Keeping a Secret

"Alright, so I need you to look over these papers... Oh, who are these flowers from?"

JunShin raised her head and looked over to her desk. formed a small 'o' when she saw a vase full of red roses. She gulped down and looked at her colleague MinJi who seemed to be amazed by the flowers.

"These?" JunShin asked. "They're from my, um, parents."

"That's really sweet," MinJi smiled slightly. "Now, back to the papers..."

When MinJi left her office, JunShin hurried over to the flowers and immediately spotted a small message in them.

"To my love, from D."

"DaeHyun," JunShin rolled her eyes and quickly shoved the message into her purse.

DaeHyun was JunShin's boyfriend, and also the director of G.Ho Co. Since their company forbid employees from dating each other, DaeHyun and JunShin had to keep their relationship a secret. JunShin took her job seriously, sometimes too seriously as DaeHyun would say, but he on the other hand was always quite playful and he loved to annoy JunShin by showering her with affection even at work.

Nobody knew, of course, because he didn't do it in front of others. He would either send her flowers, like today, or he'd leave a secret letter to her in the papers he handed her, or he'd just order her favorite coffee. JunShin both loved it and hated it. She always felt like others would notice and then they would get in trouble. As a manager of the company, she didn't want that.

She was slowly getting completely focused on the work she was doing before her phone rang. Her head shot up and her eyes narrowed when she saw it was DaeHyun. With a sigh, she answered.

"How's my favorite manager doing?" he spoke up in a playful tone and JunShin couldn't help but to smile a bit.

"I told you to stop it," she said.

"Calling you a manager?" DaeHyun pretended he didn't know what she was talking about.

"The flowers," she told him.

"Ah, did you see how pretty they are?" he asked in such a happy tone that she had to smile.

"I did, but please don't do it anymore," JunShin sighed, looking over to the flowers. "You know I'm worried..."

"Yeah, you're worried they'll find out," DaeHyun cut her off. "I don't know, it's annoying to date like this. It feels like we're doing something wrong."

"Well it is wrong! It's against the rules...-"

"Always about the rules," it was DaeHyun's turn to sigh. "Look, I have to go now, let's talk about this during lunch."

"Alright," JunShin agreed.

"I love you," DaeHyun said.

"I love you too," she said with a small smile before hanging up.

It felt so right to be with DaeHyun. He was caring, sweet, nice and romantic. He was also head-over-heels in love with her and he was ready to do anything for her. But at the same time it felt wrong because they were breaking the rules. Maybe she was really taking the rules too serious, but could he blame her? JunShin shook her head, deciding to leave all of these questions for later.

It was lunch time and she was supposed to meet with DaeHyun in a coffee shop down the street. She entered the elevator while rummaging through her bag. She was trying to find her phone that she threw in earlier. She looked up when someone else entered and greeted him, before continuing her search.

"Hey, something fell out," Wooyoung, who just entered, said and crouched to get it.

JunShin's eyes spread wide when she noticed it was a note from earlier. She quickly crouched too and snatched it from Wooyoung's hand, giving him a small smile.

"Thanks, it's a really important number," she said.

As soon as she got to the floor she had to, she rushed outside to avoid any unnecessary talk. She sighed in frustration, thinking about what would've happened if anyone saw the message. They probably wouldn't even connect it to DaeHyun, she was just worrying too much. But every time he , JunShin felt as if everyone knew about them and that she would get into trouble real soon.

She entered the coffee shop where DaeHyun was supposed to be waiting for her, welcomed with a calming scent of coffee and flowers. The coffee shop had a relaxing aura, from the smell to light beige walls and small tables with comfortable chairs. It was almost full, but JunShin immediately spotted DaeHyun.

He had his back towards her, but she recognized his black haircut and a dark navy blue coat. He was facing a window, slowly sipping on his coffee. She smiled a bit and headed towards him.

"Hi," she said, slipping into the seat across.

His dark eyes lit up and his lips spread into a wide smile as he gave her a small 'Hi' back.

"There's nobody around," he quickly told her when she started observing the people. "I checked."

"For such a careful person, you do let yourself a lot when we're at work," she raised her eyebrows.

