Thirty Seven
things you said"Hey."
"Hey."
I reached out for him and felt him slip comfortably into my arms. Tightening my hold around him, I felt him squeezed my shoulder as if asking why I was extending our greeting into an actual hug.
"I missed you." I pulled away slowly, stealing a kiss as I did.
He smiled softly, continuing to pull away anyway.
"Where are we going?" Minwoo fell into place alongside me, leaning against me slightly.
"Away from all these. I'm stealing you for a day."
He laughed softly, nudging me with his shoulder as I slid my arm around his waist to stress my point.
A split second tension.
"A movie?" Minwoo turned to me and suggested.
"If you want." I shrugged.
"Then let's go." He smiled, covering my hand around his waist with his own. "Oh, and the popcorns!"
"And the popcorns." I agreed, staring at the back of his head as he hurried to the theatre's ticketing.
Out of my grasp.
-
I splashed water mercilessly onto my face as Minwoo looked curiously at me through the public washroom's mirror after our movie.
"Are you tired?" He asked quietly, placing his hand on my shoulder to slowly turn me towards him. "Sorry I made you come out on a Sunday night. You still have work tomorrow afterall."
"I made you come out." I corrected him, and he froze for a second. "I'm not tired, Minwoo. I haven't seen you for a month, I'm trying to cool myself down."
It was a joke.
Or at least it should be.
Minwoo withdrew his hand and exited the washroom quickly with a soft mumble.
"Sorry."
-
He beamed brightly when I exited the washroom, suggesting places for dinner while clinging onto my arm.
We didn't speak of the previous matter.
As if ignoring the white elephant in the room.
I let him choose the location, make small talks, and I tried to rationalise with myself.
I was overthinking it all.
He chose my favourite food off the menu and grinned at me when I commented that he remembered.
"Of course I do." He frowned slightly with a wide smile, as if in disbelief I would say such a thing. "I remember every single thing about you."
I let myself sink into this bliss a bit more.
That's right.
I was stealing him for a day, so no ugly thoughts should take this moment away from me.
And then his phone screen lit up, indicating a new message just as our food arrived.
He stood up suddenly with the expression I hate to see the most.
"I'm so sorry." He bit his lower lip guiltily. "I'll make this up to you."
He didn't wait for my reply, his eyes avoided mine.
I watched him dash out the restaurant, leaving two plates and one man behind.
