Chapter Fifty-Nine

Jessica dropped her knife suddenly, interrupting the sweet and romantic conversation she was having with Yuri. Before she could bend down and pick it up, Yuri took the fallen knife away and gave her a new one.

“Use this, Sica.”

Jessica gladly accepted it and continued to attack the bacon on her plate. Yuri couldn’t help but chuckled at the sight of the kiddy-looking Jessica. She reached out an arm and ruffled the golden locks.

“Clumsy Sica.” She laughed and teased the blonde.

And that definitely made Jessica unhappy. She stopped whatever she was doing and pouted at Yuri… with an extremely displeasure glare.

Yuri laughed again before returning to her seat. She picked up her utensils and continued with the breakfast, “I’m just kidding!” She cut a small piece of the sausage and poked it with her fork. “You’re my cute baby Sica~~” She held the sausage in front of Jessica’s face, offering her to eat.

Jessica ignored the presence of the sausage and frowned at Yuri. “I’m not a baby.” She snorted and returned her focus to the plate of breakfast before her.

She is good enough to feed herself, hing!

“Aww… are you angry with me?”

Jessica looked up and stuck out her tongue at Yuri.

“You’re indeed a baby.”

Jessica dropped her utensils and glared at Yuri, “YAH!”

Yuri ignored her glare however. She scooted closer towards Jessica and embraced her with one arm.

“You’re not just any baby.” She whispered into her ear affectionately. “You’re my Sica baby.”

Stephanie couldn’t get any worrier. Taeyeon said she was going to the town to grab some stuffs and left their home before the sun set. It was going to be midnight soon and she was nowhere to be seen.

Though Taeyeon did mention that she was going to be late, Stephanie was assuming let’s say… around seven? Or eight in the evening? She wasn’t expecting Taeyeon to be gone until now.

Finally unable to contain her anxiety, Stephanie got up from the bed and exited their bedroom. She walked straight to the main door and went out of it, entering the darkness outside their house.

It was going to be another day again in a few minutes’ time. Stephanie hugged herself tightly when she felt the cold air brushing against her bare skin. The air was really chilly that she thought she might freeze any second now, but she didn’t care. Her mind was preoccupied by her lover who had not returned home yet.

“Taetae…” Stephanie bit on her bottom lip worriedly. She wanted to go out and find Taeyeon badly, but Taeyeon forbid her from entering the woods – which separated their house from the village – during night time, saying that it was dangerous for a defenseless girl like her.

Stephanie understood that whatever decisions Taeyeon made for her were all for her own good, but who cares about safety when her lover might be in danger?

Taking in a deep breath, Stephanie had decided. She shall ignore Taeyeon’s instruction for once and gets out of here to search for her.

“Where are you going?”

Exactly after Stephanie made her first step, a familiar voice rang from behind stopped her. She felt a tug on her arm and found herself looking at furious looking Taeyeon the next second.

“I told you not to go out at night and stay indoors! Why aren’t you listening to me?”

Stephanie couldn’t hear a word Taeyeon was saying. Her mind was too occupied by the fact that Taeyeon had returned home. Tears started to gather around the rim of her eyes and before anyone was able to react, they were already running down her cheeks like a stream.

“Taetae…” Stephanie cried out loud and hugged Taeyeon tightly. “Taetae! Taetae!”

Taeyeon was utterly shocked by Stephanie’s reaction. Her reprimanding came to a halt automatically when she saw her lover’s tears. She quickly wrapped an arm around Stephanie’s waist, while the other hand stopped at the back of her head, patting her, trying to comfort her.

“Hush Phanie… Hush…”

Stephanie couldn’t stop crying, “Taetae! Taetae!” Her arms around Taeyeon’s shoulder were tightening. It was as though if she loosened a little bit, Taeyeon would be gone again.

“Hush… Phanie-ah, I’m here… Don’t cry…”

“Taetae… I thought… I thought you were in da-danger…” Stephanie stammered through her words. Tears were choking up her voice badly.

It suddenly struck Taeyeon that she was the reason Stephanie tried to go out. Her girlfriend was worried for her safety. She wanted to risk her safety for the sake of searching for her. Yet, the first thing she did after she came back was to scold her.

Taeyeon had never been so regretful for the whole of her life.

