Jieun almost forgot about her thesis when she started playing with Minjun and Wonho. The baby boy was playing around restlessly making it hard for them to catch their breaths.

Wonho decided to make lunch. Jieun was worried about him cooking but he did well. Except for the little accident that he cut his finger and whined for ten minutes about it, everything went perfect and the food was edible. After lunch Wonho left for practice.

Minjun was tired and watched cartoons till he fell asleep on Jieun’s lap. Jieun was also dozing off when the doorbell went on. She carefully placed Minjun’s head on a cushion before answering the door.

She was a bit nervous seeing Seyoung’s straight face but she bowed down and greeted her politely. Apparently, she had come straight from work. Her dark hair was tied in a low ponytail and she was wearing formal gray trousers with a white collar blouse.

“Please come in.” Jieun invited her in and to her surprise, she entered their apartment.

Seyoung went straight to her son and after making sure he is fine, she turned to Jieun. Jieun gulped, Seyoung had a poker face and she couldn’t find out if she was angry at her or hated her.

“Thanks so much for taking care of my son. It was a great help.” Seyoung finally said. Her voice and expression were soft and Jieun let out the breath she kept in.

“No problem, I’m glad that I helped.” Jieun smiled and asked her to have a seat and poured some coffee for her.

Seyoung held the coffee mug in her hands. “I’m sorry, I’ve treated you awfully.”

“I know my situation isn’t that acceptable in our society. I don’t blame you.” Jieun smiled bitterly.

Seyoung glanced at her apologetically. “Still… I did you wrong. It’s because of Minjun’s dad that I’ve become like this.” Seyoung sighed. “We were in love and we got married but when I was pregnant with Minjun, he started seeing another woman. I only found out that he was living with that woman when Minjun was two. We divorced then but still, I feel uncomfortable when I see people are living together. It reminds me of my ex-husband.”

Jieun nodded. “It must have been hard for you. I can’t even imagine it.”

“Yeah… but that’s life, any ridiculous thing might happen any moment.” Seyoung sipped her coffee. “Don’t think too much, not every man is like Minjun’s dad.”

Jieun nodded with a smile and sipped her own coffee. They’ve chatted for more and surprisingly they became close.
