Chapter 029: Let's Talk

Operation Kill This Love

"Well then...this is where you live."

They were inside the house of Jung Daehyun, strange territory that none of them except Zelo knew actually existed. The room they were sitting in- the living room -was almost the complete opposite of Daehyun's given personality, with mainly black and grey furniture and décor. They were situated in on the two separate sofas, Mark, BamBam and Jackson on one and Dae and Zelo on the other. Between them was a black-and-white glass coffee table where their drinks, freshly made and poured into their own fancy little cups.

Daehyun chuckled at the surprise that continued to plaster Jackson’s face, and replied comically, “Did you expect me to actually live in the café? I mean, I do love my little shop, but I don’t think it’s capable of having any room to house me.”

"But...this house...I kind of expected it to be more colorful with how you are."

Another chuckle.

"Well," Dae began, "there are some things you have yet to know about me. But we'll get to that in a bit." He grabbed his cup and took a small sip of the dark liquid inside, a satisfying sigh leaving his lips. "Right now, we need to have a small chat...mainly concerning our missing boys."

BamBam looked over to Zelo cautiously, an eyebrow slightly raised. The only response he himself was given was a small smile from the blond, followed by a strangely reassuring wink. The giant then looked over at the other two boys, and leaned in with his hands clasped together.

"What we mean by this is, in simple terms, we had found their location."

Mark jumped up from the exciting news, but looked as if he was about ready to attack rather than celebrate.

“You do? How!? When were you going bring this up?!”

“We brought it up just now, didn’t we, Mark-hyung?” Zelo countered sarcastically earning a glare. If it wasn't for Jackson and BamBam sitting next to him, Tuan would've tackled Mr. Hot-Shot on the spot.Daeyun seemed to have sensed this- or perhaps it was visible to him -, as he wrapped his arm around the younger's next to him, putting him in a chokehold.

"Junhong, didn't I talk to you about being cheeky to your elders?" The elder of the group scolded. Mark couldn't help but smirk a bit at the sight of Zelo already giving in to his elder, like he just bit his own tongue and was only able to nod. With a sly smile, the redhead sat thoughtfully back on his cushion, getting himself trapped by the arms of Jackson.

"Ahem," Dae cleared his throat. "But anyways, I think that it's best for us, us as in me and Junhong, to be truthful about the whole spiel."

This seemed to have gotten Jackson's attention, as the weight on Mark's shoulder seemed to disappear into the owner's lap. BamBam, much to Tuan's surprise, didn't seem as much invested into the discussion, which was almost worrying the latter. Nevertheless, he gave his attention to the guys at the opposite side of the area.

"This may seem as a bit far-fetched to you all, but…we’ve actually known more than you’ve possibly theorized for quite a time now. We knew their strategies, their targets, their primary target, and why they were doing what they were.”

The boy on Mark’s left tensed up, but was quickly calmed by the relaxing touch of Tuan’s hand on his. It was remarkable how they were simply hinting of their identities, but neither of the boys said a thing about it; were they still clueless?

“However,” Zelo added, “neither of us knew exactly where they were being hidden; only two selected members were told.”

“Wait…” Jackson held his hand up like a pause button. “Members? Do you mean to tell us that you were a part of this ?!”

‘Oh, so I guess he was kind of slow on getting the news the first time.’

Before either of the boys could reiterate, Jackson sprung up from his seat and began to snarl at them.

“What kind of bull is this? You two, the people who were not only trusted, but looked up to! And no Zelo, I do not mean this literally, so don't you ing dare say anything."

"Jackson, I don't think that's necessary-"

"Do you know how ed up that all is?! Youngjae trusted you, Daehyun, and looked up to you like you were a ing God, and what did you do? You let get taken away, not even willing to go over and tell him to run off back to-"

These words seemed to have made the elder crack, as Daehyun stood up and over-towered the younger, and yelled just as lividly, "Don't you think I'm suffering the same damn problem? Huh?! Do you know what the had happened that night he quote-unquote disappeared?! No, you don't! Why? Because you didn't see the I did! I had to be the unlucky one to take him out, Wang! I had to just sit there as he fell to his knees because of me! Be ing happy I'm letting you know what the hell's been going on behind the scenes, and trying to ing help you get them back before they are ing dead!"

The two stared at each other silently, Daehyun's face filled with saddening anger and Jackson's with pure shock. Slowly, the younger boy began to shrink back to his seat, his eyes looking down the entire time; he admitted his inevitable defeat. Dae, too, sat himself back down, nonchalantly grabbing his glass and taking another sip.

"Now...can we continue our explaining?"

BamBam and Mark nodded sheepishly, but Wang only hummed in response.

"Alright then...Junhong, where were we exactly again?"

The young blond chuckled quietly. "We were talking about the hideout, Dae-hyung."

