INT. ISLAND MANSION‘S LIVING ROOM - SAME TIME

Janna has now changed into a very revealing red dress. Her
hair was hastily done up into a bun. The moment she saw the
waiter with champagne, she immediately took two glasses and
downed one right away. Janna was really hurt by her friends’ betrayal, but most especially Enzo’s. She was now bent on making a fool out of herself. Maybe then she can get some pity out of them. She immediately downed her second shot.

She began looking for the waiter to get more shots, but Enzo and Liz stopped her.

ENZO
Janna...enough now...

JANNA
Enzo, leave me alone. Pakialam mo
kung magpaka-gaga ako?

ENZO
Janna, you’re drunk....don’t make a
scene here.

JANNA
Why, Enzo? Takot ka bang makita
nila na ang girlfriend mo'y nasasaktan
sa pinaggagagawa mo?

ENZO
I’m sorry, okay? Things had really
been crazy around here...

LIZ
Ako din Janna, I apologize...

JANNA
Sana lang, Enzo, huwag ka na lang
mag-sorry if you don’t really mean it.

LIZ
Janna please...

JANNA
Isa ka pa!

Janna leaves. Liz tries to follow her. On the way out, Janna
managed to grab two more wine glasses from a waiter. Enzo
remains, looking very frustrated. After Janna left, more
people came in to greet him. He looks very pensive.

INT. LENA’S BEDROOM - SAME TIME

Lena was done dressing up. She was looking at her own breathtaking reflection
on the mirror when her bedroom door opened. Lola Consuelo
enters.

DONA CONSUELO
Lena, ang ganda, ganda mo, iha!

LENA
Talaga po, Lola?

DONA CONSUELO
Bagay na bagay sa iyo ang damit mo!

LENA
Mas maganda pa nga to Lola kesa dun
sa nasira!

DONA CONSUELO
Siya nga, anak...O, ano? Ready ka
na ba? Halika baba na tayo. Sabik
na sabik na akong ipakilala ka sa
mga kaibigan ko...

LENA

EXT. MANSION GARDENS - CONTINUOUS

DON IGNACIO
Mr. Toribio, bakit mong naisipan
mag-invest dito sa Isla namin?
Napakaliit naming bayan, don’t you
think mas okay kapag sa malalaking
bayan ka na lamang mag-concentrate?

PIPO
I’ve done my research, Don Ignacio.
Yung mangga po dito sa isla
ninyo...wala na pong mas sasarap pa
dito. I had it assessed by
expert...top quality po talaga
ito...it must be the soil dito sa
isla...

DON IGNACIO
Hindi namin mapagkakaila yan! Is
that what brought you here? Mangga?
Akala ko sabi nila alahas ang
business niyo, Mr. Toribio?

PIPO

Don Ignacio. Kung maima-market
natin ng tama ang mangga ninyo,

kababayan ninyo...

big enough to supply an

if bawat pamilya dito sa Isla ninyo
mag tanim ng dalawampung puno ng
mangga, isipin niyo na lang in 10
years time kung gaano kadaming puno
na ang meron dito...

DON IGNACIO
It will take ten years time pa para
maging profitable ang business niyo,
Mr. Toribio...a lot can happen in
that ten years...

PIPO
But it’s a step in the right
direction, Don Ignacio. Diyan na
papasok ang company namin. What we
will do is supply the people in the
next ten years the equipment,
fertilizers, techniques, everything
to ensure na magiging successful
itong project na ito...

DON IGNACIO
And, that is where I come in too?

PIPO
Yes, Don Ignacio. We need an
investor...We decided to ask for
your help kasi alam naming how
committed you are to the island.

DON IGNACIO
Now, it’s clear to me...well, Mr.
Toribio...I must say I am impressed.
Gusto kong makita ang full
presentation ng project na
ito...come back next week and I’ll
look into your proposal. But,this
I can say to you now...I really
liked your business plan...

PIPO
I’m glad to hear that, Don Ignacio.

Suddenly, there was a bit of a buzz going inside the mansion
catching Don Ignacio’s attention.

DON IGNACIO
I’ll have to cut this conversation
short, Mr. Toribio...I think pababa
na ang adoptive daughter
namin...come inside, you should
meet her...

PIPO
Sige po, Don Ignacio. Susunod po ako..

