Taeyeon and Tiffany barely kept their eyes on the race that was going on. Instead, the pair were busy talking though still slightly awkward, they were in a way, progressing.

‘W…Why didn’t you tell me that you were coming for the carnival?’

Taeyeon asked the girl

‘I did. I wrote it in the letter that I was supposed to give you yesterday.’

‘O…Oh. S..So, what grade are you in?’

‘I’m in my final year actually. Yoona, Jessica and I received our acceptance letter to SM College last week.’

Taeyeon heard the girl say

‘…’

‘Don’t get me wrong. I mean, I didn’t apply to SM College just because you’re in it. I mean, I’m not a stalker. I mean, we made a pact a few years ago, way before you started taking the bus early this year. I mean……’

Tiffany stopped explaining herself when she heard someone giggling.

‘Cute.’

Taeyeon muttered softly

‘What did you say?’

‘Huh?....Oh. Nothing. So, is this considered like a pre-orientation for you? Do you want me to bring you around the campus?’

‘It’s okay. It’s only 3 more months till our official orientation anyway. Thanks for the offer though.’

Tiffany gave Taeyeon a smile. The pair found themselves staring at each other’s eyes. It wasn’t until the bang from the starter’s gun startled them that they looked away shyly.

‘D…Do you have any plans later?’

Taeyeon asked Tiffany.

‘I’m not sure actually. I think Yoona’s going to be hanging out with Taecyeon. So I guess, I’ll go wherever Jessica wants to go. What about you?’

‘I….I was actually going to ask if you want to have some ice cream.’

‘……’

‘It’s okay if you don’t want to. It’s not like you have to say yes.’

Taeyeon told her. Slightly disappointed at the pause.

‘I would love to have ice cream. It’s just…..I can’t possibly leave Jessica alone. How about we all go together?’

Tiffany suggested. She would have agreed immediately if she was alone.

‘S…Sure.’

Taeyeon smiled. The pair continued talking until they heard their names being called.

‘TIFF! Are you planning on staying overnight in this school?’

Jessica shouted

‘TAEYEON! You better not be hanky panky-ing up there!’

Hyoyeon shouted after Jessica. Taeyeon glared at her friend. She couldn’t help but blush.

‘Shall we go?’

Taeyeon asked the girl next to her. Again, she subconsciously offered her hand.

‘Sure!’

Tiffany responded as she placed her hand in Taeyeon’s. They walked back down to where their friends were waiting for them.

‘WOAH. What happened to you?!’

Taeyeon almost shouted when she saw Hyoyeon limping.

‘I’m guessing the two of you didn’t even watch the race?’

Jessica asked the pair

‘You don’t have to guess. Just look at their hands. Thanks for the drinks though'

Yuri pointed out. As she took the bottle of mineral water for herself and handed the ice tea to Hyoyeon while Tiffany and Taeyeon immediately pulled their hands apart.

‘Sorry’

Taeyeon apologized to Tiffany who looked away shyly.

'YAH! That drink is for Hyomin!' 

Sunny pointed at the half empty ice tea.

'Whoops. I'll get you a new one. And a bottle of water too'

'That's not mine. This is'

Sunny said as she raised the bottle of coke that Tiffany passed to her

'Oh. So this is?'

Yuri turned to where they were pointing at. She realized that she was drinking Jessica's drink.

'I'm so sorry. I just assumed that Taeyeon bought them for us.'

'It's okay.'

Jessica smiled. Tiffany raised her eyebrow at Jessica since she knew that the girl barely ever smiles.

As they walked towards the main gate, Sunny filled both Taeyeon and Tiffany about what they missed out.

It turns out, Hyoyeon and Yuri both qualified for the finals. However, in the middle of the race while they were both neck and neck, Hyoyeon suddenly stopped running. Yuri, who was running as fast as she could noticed that she was running without Hyoyeon. She stopped and ly to see Hyoyeon clutching her calf. Yuri stopped running and jogged in the opposite direction. She jogged back towards Hyoyeon and kneeled down beside the girl.

‘Cramp?’

The tanned girl smirked at her friend who was clearly in pain.

‘Come on. Let me help you’

Yuri offered the girl a hand. She lifted Hyoyeon up before supporting the girl off the track. There, the medics helped Hyoyeon with relieving the pain.

‘Why didn’t you finish the race?’

Hyoyeon frowned as her calf was being stretched.

‘Wouldn’t miss your grimacing face for the world.’

Yuri smirked.

By the time Sunny finished summarizing what happened, they had already reached the bus stop.

‘I’m catching a movie with Hyomin. I’ll see you guys on Monday then.’

Sunny waved to the rest as she and Hyomin flagged down a cab. She winked at Jessica before entering the cab, as if signaling the girl about something.

‘Hyo, do you want me to send you home?’

Yuri asked the limping girl.

‘It’s fine. Nicole is picking me up. Oh. There she is.’

Hyoyeon stood up as a dark blue sedan pulled over.

‘Hey guys.’

The girl in the driver’s seat waved to the Yuri and Taeyeon. Nicole is Hyoyeon’s girlfriend. She’s a year older and from a different college. The pair would spend their weekends together since they barely have time to meet each other during the weekdays.

‘So….what do you guys want to do now? It’s still pretty early.’

Yuri asked.

‘Do you guys want to go have ice cream?’

Taeyeon suggested.

‘Sounds great!’

Yuri replied almost immediately. The four of them decided to wait for the bus. When the bus pulled over, Tiffany and Taeyeon were the first to board the bus. Just as Yuri was about to step on, Jessica grabbed her hand and pulled her away from taking the bus.

Yuri was about to say something when Jessica beat her to it.

‘Oh no. I think I left my wallet at the stadium. You guys go ahead first! Yuri, do you mind accompanying me?’

Again, Yuri wasn't given much of a choice as Jessica pulled the girl along with her. Jessica waved goodbye to Tiffany and Taeyeon. The other two didn’t even get a chance to respond when the bus driver closed the doors.

‘Sorry. I just wanted them to spend some time alone.’

Jessica immediately let go of Yuri’s hand and apologized.

‘It’s alright. Wished you gave me a heads up before dragging me. So your wallet is with you?’

Yuri asked.

‘Uhhuh’

Jessica nodded.

‘E….Erm….Do you want to do something else? You know since it’s still early.’

‘……’

Jessica didn’t answer. Instead, the grumble that her tummy made answered the question for her.

‘Do you want to get some food?’

Yuri asked, trying hard not to giggle. Jessica nodded in response, too embarrassed to put her head up.

‘I know just the place. Come on. I owe you a drink anyway.’

Yuri gestured Jessica to follow her. They walked back towards the bus stop where Yuri flagged down a cab. In the cab ride to their destination, Yuri couldn’t help but smile when she looked at Jessica. She had noticed Jessica as soon as she laid eyes on her before the race. The girl who was now staring outside the window is indeed beautiful. Jessica turned to face Yuri as she felt someone staring at her. Yuri faced away almost immediately. Jessica smiled. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t attracted to the girl sitting next to her. As cliché as it sounds, she too was attracted to Yuri at first sight.
