Forty Three
Free My Heart“There she is. See? You didn’t have to worry.” Woohyun rolled his eyes at L when they heard someone enter in the passcode.
“I’m home.” Aeri’s voice filled the house.
“Where have you been? Do you know how cold it is outside? Why didn’t you wear a coat?” L bombarded her with questions as she took off her shoes.
“You should at least have told us who you were going out with before you left.” He continued.
Aeri ignored him and proceeded towards her room.
“Kim Aeri! I’m talking to you.”
She brought her hads to her ears and blocked his voice.
Woohyun noticed something fishy and followed Aeri along with L, only to get the door shut on their faces.
Woohyun and L exchanged looks.
They had never experienced attitude from Aeri before.
“YA Kim Aeri. Open this door up. NOW!” L yelled pounding his fists against the door.
Aeri pulled the covers over her head and covered her ears with her pillows.
L was about to pound her door again when Woohyun stopped him and pulled him away.
“Don’t.”
“What do you mean, don’t?” L looked at him furiously.
“Maybe she’s going through a phase.” Woohyun said.
“Phase? Then let me talk some sense into her.” L tried to break free.
“Just let her be. Or at least let her calm down first.”
“We can’t just let her be. She wasn't like this before hyung.”
“Aeri’s 16. We have to learn to give her some space.” Woohyun looked into L’s eyes causing L to give in.
“Fine.” L headed to his room.

Aeri tossed around in bed trying to fall asleep.
But she couldn’t, especially not after what happened earlier.
“Ugh.” She pulled the covers off and sat up in her bed.

“Howon.” Aeri repeated.
“You…you remember me?” Hoya gasped loking at her with wide eyes.
“I remember everything. You were oppa’s friend, right?”
Hoya nodded.
“We went to your house the day…the day.” Aeri choked on her words.
“The day that oppa died…both of them.” Aeri broke down burying her face in her hands.
Hoya nodded.
“Aeri don’t cry. Neither of them wants to see you cry.” He hugged her.
“But they’re gone…both of them…I have no one left.”
“You have me.” He the back of her head.
“And I promise I’ll never leave your side.” He tightened his embrace.
“No…” She shook her head and pulled away.
Hoya’s eyes widened.
“Aeri what are you talking about?”
“I’m sorry. We…we can’t. It’s wrong. It’s all wrong. I don’t like you…I mean…I can’t. I love Dongwoo oppa, right? And no one can replace him.”
“Aeri that was the past.” He took her hands and searched for her eyes.
“I’m sorry Hoya…I mean Howon.” She left him without looking back.