Don Ignacio leaves. Pipo was disappointed that their
conversation was cut short...just when he was about to hit
the jackpot. A little more push, he would have gotten his
money. It would have to wait. He breathed a sigh and
followed the old man inside the mansion.

INT. LIVING ROOM / FOYER - SAME TIME

There was a collective gasp from the people at the foot of
the stairs the moment Lena and Dona Consuelo made their way
down the stairs.

Everyone moves closer to watch Lena go down the stairs.
Visitors and islanders alike were mesmerized by her beauty.

BABAE 1:
Si Lena ba iyan?

BABAE 2:
Talaga nga namang napakaganda
niyang bata. Parang artista o!

The moment she saw the crowd, Lena felt jittery. She held
firmly on to Dona Consuelo‘s arms. She then saw Enzo with
his jaw ajar. She smiled at him.

Enzo smiled back at Lena. He looked at her with a lot of
pride and longing in his eyes.

Don Ignacio was clapping his hands as he makes his way up
the stairs to meet them. He faces the crowd midway...

DON IGNACIO
Ladies and Gentlemen, ang dalawa sa
pinaka-importanteng babae sa buhay
ko. Ang aking maybahay na si
Consuelo at ang aming bagong apo na
si Lena...

People clapped.

Pipo moved in closer. He was so shocked seeing Lena come
down the stairs. It was as if he had seen a ghost. His face
was ashened.

For a moment, he felt really happy seeing his sister alive.
However, this thought was dampened by the reality that
seeing his sister there, means she can potentially ruin his
latest plans. Lena, being Ignacio’s apo, surely complicated
the matter. He discreetly rushes out of the room...Lena
doesn’t see him.

NEGROS GOVERNOR
Don Ignacio, talagang napaka-ganda
ng apo ninyo! Manang-mana sa inyo!

DON IGNACIO
Sa lagay na iyan, yung aking asawa
ang dapat ninyong batiin...sa kanya
nagmana si Lena...

Several other well wishers flock Lena. Somehow, her gaze
keeps coming back to Enzo. He remained in his place,
content in letting her take the spotlight.

EXT. MANSION’S GARDENS - CONTINUOUS

Janna found a sulking Rafael, alone on the garden. She walks over to him. The trailing Liz,
seeing that Janna was with Rafael, she decided that Janna
will be okay under his company. Liz leaves them both alone.

JANNA
Anong ginagawa mo dito? You look so
pathetic.

RAFAEL
Wala lang...nagpapahinga...madami
kasing tao sa loob.

JANNA
Talaga? Yun ba iyon...O baka ayaw mo lang silang
makita?... Do you want a drink?

Rafael immediately takes it.

RAFAEL
Salamat.

JANNA
Alam mo, Rafael...you’re a coward...

Rafael laughs.

RAFAEL
Brutal honesty has always been your
trademark, Janna...

JANNA
I don’t play games, Rafael. That’s
the difference between us.

RAFAEL
Hindi, Janna. Ang pagkakaiba natin
ganito...mahal ko si Lena kahit
alam kong mahal niya ay iba.
Tanggap ko iyon. Ikaw naman, alam
mo nang hindi ikaw ang mahal
niya...pinipilit mo pa rin ang
sarili mo.

I don’t give up easily, Rafael.
Someday, when all of this is
over...Enzo will thank me dahil
ipinaglaban ko siya...

RAFAEL

You are a fool to believe that Lena
will change her mind too...you see, we're creatures hounded by the same demon, Rafael...

Rafael felt slighted by the truth. He downed his last shot
and motioned to leave.

JANNA
O, saan ka pupunta?

RAFAEL
Uwi na ako...this party ...

JANNA
Madami pang exciting na magaganap, Rafael...you should stay...

RAFAEL
Spare me the details...Be good, Janna.

JANNA

Rafael leaves, Janna laughed at her minor victory.

INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Several minutes later, Lena was still being flocked by a
group of old lady visitors, curious of her identity.

VISITOR 1:
Is it true, Lena, that you survived
that boat tragedy. And that you
lost all of your family?

LENA
(faking a sniffle)
Yes po. Totoo po iyon.

VISITOR 2:
And we heard, iha...that you
suffered from severe amnesia?

LENA
Hindi naman po ganoon ka grabe. Pero oo, nagkoroon po ako
ng amnesia.

