“You didn’t fail me, eh?” Xander smirked and stood right in front of you.

“Of-of cour-se n-not.” you answered with a stutter, since you were now trapped in the situation you have no choice but to go with the flow.

“I shouldn’t have underestimated you. Tsk! Tsk!” He slowly shook his head, still wearing his smirk. You started to step backward once you thought of L.Joe. You were feeling guilty, you think L.Joe isn't that bad, based on your encounter with him today.

“Are you going to pick me up?” you warily asked and looked back at your house, hoping that he will keep his words from this morning.

“Well~” He crossed his arms at his chest and thoughtfully caressed his chin with his thumb. “What do you think?” he asked. You then looked at him with hopeful eyes, PLEASE-LET-ME-STAY.

“Since I’m a man of my words, I think…” your eyes sparkled in delight as soon as you heard his starting words. “I will allow you to stay a night with your mother.” He finished.

You couldn’t help but smile, clasp your two hands together and feel your eyes tearing up. “THANK YOU!” you didn’t know why but you were just so happy that you were able to beam at him, maybe because of gratefulness.

“That was the first time I saw her smile.” Xander thought. It’s true, since you two have known each other you never showed anyone a happy expression. Sudden a glint of delight his heart. He couldn’t deny that you got even more pretty and beautiful when you smile. “Xander! what are you thinking?!!” He immediately shook it away.

“Don’t thank me. I told you if you are obedient enough, you will get your reward.” After what he thought a while ago, he still managed to keep his cool and unreadable face.

“But your father~?” Your smiled deflated once you remembered the evil man.

“That is…my business.” He said. You curiously looked at him, so he will talk to his father?

He flashed you another smirk, and began to leave but stopped to remind you something. “A night only.” He gave you a stern look. “You still need to go to that school, araso!” He added and didn’t wait for you to respond but walked away.

You watched his back disappear from your sight. You didn’t know why but somehow you feel grateful toward him. “You’re not that bad, I…guess.” You sighed and looked back toward your house. “UMMA!” You smiled at the thought of seeing your mother. You happily run towards your house. You rang the door bell and seconds later, the door opened revealing your pale and now slim mother on the other side.

“_______-ah.” Your mother softly called, obviously shocked at your presence.

“UMMA!!” You didn’t waste another second and threw your arms around your mother and hugged her as tightly as you can. Your mother started to cry and hugged you back.

“_______-ah, sweetie. I missed you so much.” Your mother said through sobs.

“I miss you too Umma!! So much!!” You responded. As you were hugging your mother, you could tell that she lost so much weight. You pulled back from the hug.

“Umma, are you sick?” You worriedly checked her body. “You look so pale.” You then commented.

“Ani. I’m fine.” Your mother shook her head while she answered you and took your hand to lead you toward the living room.

“What happened? What did they do to you? What work are you doing? Were they hurting you? Omo! I’m so worried about you.” She continuously asked and slightly gripped your hand. Your heart started to strike in pain. You wanted so badly to tell her about your suffering but you just can’t. For one, you will make her worry about you, and two, she might be in danger. You then shook your head and gave her a light smile.

“Aniyo, I’m doing well in there. Yes, I have work but it’s easy.” You chuckled as you stated your lies.

“I’m really worried. Those evil people were always here every day just to check on the house and probably, checking on me.” You frowned as you heard your mother say that, you thought they were treating your family as prisoners. Anger started to build up in your mind again.

“Did they allow you to come back home?” your mother questioned.

“No.” You answered and lowered your head. You felt like crying at the moment, you just couldn’t show your mother. “They just gave me one night.” You mumbled.

“That short?” Your mother frowned.

“Ye.”

“Those evil people!! They killed your father and they still want us to suffer!” Your mother couldn’t help but to be mad at the thought of the people who brought disaster upon your family.

“It’s okay Umma, at least I’m relieved that you are doing well, I’ll take care of everything.” You assured.

“But I don’t want you to suffer so much.” She hugged you again and slowly your back the same way she did before, with tender loving care.

“I’m fine Umma, don’t worry about me.” You hugged her back. “I love you Umma.”

“I love you too sweetie, so much.” Your mother responded.

You spent the rest of the night together with your mother. Making sure that you were doing everything that you had missed for almost a month already. You slept together in your mother’s room.

As you tried to fall asleep, you remembered your father~

“I miss you Appa.” A tear ran down your cheek while you hugged your sleeping mother. After a couple of minutes, you had finished crying yourself to sleep.