“I’m sorry Phanie-ah… I’m back, ain’t I?” Taeyeon pulled herself away from Stephanie’s embrace gently. But she leaned in almost immediately, using her lips to capture every single drop of tears she spotted. “Don’t cry… I’m right here with you…”

Stephanie calmed down upon Taeyeon’s kisses. Still sniffing, she delivered a light punch on Taeyeon’s chest.

“I hate you…” She pouted. Hate you for scaring me so badly!

An amused smile was spread across Taeyeon’s face when she felt the harmless punch on her chest. She chuckled to herself as she continued to kiss Stephanie despite the tears were all gone. “I’m sorry…” Peck! “Sorry…” Peck! Peck! “Sorry…” Peck! Peck! Peck!

Stephanie couldn’t help but grinned to herself because of those teasing kisses. She pulled herself away from Taeyeon and placed a finger on her lips.

“No more!”

That was definitely not enough to stop a playful Taeyeon. Smirking against the tender finger, Taeyeon opened swiftly and captured Stephanie’s finger with it. While trapping her finger in , Taeyeon took this opportunity to pull Stephanie closer to her, having their bodies pressing closely against one another.

“Taetae!” Stephanie pouted at her. Her other arm slid across Taeyeon’s shoulder naturally and encircled her neck.

Taeyeon grinned and released Stephanie’s finger. She slipped her hand to Stephanie’s back and pushed her further closer to her.

“Just one more kiss, okay?”

Without waiting for Stephanie’s reply, Taeyeon leaned in and captured Stephanie’s lips with her own ones. Stephanie gladly accepted the kiss and responded to her.

It had been quite awhile ever since Jessica suffered from the mutant’s attack and she had pretty much recovered from it. Although it was not necessary for Jessica to go through this, Yuri thought that it would be better if Jessica knew a bit of combat just in case if she wasn’t around, Jessica was still able to protect herself.

Standing in the middle of the training room, Jessica stared at Yuri nervously. She had never thought of doing this, moreover she was going to learn it from Yuri. Jessica stared at her own palms. The flawless skin was indicating something. She really wondered if she was able to learn it well or not.

Just then, a pair of hands – slightly larger than hers – captured her hands. Jessica looked up and her eyes met Yuri’s gentle gaze. The latter flashed her usual smile at her and Jessica returned her a similar one.

“Don’t worry. I’m not going to bite you.” Yuri joked.

Jessica giggled, “Let me bite you then?”

Yuri looked at her with puppy eyes, “Aww… You want to bite me?” She lifted her hand to Jessica’s lips.

Jessica couldn’t control herself and laugh at the sight of a pitiful looking Yuri. It was extremely rare to see Yuri acting like this. Holding Yuri’s hand in hers, Jessica leaned forward and rested her head on Yuri’s shoulder.

“Of course I won’t.” She closed her eyes and whispered. “I will never bear to hurt you.”

Yuri grinned and let go of Jessica’s hands. She wrapped her arms around Jessica’s waist, pulling them closer to one another. “Silly girl, I should be the one saying that.” She leaned down and placed beside Jessica’s ear. “I’ll protect you from any harm.”

“Yuri…” Jessica pulled herself away from Yuri slightly and stared into her eyes.

Yuri returned her gaze at her. She saw gratefulness in Jessica’s eyes, but there was also another emotion which Yuri couldn’t comprehend.

As much as Yuri wanted to figure what that was, her mind was forced to drift away from the topic when she felt Jessica’s lips pressing against hers. Her curiosity was gone like a wind. The only thing she had in mind now was to respond to Jessica’s kiss and she reacted exactly like what she thought.

Little did the engrossed couple noticed, the supposedly closed door to the training room had just swung open. An oblivious hunter had just walked into the training room with two bags of snacks in her hands.

“HOLY––––MY INNOCENT EYES!”

The intruder screamed her lungs out and dropped the bags of snacks to the ground as she tried to protect her innocent eyes from the rated (?) scene happening in front of her. Yuri and Jessica jerked up in surprise upon the scream, and removed themselves from each other hastily.

“YAH!” Yuri pointed her finger at the intruder in disbelief when she saw the face of the intruder. “WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING IN HERE CHOI SOOYOUNG?!”
