STOP

Within The Blood

He couldn’t help but shake the feeling that something was out of the norm. Yes, the school gave him the wrong image of being a behavioral school, because it seems to be a prep school with a lot of rich kids to him. Rich kids who have hidden agenda that teachers were unaware of or simply turning the blind eye. Either way HyukJae couldn’t help but think that this wasn’t normal and he felt like he is in the middle of something big.

Another night Lee DongHae is still out past curfew. “How is he staying out pass curfew so often?” HyukJae asked himself as he let out a sigh. He rolled over on to his right side facing the wall. “Six months of this..., great, just what I need”.

The uncertainty was beginning to drive him nuts and it’s only his second day at his new school. The stare down between SungMin and the guys in the lunch room from early; it left him even more uneasy when they were watching him.

“Aish, what did I get myself into?” he asked once again followed by a low grunt as he turned over in his bed once again.

“Oh gawd” HyukJae said breathlessly as he notices DongHae lying in the bed across from him.

He didn’t respond he just stared at him intently, trying to read what the other is thinking. HyukJae wasn’t the only one having an issue with the others presence. It bothered the brunette that he couldn’t get a good read on the blonde. Lee DongHae was known for reading people, even when they didn’t want to know their deepest darkest secrets, he would know. But with Lee HyukJae, he couldn’t figure it out; it didn’t make sense to him.

It wasn’t because he couldn’t read him at all; it was more like he couldn’t read everything about him. There was a part that was being blocked, a part that HyukJae himself was completely unaware of. That intrigued him and frustrated him at the same time.

Seriously what’s his problem? He acts like he’s nice during the day time, well not really but somewhat courteous but at night someone different. The strawberry blond thought as he continued to look in DongHae’s direction.

“I don’t have a problem” DongHae said as he sat up on his bed in one swift movement. “It seems like you have the problem” the brunette continued to say he tilt his head to the right side a bit.

“You think I have a problem” HyukJae said in defense as he too sat upright in his bed.

“Yes you” Hae replied as he looked at HyukJae from head to toe. “Every time you toss and turn in that bed, it annoys me.” DongHae said after silence fell between them.

“What...? Oh...” Hyuk became somewhat embarrassed and shy. “So it does bother you, I didn’t mean to annoy you or anything like that, it’s just that...” Hyuk stopped his ramble when DongHae turned around in a blink of an eye and was in sleep position again.

“Either get used to the bed or switch rooms.” DongHae said in low tone.

“Sorry” HyukJae mumbled as he too lay back down in his bed.

As the days progressed HyukJae started to fall in suit with his daily routine and habit. He tried his best not to pay attention to DongHae’s in’s and out’s. He was looking forward to the weekend, not for any particular reason, he just wanted the extra time to sleep.

Friday night the dorms got extremely loud, HyukJae was running a fever. His body was hot and he was weak, he felt like his blood was boiling beneath his skin. He wanted peace and quiet but that he couldn’t get. Only thing he was grateful for was that DongHae wasn’t in the room and staring like he’s been doing.  Hyuk has just about had it with all the staring he does.

A small knock at the door, which sounded way louder than it’s supposed to be.  HyukJae thought about getting up and then put his head back down.

“Hey” SungMin whispered as he slowly made his way into the room. “I know that you are not feeling 100% so I just wanted to check on you before I go out” SungMin said as he walked over to Hyuk’s bedside.

“Are you going to be gone for long?” Hyuk asked as he focused on SungMin’s attire.

“Yeah, I’ll be gone for awhile” SungMin said as his face showed that he didn’t really want to leave his new friend behind.

“Oh…” was all the strawberry blonde could think to respond with.

“If you need me, just give me a call and I’ll be here ASAP” SungMin replied with a small smile.

“If I was feeling better would you have taken me with you?” Hyuk asked out of pure curiosity.

“No…,” SungMin answered and took a moment to think of what to say.

“Oh ok” Hyuk finally said after silence fell between the both of them.

“Don’t sound like that.” Ming said as he got down on his knees to be at eye level with HyukJae. “It’s not that I won’t take you, I just don’t think you are ready.”

“What is that suppose to mean?” HyukJae asked sitting up.

“Just means that you are still trying to get settled in here. I don’t want to overload you with certain things?”

“What do you think I can’t handle?” Hyuk asked with questioning eyes.

“I’ve told you before that your eyes aren’t open and I don’t think this would be a smart decision.”

“How do you know what is best for me?” Hyuk asked a little defensive.

“I don’t, but I’m just expressing what I think. Please don’t be like this, and just trust that at this very moment, I know best.” SungMin tried to plea.

HyukJae stared SungMin down a bit, noticing that there was some concern there, he conceited “okay, say you’re right.”

“Thank you. Just call me if you need anything” SungMin said as he got up and left the room.

As soon SungMin left his room, Hyuk got dressed and started following SungMin. Although he wanted to just forget and leave it behind, his curiosity got the best of him. What also peak his interest was the fact that SungMin was dressed in all black. The same way as the guys he told HyukJae to stay away from.

“Where is he going?” Hyuk said as he tried to keep up with SungMin who was heading towards the wooded area of the school grounds.

It didn’t take long before he lost sight of SungMin as he entered the mini forest that rest behind the dorms. HyukJae tried to pick up the pace, but the faster he went the more disoriented he got.

“Where the hell did he go?” He asked feeling exasperated. “Maybe he was right” he said to himself as put his hand towards his head.

Everything started to spin around him, “Aish, why is this happening again” Hyuk said as he started to feel his legs go weak.