"Ah, yes, that's right, thank you." He turned his attention back to the three boys in front. "Only two members out of the seven- no, wait, six- six of us were allowed to know of the location. And, if you couldn't quite tell, we were not the lucky duo to know anything more than our objective."

Mark looked at Daehyun puzzled. 'Why are you saying six? There were seven of you the last time I checked...hm, I must've still been in a daze.'

"Lately, however, it seems that another one of us seemed to have the same idea as we do, someone who actually knows the whereabouts of Youngjae and the others. The main reason that I'm bringing this up as such is because, last night, when I was closing the café and was beginning to clean the counter, I found an envelope in the tip jar."

As Dae spoke, he began to pull something out of his back pocket, then placed something wrinkled and white flat on the table. The mouth of it was already torn open, with a piece of paper poking out of it like a tongue. Mark leisurely grabbed the paper and slid it over to their side, lifting it off the table surface. He looked over the small creases before pulling out the tongue, just to reveal the paper was folded, with just as many wrinkles as the paper-esque body it was stuffed in. He looked up at the soft-faced elder, who only motioned him to open the folded paper.

"Come on, open it, Mark, it won't hurt you. in fact, I think you'll find it useful."

Raising an eyebrow, Mark threw the empty envelope back on the table and began to unfold. BamBam and Jackson looked over his shoulders, raising their own eyebrows in puzzlement.

"It's a map." BamBam announced bluntly. "But, what does this have to do with anything?"

"Well," Zelo began, pulling the paper away from their faces and on to the table. "If you read the labels, you can obviously read that this map is more specifically for the wooden area around Jaebum's house." He pointed at a small area in the woods, where the was a small picture of a pair of keys. "This is where some keys are located, but we don't know if they're for a car or something more significant. And right here," He pointed to a faintly drawn box, labeled '창고' (warehouse). "is where we need to go."

"Whoever slipped this to you needs a hug, man, 'cause this alone can help us get them outta there!" Jackson cried happily.

"If they're still alive..."

Everyone, including Zelo, looked over at Daehyun with questionable glances.

"What do you mean by that, Dae-hyung?"

"Junhong, you should know by now how ShiShi works. Once he finds out that someone even pulled this stunt under his nose, he will find them and, if necessary, punish them with his bare hands. Hell, if he found out we're fighting against him...we wouldn't even be tortured; we would be killed on the spot!"

That didn't sound pleasant. They were all in a state of slight fear, until Jackson spoke up with a confused voice.

"ShiShi? What kind of name is that?"

"It's not his actual name, Jackson. Each of us were given a different codename by our father company. For example, mine is Keke, and Junhong's is Toto."

"Toto, like Totoro?" Jackson looked over and Zelo. "He doesn't remind me of a fuzzy grey bunny thing."

"Hey!" The blond whined. "I wasn't nicknamed after Totoro!" He crossed his arms and pouted, but audibly mumbled, "I was nicknamed after my love of tomatoes..."

Jackson began to laugh at the boy, only to be slapped quiet by Mark.

"What was that for?!"

"Don't be an , Wang. At least he's been trying to give you some respect, which frankly, you don't seem to deserve."

The boy pouted at this, but murmured an apology to the giant, who hummed and quietly forgave him. Daehyun had let a small chuckle and smile show from his serious mask from the duo's behavior; they were such children. BamBam, again, didn't pay much mind to any of it, as he just sat there and stared at the map with furrowed brows.

"...You know, I actually have a question to ask you two..."

"Hm? What is it, Jackson?"

"Why did this even start? I mean, you and Youngjae worked together for a few months, and, in my opinion, that seems to be too much time to do all of this if can just take a couple weeks to kidnap four people."

Mark felt his throat tighten up at the question. Would those two actually blow his cover, or keep it on the down low for as long as possible? With what they were saying and the bullets they were trying to dodge, it seemed very likely, but since they were being honest about most of it, he couldn't help but be frightful.

Daehyun looked as if he knew Tuan's sudden dilemma, as he said nonchalantly "In the life of an assassin, you don't know what and when the hell you'll get assigned. All i really know about that part is that someone failed at doing their job, and that same someone has some close ties with you and your friends."

Mark inwardly sighed, and mouth to Daehyun and small 'thank you', which the latter replied with a smile and a wink.

"Now that this little talk is all done, how about we start getting prepared, hm? I have a few toys that have been getting neglected as of late that I think want to leave their cases."

"What? I finally get to see your legendary collection!?” Zelo yelled enthusiastically. When Daehyun nodded, Zelo wasted no time in jumping from his chair and yelling, “Hell yeah, let's go!"

He then ran off to God-knows-where, followed by the others, the last two being the two eldest, who were smiling to one another in secret.

“Thank you again, Dae-hyung.”

“Anytime, Mark,” he patted the younger one’s back lovingly. “Anytime.”
