“Here we are!”   “Thank you Soo!”   “Good luck with the proposal buddy!” Sooyoung shout from the car while Yuri just gave her a hand up as a thank you sign as she ran off.   Yuri just came back from her base and rush through the hall way of her girlfriend’s apartment building to surprise her. She couldn’t wait to wrap her girlfriend tightly in her arms. Yuri is a military doctor so she’d stay away most of the time. It was hard for both of them especially for her girlfriend to stay in this kind of relationship. After a long debate, she finally decide to settle down and propose to her girlfriend.   Yuri quickly unlock the door and get inside. She rush to the bedroom when she heard noise coming from inside.    *thud* Yuri’s bag drop on the floor. Her eyes wide open in shock. Yuri excitement turn into anger. It tooks a lot of strength not to ran in there and rip the body of the girl hovering over her girlfriend’s body.   “Yul? H-how? When did you get here?”   Yuri couldn’t stand in the same room any longer. She pick up her bag and turn around to leave.   “Yul Wait!”   Yuri didn’t listen. She took heavy steps out of the room, but a hand hold onto her stopped her from leaving. Yuri yank her hand away from her girlfriend and turn to look at her in disgust.   “Don’t touch me!” Yuri’s voice cracked as she tried to hold back her tear.   “Let me explain.”   “Explain? This is clear enough to me. I don’t need to hear anymore lie from you. I can’t believe you cheated on me. I trusted you Sica. And you let me down.”   “I didn’t want to cheat on you.”   “Then why are you doing this?”   “I…I fell in love with someone else.”   “Whoa… I can’t believe this. Fell in love? Seriously? Sica, when you fell in love with another person while you are still in a relationship with someone else, that’s ‘cheating’.”   “I tried to break up with you a few times, but I couldn’t do it because you are always on a mission far away. I was planning to tell you about it when you came back, but I didn’t expect you to walk in on us like this.”   “Oh! So now I’m the obstacle?”   “Look Yul, I didn’t want us to end this way. I still hope we can still be friend. You are a good person Yul. I don’t want to lose you.”   “Apparently I’m just not good enough.” Yuri’s tear finally fall as she turn around and left Jessica’s apartment.     *   A few days later:   Yuri has been getting herself drunk for a few days now, and Sooyoung can’t let this go on, so she came over and keep her best friend in check.   “I’m sorry about what happen Yul.”   “It’s ok Soo. I’ll be fine. I just need sometimes to be away.”   “Again? I thought you asked the commander to stay in Korea from now on. Where are you going this time?” Sooyoung asked as she put her coffee on the table.   “I don’t want to see her. And I could use sometimes away from the city. The border seems to be the best option. There’s not much to do and I could do volunteer work and take care of the elder and kids over there. There’s not much doctor out there in the countryside, so military doctor would help them a lot.”   “Well if you already decide then I hope that this could help you forget about her.”   “Thanks buddy!”   “When are you leaving anyway?”   “Tomorrow night.”   “For how long?”   “6 months.”   “Wow 6 months? That’s long. I’m gonna miss you.”   “You can always visit.”   “I’ll make sure to go. Well! Take care of yourself Yul.”   “I will. You too Soo.”     *   Jessica’s apartment:   “Unnie!”   “Hey Krystal!”   “How could you do that to the captain- I mean Yuri unnie.”   “Can you blame me? How many time did we fight because she’s always on missions away from home. I’m lonely and I’m tired of waiting too.”   “You really have no idea, have you? She came back this time to surprise you that she will no longer accept anymore mission out of the country. She was suppose to propose to you that night. Yuri unnie is a good person and she loves you with all her heart, you will regret this unnie.” Krystal said and left Jessica stammered trying to comprehend what she just heard.   “Krystal wait!” Jessica ran after Krystal to stopped her.   “Wae?”   “Where is Yuri?”   “She left.”   “Left? You just said that she’s not going on a mission anymore.”   “That was the plan. But everything has changed now. She asked the commander for a deployment.”   “Where is she going?”   “I can’t tell you that.”   “Come on Soojung-ah.”   “Why unnie? I thought you told her that you are in love with someone else?”   “I didn’t know she was gonna propose.”   “What’s gonna change? You cheated on her unnie. I don’t think that going to see her would change anything. You need to make up your mind before you decide to break someone’s heart and worst hurting Yuri unnie again.” Krystal knows she was being rude, but someone need to knock some sense into her sister’s brain.   *   It’s been a week since Yuri arrived at Paju base camp. She settle down and she feel great. It’s nice and calm. She didn’t think about Jessica much for a few day since she’s busy taking care of the villager’s health the moment she arrived.   Yuri would run with her fellow soldiers every morning and doing the patrol every night.   Tonight is different, she wants to be alone.   “Captain Kwon!”   “Yes Private Kim.”   “We are going on patrol now, are you joining us?”   “No! I’ll just go for a walk around the lake.”   “It’s quite dangerous at night to walk around alone captain.”   “Don’t worry! I can take care of myself.”   “Yes ma’am. Please let me know if you need something.”   “Sure! Thanks.”   *   Yuri decide to make a camp fire by herself near the lake. It was dark and silent. Yuri took out a picture of her and Jessica from her wallet and take a look at it one last time before throwing it into the fire. She wipe away her tears as she watch their smiles burning into ashes.   Yuri put off the fire and ready to walk back to the base when she heard some weird noise coming from the wood. She saw a group of men chasing after someone. Yuri observe the scene and spotting someone hiding behind the tree. Judging by the white dress, Yuri knows that the person is a girl. So Yuri couldn’t just stand by and watch.   Even though, Yuri is a military doctor, she also receive basic training like any other soldier. She make her way toward the girl’s direction without those men notice and make sure not to make a sound as she hide behind one of the big tree. Yuri saw a bush not far from her and the girl is moving toward where she is. Once the girl reach the tree that Yuri was hiding, she grab her arm and swing her around putting her hand on the girl’s mouth to prevent her from screaming.    Yuri drag the girl toward the bush with her and pull her down to hide under there.   “Don’t make a sound.” Yuri whisper softly on the girl’s ear and the helpless girl could just nodded weakly, then Yuri pull her hand away from the girl’s mouth. “We will have to stay here for a while.” Yuri whisper again as she carefully look at their surrounding.   After making sure that those men left, Yuri get out of the bush and help the girl out.   “Follow me!” She said.   “Thanks for helping me. I’ll be on my way from here.” The girl said and was about to leave, but Yuri hold onto her wrist.   “It’s still dangerous. We don’t know if they are still out there. So just come with me. I will let you go when I’m sure that you are safe.”   “I said I’m fine.” The girl yank her hand away from Yuri and start walking away.   Yuri pouted angrily. How can someone be so rude to someone who just save her? Yuri give up and just walk back to her base.     *   1 week later:   Yuri is doing the patrol near the lake that she visit last week with her fellow soldier tonight. As they walk Yuri notice the light coming from a small cottage on the other side of the lake.   “Someone lives in that place?”   “Oh yes captain. It use to be an old lady’s house. She lived with her grand daughter, but it has been a while since she passed away. The place has been empty for a while now, though. I guess her grand daughter came back.”   “So you are saying that the girl might stay in that place by herself?”   “I’m not sure about that captain.”   “You can go back first. I will go and check.”   “Yes Ma’am.”   Yuri approached the place, but she stopped when she heard the sound coming from inside. She silently get closer so she could hear the sound better.    “You think you could just ran away like that huh? You were lucky last time, and you should have ran far away. How stupid are you to come back here?”   “This is my home. Now get out!”   “Shut up!” *slap* Yuri heard the slapping sound so she kick the door open and rush inside to find 3 men inside the house.   The girl’s doe eyes grew wide in surprise to see her barging in like this.   “Get away from her!” Yuri shouted at the man who just slap the girl.   “Who the hell are you?” He turn around and walk toward Yuri, but he stopped when Yuri pointed her gun at him.   “Take another step closer and I’ll make sure to burst your brain.” Yuri said and that man just chuckle and turn to his men.   “Take care of that stupid soldier, will ya?”   “Yes sir!” The two men quickly coming toward Yuri and *bang* Yuri shoot her gun up making them stopped.   “This is a warning. I’m not going to give you another chance. Leave this woman alone and be on your way.” Yuri said.   “Captain! Is everything ok?
