things you said"I'm sorry."
I tapped the table with my fingers and took in a deep breath. "It's okay, you must be busy."
"Thank you. I'll make it up to you."
That's the fifth time this month you're saying it.
"Yeah." I bit back my spiteful remark, trying a smile. "Remember to have your dinner anyway."
"Got it."
The silence after such a simple reply only made the situation so much worse.
I looked at the calendar sitting atop my desk and marked today's date with a cross over the previously written words. I had finished all my work assigned in those previous days I was cancelled on last minute, and so it's probably time to get back home and order some pizza while catching the evening news.
I tried to rationalise with myself that he at least calls an hour before, that he's trying his best to come for our dates before realising he was too tied up with whatever he has.
But the demons in my head keep speaking.
What is he so busy with all five times this month? Why does he not explain his situation to me? Was it school? Other activities?
It sounded childish but I wanted to know what took priority over me.
Was I not priority?
