Wonho was too deep chatting with his friends that he didn’t notice Jieun was gone. Only when Lisa moved away and he finished talking with Jungmin, he realized that Jieun was nowhere in sight. He searched everywhere in the house but she wasn’t there. Then he started asking and some told him that they saw her drinking then leaving the pension.

Wonho looked over the table of drinks and his eyes widened finding what Jieun had drunk. She can’t even bear soju yet she drank tequila… Wonho dashed out without bothering to get his coat. He was expecting to find Jieun somewhere in the huge garden of pension but she wasn’t there and Wonho was getting worried more and more each second.

A long high pitched scream broke the absolute silence of the night. Wonho’s heart stopped beating for a moment. It was Jieun’s voice. Wonho started running toward the direction and as he got near the old wooden bridge over the passing river, he saw Lisa crying for help.

“She fell down… oh god… I didn’t mean it… she just fell…” Lisa cried while pointing at the river. Jungmin and other who followed Wonho after hearing the scream glanced back and forth at the two-meter height bridge then the ice cold water down.

Wonho didn’t think twice. He ran up the bridge and without hesitating dived in. The freezing water greeted his already cold body but he couldn’t care less. All he could think was Jieun and all he could see was her body drowning slowly down into the pitch dark. He splashed the water away and reached for her just in time. Tilting his body, he sheltered her from colliding with the rocks on the river bottom. He held onto her numb body tightly and swam out to the surface of the water.

Gathering all his strength, Wonho dragged Jieun outside water and lied her on the ground.

“Jieun ah… yah… Kang Jieun…!”

They were both soaked and Wonho was panting and shaking crazily but that didn’t stop him from calling her name like a mad person. Blood was streaming down his temple but he couldn’t feel anything but the pain of losing Jieun.

Others gathered around them to help but somehow they were hypnotized by the scene. It was so dramatic how Wonho pushed away her drenched hair away from her face, cupping her face with both hands, he cried his name desperately. It looked like a movie scene and no one could barge in, they just kept silent and watched how Wonho was putting his all into saving her.

Wonho couldn’t catch his own breath properly but he bent down on her face and pressed his mouth against hers, blowing air into her lungs and praying that she would breathe again.

He pulled away panting to check on her but there was no sign of her breathing. “Come on…” Wonho yelled while fighting the tears that were threating to fall down. “Come on Jieun ah…” He bent down and continued blowing air again, more desperately this time.

Finally, after doing the mouth-to-mouth for a few times, her chest raised and she started breathing again on her own. As she was coughing hard to get rid of the water in her lungs, Wonho titled her body to the side and after a few minutes of coughing and distorting to herself in pain, she vomited out all the water.

Wonho lied her back to the ground and leaned over her with a worried to death face. “Jieun ah… you hear me?” He asked while panting.

Jieun was dizzy and couldn’t focus on what was happening around her. Her body was numb and frozen and she couldn’t feel anything. She only opened her eyes for a brief second and saw Wonho bending over her. Water was dripping from his drenched hair, however, in between, a tear skipped his eye and fell on her cheek. Jieun closed her eyes again.

Wonho cried her name again, becoming a mess. Jungmin finally stepped in, seeing her pale skin getting shades of light purple.

“We should keep her warm.” Jungmin tried to help Wonho to carry Jieun but he held her up the ground quickly without any help and started running toward the house. All way there he was pressing her trembling body against his shaking chest and kept on calling her name.

Jungmin led him to the first bedroom and Wonho lied her on a bed. He covered her with blankets while hugging her but Jungmin’s girlfriend, Yura, quickly suggested to change her clothes to dry ones.

Wonho quickly ripped out the wet clothes and with Yura’s help, he changed her soaked clothes to dried ones. They covered her with blankets again. Jungmin came in again and forced Wonho out to take care of himself.

“Leave me alone.” Wonho shouted and desperately fought against Jungmin.

“Goddamit Hoseok, you’re bleeding!” Jungmin finally shouted in anger and Wonho looked at his hands. Till now he was assuming that they were wet because of water but the red colored liquid was indeed blood.
