I take back everything bad I’ve ever said about him. God, if you can just deliver him back safely to us just this one time, I swear, I’ll be good to everyone I ever meet ever again. Please, don’t let him die.

It had been a full twelve minutes since Suho got the call from the hospital.

A full twelve minutes.

Suho ran faster, unable to even bear the thought of not being there for Chanyeol’s last breaths.

His shoes pounded hard against the pavement, the volume rivalling that of the thudding of his heart against his ribcage. Even though his eyes were blurry with tears, he managed to decipher the red print on the sign that marked the hospital.

Suho’s feet skimmed across the steps, skipping over three stairs at a time. He leapt onto the carpeted waiting room area, then ran straight into the nurses’ desk with a loud thud.

“Park Chanyeol,” he managed to wheeze. The nurse blinked at him before pointing a single finger in the general direction of the nearest room. Suho sprinted across the hallway, almost knocking over a group of children in his haste.

He burst through the door, gasping for breath. “I’m here!”

“Oh, hey, hyung.”

It took him a moment to register the scene in front of him through the haze of vigorous exercise. The eighteen blocks he had run plus the four flights of stairs he had climbed left him more than a little woozy.

But there was Chanyeol.

There was Park ing Chanyeol sitting on a hospital bed with a Pokemon bandaid on his forearm, ling contentedly on a lollipop as a nurse dabbed at his scraped knee with an alcohol wipe.

“The doctor said you were hit by a car!” Suho shouted, startling the nurse. She shot him a disapproving look.

Right on cue, Chen and Luhan started giggling, emerging from behind the curtain that divided the hospital room.

“Dr. Kim Jongdae, at your service,” Chen greeted in a deep voice. Suho’s eyes were bugging out of his head.

“I was hit by a car though!” Chanyeol protested once he saw his leader’s extremely unamused face.

Luhan snorted. “You ran into a car because you don’t know how to stop on rollerblades. It wasn’t even moving, stupid.”

Suho shut his eyes tightly and spoke his next words through gritted teeth: “What. the. .”
