Lacey knew that Tao was just trying to protect her, but he really didn't need to hold her hand with such a deathly grip that made her feel like she was losing circulation. The two of them walked cautiously down the stairs, Tao making very sure that Lacey stayed behind him.
When they reached the bottom of the steps, Lacey pointed at the fallen lightbulb. "There it is!" She hissed at him.
Instantly, Tao released her reddened hand and sprung for the lightbulb. Gripping it tightly in his hands, tight enough that it should've cracked, he ran back to Lacey.
"Up, up, up!" He rushed. They sprinted up the stairs, not daring once to look back.
SLAM!
Tao and Lacey sighed in relief once they heard the door to the basement slam shut behind them. Tao handed her the lightbulb, but before he could break it, Lay interrupted.
"Prepare yourself." He said warningly to Tao.
"Lacey is always getting attacked before or after freeing someone." Luhan told him.
Lacey had almost forgotten that very important fact. She looked worriedly at the cardboard boxes that were in the kitchen. Some of them contained glasses, plates, and... knives.
Gulping, she told them, "Let's do this somewhere else." She suggested. They followed her to the living room. Hopefully this place is safe...
"Here it goes..." Lacey said, letting go of the lightbulb. As expected, it shattered into pieces when it made contact with the wooden floors. Instead of mercury being released into the air, a familiar black light surrounded them. Lacey put her arms out, already knowing that the person would fall into her arms after being freed.
"Oof!" She grunted, stumbling back a little when a deadweight fell into her arms. The darkness disappeared and she stared down at the man in her arms.
All she could see was brown hair and the man's bare . "What—!" Nearly dropping him in shock, she struggled to heave the man up.
"Baekhyun...!" Lay mumbled, quickly walking towards them. Instead of taking him in his arms, his hands glowed green and hovered above Baekhyun's back.
What's wrong with his back? Lacey thought. Slowly, she looked back down (trying to look away at his bottom) and gasped at the sight of his back.
Lacey had watched CSI shows before, seeing the corpses and gory injuries on the actors didn't faze her at all. The monsters in the basement definitely made her want to throw up from their grotesque looks, but this definitely beat everything she had seen so far.
Baekhyun's back was terribly stitched up, as if whoever gave him stitches didn't give a care for him. There were two long gashes parallel to each other on his back, both at the height of less than twelve inches. They were obviously infected, both areas surrounded by white dead skin. She looked away when she saw the dried pus.
The stitches didn't make it any better. It only added to the gruesomeness. There was a symbol of a star in the middle of his back, but she paid no heed to it, her main focus were the wounds.
Lacey had to bite the insides of her quivering lips.
Lay's healing could barely do anything for him. With a troubled sigh, he said, "I need to get rid of those stitches... Luhan help get him to a room."
Luhan used his telekinesis to gently lift Baekhyun's tortured body from the air, it floated in front of them as they headed for the room that Luhan was using. As carefully as possible, Baekhyun's form was placed on the bed, his back facing the ceiling.
"I'm going to remove the stitches, try and close the wounds, and then stitch him back with some... better material." Lay glared at the suture string that was used. It was too thin and it was weak, not helping closing the wounds together.
He turned to Lacey, "Do you have any suture thread that I could use?"
The only thread she had was the one used for clothes, not for surgical things like this. "No, but I'll go out to the store and buy some. Does it matter what kind? Nylon or silk? Something else?" She offered.
He shook his head, "No, our world hasn't even been given those kinds of luxurious for surgical needs. It's obvious that you're world is more advanced when it comes to things like this. Get whatever kind, and a needle too."
Lacey nodded her head furiously, about to run out of the room.
"Wait!"
She turned back around to face Tao. "Do you need someone to go with you?" He aske