VISITOR 3:
You mean to say, may amnesia ka pa
hanggang ngayon?

LENA
May mga bagay bagay pa po akong
hindi maaalala.

VISITOR 2:
Mga ano yon, iha?

LENA
Tulad po nung kung ano talaga ang
nangyari doon sa barko...

Enzo, sensing that Lena is growing uncomfortable with the
conversation, joins the group.

ENZO
Tita Mel, medyo dinadamdam pa ho ni
Lena ang pagkawala ng Kuya
niya...kung pwede lang ho, sa ibang
mga araw na lang natin tanungin si
Lena tungkol dito...

VISITOR 1:
Ay siya ba, iho? Pasensya na
Lena...napaka-inspiring kasi ng
kwento mo...

VISITOR 2:
OO nga naman, Lena. Di bale, pag
handa ka nang magkuwento...gusto naming marinig
ang buong kwento mo. Kaibigan ko
si Charo Santos, pwede nating
isadula ang buhay mo sa MMK.

VISITOR 3:
Magandang ideya yan, mare! Sige,
Lena, ikinagagalak ka naming makilala.

LENA
Ako rin po, ikinagagalak ko ring
makilala kayo. Salamat din ho sa
pag-unawa.

The three ladies leave. Lena let out a sigh.

LENA
Enzo, salamat talaga...

ENZO
Akala ko nga ikekwento mo na ang
buong buhay mo sa kanila...

LENA
Sino ba ang mga iyon? Masyadong usisero.

ENZO
Taga-media ang mga iyon. KAya ingat
ka...baka bukas nasa diyaryo ka
na...at buong kwento ng buhay mo
nasa diyaryo na rin!

Enzo laughs. The thought bothered Lena. Having her story in
the papers will surely blow her cover. She instantly
became self-conscious. Enzo catches her worried reaction.

ENZO
Lena,bakit? May masama ba akong
nasabi?

LENA
Ay wala...wala to!

ENZO
Siya nga pala...bago ka pa ma-corner
ng ibang mga bisita...gusto
ko sanang sabihin sa iyo
na...napakaganda mo ngayong gabi...

LENA
Ngayong gabi lang?

ENZO
Araw araw Lena, ikaw ang
pinakamagandang babaeng nakilala
ko...pero lalo na ngayong
gabi...hindi ko alam kung anong meron sa iyo...
pero lumabas talaga ang tunay mong ganda...

LENA
(playfully)
Ah ganon? Ibig mong sa sabihin,

nakikita mo ngayon dito...

ENZO
OO, Lena. Hindi kita matanggal sa isip ko...

LENA
Ows, Talaga? Dito sa 30 square hectare

ENZO
Isama mo pa ang 300,000 square
kilometers ng buong pilipinas, ikaw
pa rin ang pinaka-maganda.

Suddenly, an angry girl appears beside them. It was
Janna...and she heard fully their meaningful exchange.

JANNA
(to Lena)
Oh my God, look at you...no amount
of make-up can ever hide your true
colors...

LENA
Janna...nagbibiruan lang kami..

JANNA
I was just gone for a minute and
here you are...flirting with my
boyfriend!

ENZO
Janna, please...don’t make a scene...

Everyone turns around to watch them. Don Ignacio and Dona
Consuelo moves closer. Liz moves in closer as well.

JANNA
Lena, you really are something.
You’re a sneaky, manipulative....liar!

ENZO
Janna, tama na...let’s talk about
this outside.

JANNA
(to Enzo)
I don’t want to go outside...let’s
settle this here...

LIZ
Janna...stop it. You’re making a
fool out of yourself!

JANNA
Liz, darling, there is going to be
only one fool tonight ...at ikaw
yun, Lena.

DON IGNACIO
Janna, enough now...

DONA CONSUELO
Iha, nakikiusap ako sa iyo...please
don’t make a scene...baka mapaano
ka lang...

JANNA
Lolo, Lola...please don’t make this
about me...it’s about her...that stupid
b*#ch wants to steal my boyfriend and she
wants to scam all of you!

The visitors gasp.

