Betrayal
Picking One
Yvonne POV
Beep… beep… beep…
The constant sound of the beeping woke me up and I reached over to silence the alarm however nothing but empty space was beside me. My eyes fluttered open and after they adjusted to the lighting I realised that I was in a white room that smelt like medicine and the beeping was from a machine.
“Unnie?” a faint voice beside me spoke.
My head immediately snapped up at the sound of that voice and I couldn’t believe who I was staring at, tears filled my eyes again.
“Jess,” I was shaking but never the less I hugged her tightly as relief washed over me.
“Unnie… Y-you’re hugging too t-tight,” she choked out.
“I-I’m sorry,” I backed away and then realised that Jessica had just woken up, “Umma and Krystal will be so happy! I should get the doctor-…”
“Wait Unnie,” Jessica pulled on my hand, “C-Can you just stay with me for a while… alone?”
I looked at Jess and realised that she looked... healthy. The colours had returned to her cheeks and even though she hadn’t been eating for days she didn’t look any skinner than before. It had only then occurred to me, “How long have you been awake?”
Tears were now on the rim of her eyes, “Unnie… I-I’m sorry. F-for the past few days I… I was awake, and I know about everything.”
My mouth fell open not believing what I had just heard.
Jessica took a deep breath, “I messed up the machines so that they gave off false information, and at night I would sneak out to get food.”
“W-why,” I didn’t understand what Jessica was doing.
“Kai Oppa did hit me with his car but I ran in front of it on purpose. I guess I misestimated the distance and Oppa was able to stop before I was completely run over. After the hospital replaced the blood I had lost…I recovered.”
“Y-You tried to suicide?” I couldn’t believe that my happy go lucky sister had dark thoughts like this. How did I never notice? Shouldn’t there be some kind of a sign?
Jessica smiled bitterly, “I was suffering… but nobody noticed; nobody cared. Everyone had their head all wrapped around about your and Kai’s engagement.”
My heart dropped to the ground as Jessica had spat out the last few words.
“You, you, you. Everything is always about you Unnie. You get everything.”
“Jess!” I thought back to the mood swings she had earlier in front of me, Krystal and Kai.
Jessica continued on, “You get the money, you got all the guys. First it was L now it’s Kai, and you know what the worst part is?” Jessica glared into my eyes, “You never appreciated anyone of them.”
“T-That’s not true,” I thought; It was L who left me... and I never even wanted to inherit the company. I also didn’t get a say in my engagement with Kai…was it also my fault that I was the first born?
“Then why did you run off with some other guy when I was in the hospital? Weren’t you worried about me at all?” Jessica finally started to pour her heart out, “I know that Kai Oppa sent you but do you know why he did? He didn’t want you to b
