Hey! Why you-!”

Jackson once again got distracted from his words, but with something that he never thought could happen. Right in front of him, sitting on his very lap and holding his arms down, was none other than the oh-so serious Mark Tuan.

Cue the silent squealing in Jackson’s fangirl brain.

Though his small fangirling only lasted a moment, as he saw the familiar boring eyes show something that was there a short time ago: sadness. It was the same sight that was clouding his Mark’s eyes when Youngjae disappeared; the same sight that let the salty water substance stain Mark’s cheeks. Was it because the Tuan didn’t like seeing his Umma sad? Or perhaps...

‘Oh no...’

He felt the grasp on his wrists slowly loosen up, to the point where his arms were completely free and mobile. It didn’t really matter much to him though, as Mark unexpectedly laid his head just under Jackson’s jaw and grew limp.

“Jackson...Jinyoung’s gone…just like Youngjae...”

Jackson felt no need to hesitate as he wrapped the redhead in a big embrace, rubbing small circles on his back as his hyung was beginning to wet his shirt with small tears. There was no exchange of words between them, no witty comment to try and bring up the mood; there was no need for those kind of things. With only seeing him cry once before, Wang knew that Mark would unsurprisingly calm down whilst being held, surrounded in nothing but silence. He also had to restrain himself from kissing Mark’s fluffy little head, though he did remember what a calming effect it had on Mark in the kitchen incident.

So, with knowing the possible consequences, Jackson lovingly nuzzled the bundle of hair below him and placed a kiss, mentally preparing himself for any upcoming hits. When he felt noted he was still alive a short moment later, he just continued to nuzzle Mark’s sad form, taking dangerous risks of small pecks here and there.

Though unknowingly, Mark liked the comfort Jackson was offering.

“Hyung,” Jackson whispered, “do you want to get with the rest of the gang? Or would you like to stay here a little bit more?”

Fortunately, on his part, Mark only wrapped his arms around the other’s middle and shook his head.

“Thought so.”

Jackson began to pet Tuan’s head and held the male closer to him, securing his wallowing figure. It was soothing for the duo, relaxing and letting some of the emotions go before seeing the others; mainly for Mark. Wang only thought the reason for Mark’s tears was because of the newest kidnapping. Though that was true, that Mark did feel sorry for Jinyoung’s capture, he was too afraid to show what he really felt inside.

The fact that the suffering was all his fault. He was too stupid; too attached to the stupid male holding him like a child, and what was the price?

People that he grew close to, and became close friends with, were being dragged into a game that was too dangerous to play.

How could he not grow guilt with each passing day that this went on?