JANNA (CONTINUOUSLY)
Hindi niyo ba alam na niloloko niya
lang kayo? All this time, she has
been playing this "kawawa" act! She
has been playing with all of your
sympathies! Kasi, dito sa inyo,
buhay reyna siya! But kahit anong
gara ng damit ipasuot niyo sa
kaniya...nothing can change the

Janna then splashes Lena her wine. Her top is now drenched
in red wine. The visitors gasp once more.

LENA
Salamat, Janna.
(looking at Enzo and
his grandparents)
For a moment there, akala ko
nararapat na ako sa mundo
nila...thanks for the reality check.

Feeling raw and exposed, Lena rushes out of the
room...embarassed. Enzo gives Janna a vile look...

JANNA
Enzo, if you even run after that
girl...this will be the end of it...I won't
take you back...

ENZO
Thank you for making the decision
for me...

Enzo rushes out to follow Lena to the terrace.

Janna remains by herself. Guests starting to frown at her.

The elderly couple moves in, snatching the wine glass from Janna's hand. This caused Janna to step back.

DONA CONSUELO
Janna, kung niloloko man kami ni
Lena, kasalanan na namin iyon kung
magpapaloko kami. It’s none of your
business. Pero, Iha, Lena is no
more a fraud like you are. Si Lena,
nagpapanggap na maayos ang buhay

With that, the couple leaves. Janna remains dumbfounded.
She felt self-conscious from the venomous gazes the guests
are throwing at her.

EXT. MANSION’S GARDENS - SAME TIME

Away from the madness inside the mansion, Paco has finally
caught up to Tinay...she was now curled up on one dark
corner...crying!

PACO
Tinay, andito ka lang pala.

TINAY
Anong ginagawa mo dito?

Finding a seat beside her, Paco moved in closer.

PACO
Pinapahanap ka kasi ni Lola sa akin...

TINAY
Ganon ba...sabihin mo na lang sa
kanila na may sakit ako..

Pause. Uncomfortable silence.

PACO
Bakit mo nagawa yon, Tinay?

TINAY
Pati ba naman ikaw?

Alam na naming lahat ang totoo...

TINAY
Hindi ko alam...kung bakit ko ginawa yun...

PACO
Hindi mo alam kung bakit mo sinira

TINAY

Paco kept meeting her gaze even if she avoids his.

Basta, simula ng dumating siya

(crying heavily)

mapigilan ang sarili ko...gaga lang
talaga ako...tanga na kung
tanga...pero ganito talaga ako...

Paco moves in closer. He places an arm around her. This seemed to calm Tinay down.

TINAY
Maganda ba ako, Paco?

PACO
Oo naman, Tinay...

TINAY
Puwes, halikan mo ulit ako...

PACO
May girlfriend na ako, Tinay...

TINAY
Sige na, Paco...gusto ko lang
matikman ang halik ng may

Paco is looking at Tinay affectively. He felt for her sadness.

Paco heaves a sigh. He made a quick decision. He moved in
closer to give Tinay a kiss.

INT. ISLAND MANSION BALCONY - CONTINUOUS

The terrace is over-looking the gardens below. The only
entrance to the balcony is through the main dining hall,
where there were not a lot of guests. Most of the visitors
stayed at the living room and the foyer...

Lena found the much needed solitude in the place. A cold
breeze sent shivers to her somewhat wet body. The light
stain the wine left on her dress was starting to become
prominent, evidence that it was starting to dry up. Lena
placed her arms around her body.

Suddenly, from behind, Enzo places his dinner jacket on her
shoulders.

LENA
(without looking at him)
Salamat, Enzo...

ENZO
Lena, I’m sorry...

LENA
Huwag kang mag-sorry, Enzo...totoo
lahat ng sinabi ni Janna...

ENZO
No, Lena...alam ko kung sino
ka...kung anong klaseng tao ka...

LENA
Tama si Janna, Enzo...I’m nothing but a fraud...

Tears of self-pity fell from Lena’s eyes.

ENZO
Hindi totoo yan, Lena...besides,
lahat naman tayo may sama na
tinatago sa ating mga katawan, di
ba? Ang importante...hindi mo
hinahayaang mangibabaw ito sa
mga kabutihang nagawa mo...

Lena remains quiet.

Enzo moves his head closer...Lena met his lips halfway.
They shared a very passionate kiss...

At that same moment, Janna, walked in into them. Her face was crestfallen. She quivered at the sight of them. Seeing
them in a warm embrace, finally gave her the confirmation
she needed. She had lost. A look of resignation took over her face.