Off and on as long as he can remember, this happens, where he gets so weak that he becomes hospitalized. The only thing they were able to do was a blood transfusion because when his blood count was low, as if something was eating away at his blood supply. Doctors found it odd but since it didn’t happen as often, they just wrote it off and did the same thing over and over, give him blood.

The sudden movement making the leaves ruffle on the ground caught Hyuk’s attention, startling him in his weak state.

“SungMin...” He called out looking in the direction of where he heard the sound, by the time his head went to the spot, nothing was there. “Ming is that you...” he continued to say as his voice fades out.  He tries taking a few steps forward, only to stumble to his hands and knees.

“You seem to be lost,” a familiar voice spoke as he leaned down around Hyuk. “And in need of some help” The guy continued to say as he tilted HyukJae’s head up with the tip of his finger.

“SungMin...” Hyuk started to say as he tried to hold himself up, digging his nails into the ground.

“What” the figured said with clear annoyance in his voice.

“I need SungMin...ple...” Hyuk tried to reply, but his body along with voice gave way.

For a moment the guy just froze in his position, barely hold HyukJae so he wasn’t face planted into the ground. He turned him over in his arms and examined the figure below him.

“What are you?” the guy said as he looked at HyukJae’s face. “You’re definitely not like the rest” He continued to say as he looked and wondered about the figure within his grips.

Several minutes passed before HyukJae came too.

“When did you get here DongHae?” He asked as he sat up, removing himself from DongHae’s embrace. “What happened?”

“I don’t know you’re the one who passed out” DongHae said, as he stood up brushing off his pants.

“Ugh I wish SungMin was here” Hyuk thought to himself as he looked at DongHae.

“What are you doing out here, you know these areas are off limit?” DongHae questioned as got his resolve back, and kind of annoyed that here he was with him but he is thinking about someone else.

“I was following SungMin, but I lost him” Hyuk said as he got to his feet rather slowly.

“You follow him, yet you don’t know him.” An evil smirk found its place on the brunettes face as he moved in closer towards HyukJae.

“What do you mean I don’t know him?” Hyuk asked as he took a careful step back himself.

“SungMin might act like he’s protecting you, but maybe you will need protection from him” He continued to say with an all too knowing smirk on his face.

“Obviously I don’t know him through and through, but I know I can trust him, you on the other hand...” Hyuk was saying, until DongHae closed the space between them, pinning Hyuk against a tree.

“You have no clue what goes on in his head” DongHae said as he leaned in by his right ear.

“Neither do you” HyukJae shot back.

“But I do...” DongHae said letting his voice linger around Hyuk’s ear. “And I know just how badly he wants to...”

A loud thud cut DongHae’s words off, the sound frightened HyukJae that he didn’t even see what happened, he was too caught up in to what DongHae would’ve said next.

“I already told your little friends that he is off limits” SungMin said in complete rage.

“Who do you think you are?” DongHae said as he got back to his feet.

“He was helping me SungMin” Hyuk tried to ease the situation.

“I know exactly what he was trying to do” SungMin said as he brushed HyukJae’s hand off of his arm.

“You should show this side of you more often, and then maybe you would fit in better.” DongHae said as he moved towards SungMin and Hyuk.

“Fit in where?” Hyuk asked looking blankly at the both of them.

“Why do you keep secrets from your new BFF, SungMin-ah” DongHae teased.

“Be quiet” SungMin said through gritted teethes.

“Hyuk, do you know that he thinks about how you taste?” DongHae continued to push at SungMin.

“Taste..?” Hyuk repeated the word as he looked at SungMin with utter confusion.

“He wonders how good you taste, look at him now,” DongHae said as he nods his head in SungMin’s direction from Hyuk. “Look how tense he’s getting.” DongHae said as a devious smile took place on his face.

“Shut up” SungMin said one more time through gritted teeth, but with more anger behind it.

“I know you smell that” DongHae continued to taunt as he looked from SungMin to HyukJae.

“Smell what?” Hyuk asked feeling more lost and confused as this confrontation went on.

“Youuuu” DongHae stretched the word out staring at Hyuk sending chills through his body.

“Always have to be this way” SungMin said before he lunged towards DongHae crashing through several trees before coming to a stop.

HyukJae gasped as the fight broke out before him. They were too fast, his eyes couldn’t keep up. The only reason he knew they were still at it was because of the sound of each blow that landed on one another and the trees breaking from their impact.

“Stop...” Hyuk began to plea, hoping that the two would stop. “Please stop!” He yelled as he continued to hear the crashing of the hits or breaks. His attempt to get them to stop was pointless, they couldn’t hear him, and they were too caught up in a long overdue battle.

They continued to throw hits at each other, drawing blood. They barely missed HyukJae as they both fought for the upper hand.

“Stop” HyukJae began to mentally say in his head.  He continued to repeat it until he had enough of it. “STOP!!!”

Both figures were stopped dead in their tracks.

“I said stop” HyukJae said in a serious tone, holding both DongHae and SungMin’s attention.

“I can’t move” DongHae said more to himself than anyone else.

“Neither can I” SungMin said.

“Why...?” DongHae asked as he turned his head towards SungMin.

“Because you should’ve listened to me” SungMin replied without taking his eyes off of HyukJae.

DongHae looked back towards Hyuk and saw something in his eyes, he couldn’t tell just what it is, but he knew that wasn’t the same boy he shares room with.

“Are you two done with all your fighting?” Hyuk asked coming back to himself, calmer.

“Yes.” SungMin responded right away.

“Good” after the words left his mouth; he collapsed to the floor, leaving DongHae and SungMin to stare in his direction confused and in horror.