"I like teasing you," he told her, leaning forward. "You're always so serious, you should loosen up."

"Ah, I would, but the rules are also serious," she frowned a bit.

"Again with the rules," DaeHyun sighed and shook his head, his hair falling into his eyes.

"Well of course I think about the rules so much," JunShin said as she brushed his hair out of his eyes. "I don't want to get into trouble. What if I get fired?"

"I'm tired of hiding," he said after a small pause.

"I know," she sighed, "but there's nothing we can do for now. We can't take the risk..."

"Don't worry, I never wanted to risk your career," DaeHyun interrupted. "But I'm running out of ways to tease you secretly."

JunShin laughed a bit, which made DaeHyun smiled in return. There was once again a pause, in which JunShin ordered her coffee. She then waited for DaeHyun to say something, but he remained quiet, instead taking a sip of his own coffee and looking through the window. JunShin couldn't help but to admire just how good-looking he was even when he wasn't trying.

"What are you thinking about?" he startled her.

"Nothing," she quickly responded.

His eyes landed on her shortly and he shook his head, before looking back out again. It seemed as if he was in his own thoughts as well. The silence continued until JunShin's coffee arrived, and then DaeHyun finally focused on JunShin.

"I was thinking..." he started slowly.

JunShin raised her eyebrows as a question, but she waited for him to continue without saying anything. He sighed before continuing.

"I don't want to hide, it doesn't feel right," he said. "However, I know how serious you are when it comes to your career."

"You know how we work together with a few companies, one of them is that one big programming one," he added after a while.

"Yeah, Hect Co.?"

"Mhm," DaeHyun nodded. "Well, I was offered a place there."

JunShin's eyes grew wide at these news. The company was big and the offer was great, but she didn't know how DaeHyun felt about it, so she waited.

"Boss said it's a great opportunity. I'd technically still work together with everyone here, but I'd get to do some new things," he explained. "I've only been here for three years anyway, you know I don't stay at one place for too long."

JunShin nodded and smiled a bit. It was true. DaeHyun was quite an adventurer and he was always ready to change companies if he thought that the other one had better things to offer.

"I know how G.Ho Co. is important for you, so I don't want to make you feel so bad about our relationship," he smiled. "We'll still technically be working together, but we'll be allowed to date."

"DaeHyun... You'd do that for me?" JunShin finally spoke up.

"Of course I would," he shrugged. "Really, it's not that big of a deal, I'm just...-"

JunShin cut him off by getting up and hugging him and kissing him lightly. She heard him chuckle as he planted a kiss on top of her head.

"You're making me blush," he teased.

JunShin laughed and smacked his hand playfully, but she couldn't even start explaining at how happy she was, not just for the fact that DaeHyun did such a thing to improve their relationship, but also for the great opportunity he accepted.

"So then we have this information," MinJi was speaking as she walked alongside JunShin, showing her some papers.

As they reached JunShin's office she looked up and smiled.

"Again from your parents?"

JunShin also looked up and saw a bouquet of her favorite flowers in a vase on her desk. She knew exactly who sent that and spread into a smile.

"No, they're actually from DaeHyun," she said.

"Really?" MinJi asked. "Are the two of you dating?"

"Yes," she smiled, feeling good once she finally said that.

"That's great, I'm really happy for you!" MinJi said with an honest smile. "You know, we all thought you two had a chemistry together."

"Huh?" JunShin was taken by surprise.

"Well it was obvious by how DaeHyun would tease you that he really liked you," she chuckled. "We all wanted to see the two of you together, I think that even boss was quietly cheering for it, but you're always serious when it comes to work, always following the rules. Good thing DaeHyun got this opportunity, right?"

JunShin laughed at MinJi's blabbering. At one hand she found it funny how her colleagues wanted DaeHyun and her to be together, and at the other hand she knew that DaeHyun's teasing wasn't as secret as she used to hope it was.

When MinJi left the room, JunShin walked over to the flowers and looked for a message.

"Do you miss me already? -D" JunShin couldn't help but to laugh once again at his cheesiness.

DaeHyun was really the best boyfriend she could have.