JANNA
(to herself)
Congratulations, Lena. You played a
good game...take care of Enzo...

Janna leaves with tears in her eyes.

Meanwhile, the two kissed for a few more minutes. When they
let go, they were out of breath.

ENZO
I’ve been meaning to do that for days!

LENA
Salamat, Enzo...

ENZO
Salamat? I was expecting sana....I
love you din!

LENA
Salamat kasi pinili mo ako...

ENZO
I need to hear it, Lena.

LENA
Hinalikan na kita, ah...Hindi pa ba

ENZO
Pag mahal mo ang isang tao, kailangan

A few minutes later, the two found themselves dancing to the
music of their hearts.

Pero, sana Enzo...ingatan mo ang

LENA
Hindi pa...ikaw ang una kong minahal.

ENZO

been anybody's first boyfriend...

Lena hugged him. Gerald pulled her closer even more. Her
face now lies on his chest. She could hear his heart beating
wildly.

Suddenly, they heard a loud scream! It was coming from
below...from the gardens.

EXT. MANSION’S GARDENS - SAME TIME

The shrilling scream came from Liz. She had walked into
that darkly lit area looking for Paco. She found him in a
state of partial undress, kissing Tinay torridly.

PACO
Lizzie, wait! Let me explain...

LIZ
More than five seconds na ang halik
na iyan, Paco. That means that you
really meant it...

Liz hastily turns her back at them. Paco rushes to catch her
hand.

PACO
Sorry, Liz....I was just comforting
her...

Liz turns back at him.

LIZ
Comforting? Bakit, ano ka,
comforter? You pig!!!

PACO
Liz, there is an explanation to
this...no matter how bad this looks...

LIZ
Paco...I’ve seen enough! You make

Liz wait...

Liz exits. Paco, returns to the scene of the crime to pick
up his missing shirt only to find Tinay crying.

TINAY
Wala na siya, Paco...libre ka na
para mahalin ako...

PACO
Ang problema, Tinay...hindi ikaw
ang laman ng puso ko...sorry...

TINAY
Ganon na lang ba iyon, sorry lang?

PACO
Sinabi ko naman sa iyo, Tinay...si
Liz ang mahal ko...

TINAY
Ramdam ko sa halik mo, Paco...mahal
mo na din ako..

PACO
You’re delusional, Tinay...

Paco leaves.

INT. ISLAND MANSION BALCONY -CONTINUOUS

Enzo and Lena saw everything that transpired below. As Liz
came up the stairs, Lena and Enzo moved over to meet her.

LENA
Liz...

LIZ
Lena, tulungan mo akong mag-impake...
kailangan kong umalis
dito...isasama ko na si Janna...

LENA
Pero, Liz...

Liz sees Enzo. She moves over to him and gave him a big
slap on the face. Enzo was shocked.

ENZO
Anong ginawa ko sa iyo?

LIZ
You men are pigs!!! You think of
women as playthings. If I were you,
Lena...mag-isip-isip ka muna bago
mo sagutin yang mokong na
iyan...pare-pareho ang tabas ng
dila at sikmura ng mga iyan...mga
manloloko!

ENZO
Hey, that’s unfair...

Liz once again moves in closer and gives him another slap...

ENZO
What did I do this time?

LIZ
Para kay Paco yan...paki-pasa na
lang ng message...

Liz tugs Lena along. Lena just shrugged her shoulders at
Enzo and walked away with Liz. Enzo groaned at his flaming
cheeks.

ENZO
(to himself, sighing)
Mga babae talaga...

Paco comes up the stairs. HE moves quickly towards
Enzo.

Enzo gives him a slap on the face.

PACO
Pare, anong ginawa ko?

ENZO
Message galing kay Liz...sabi, you're an daw...

PACO
Ganon ba?

ENZO
Next time, pakisabi sa kanya ayaw ko nang
maging messenger ninyo...

Enzo leaves Paco pondering about what happened this fateful night.

Thanks for reading. This was a complex one to write. TOo many characters' subplots converging...whew! Janna is finally off the island! Ha ha ha...natuwa naman ako sa turn-out nito. I was LOL when I was re-reading it. Very melodramatic ang mga lines...he he he...pang-soap opera talaga...I just couldn't help myself.
