“So you see here’s the little guy,” the doctor showed them their baby. The baby’s heartbeat was heard in the background and the two soon-to-be parents forgot all their pain upon gazing at the product of their love.

            “He’s beautiful,” Seohyun whispered and Yonghwa took her hand and gave it a kiss. She had tears in her eyes as seeing the baby made everything seem so real. Yes, she was almost seven months pregnant now but seeing the baby, moving inside her every now and then, squeezed her heart. He was worth all the times she worked hard and pushed herself to earn money so she’d be able to give her baby a home. He was worth all the heartache she went through.

            “Don’t cry,” Yonghwa whispered as he wiped away her tears.

            “He’s really beautiful Hyun, thank you,” he placed a kiss on her forehead as the doctor wiped away the gel on her stomach and silently put away the machine.

            “I’ll go off to print these photos for you two and give you a dvd of the ultrasound,” the doctor smiled at the two as he left to give them a moment.

            Yonghwa helped her to sit up and get down from the examination table. He assisted her to a chair and held her as they remained silent, content in each other’s presence. The doctor came back after a few minutes and chatted with them for a while.

            “So, I’ll see you two in two months time? Everything seemed normal and Ms. Seo’s blood pressure seems to be within range. I still recommend for her to rest as much as she could and not be on her feet much,” he smiled as he made notes. As they finished and said goodbye, the two went to the front desk and grabbed the copies of the ultrasound from the doctor’s assistant. She smiled at them and wished them luck.

            “I can’t believe it,” he whispered excitedly as he led her to the car. Seohyun smiled at him and went in as he got on the opposite side and drove off somewhere to grab some lunch. They ate and enjoyed a movie after as they spent the day together. As they headed home, Yonghwa noticed that Seohyun had grown quiet beside him.

            “Oh no,” Seohyun whispered beside him as they sat in traffic and Yonghwa looked at her worriedly.

            “What’s wrong? Are you in pain?” he asked and looked at her to check what happened.

            “I-I haven’t even bought any baby stuff for him. I was too focused on just getting by every day, saving every coin I could spare for the time I gave birth knowing it’ll be a bit costly. I didn’t think of doing all the things expecting mothers usually do!” she cried beside him and Yonghwa was at loss seeing her crying. He drove off to a quiet place to park before turning to face her and forcing her hands away from her face. Gently he wiped away her tears and kissed her on the lips, knowing that it usually worked to stop her from worrying too much.

            “Hyun, stop worrying too much! We still have time, okay? We’re in this together. Stop crying please, it’s not good for you or the baby,” he looked at her worriedly and she nodded.

            “I-I’m a bad mother, aren’t I?” she teared up again and Yonghwa saw how cute she was, her eyes wide and looking at him expectantly.

            “Nope. It’s just the hormones talking Hyun. Don’t worry about anything, I promised you I’d take care of you right? Besides, this way, we can shop for the nursery together.
