Lena is back in her room and by her bed, breezing through
Madrid’s book. However, some questions are still bothering her.

Her vivid dream also keeps repeating into her mind. She puts
down her book to think...

LENA
(Lena is discussing
this to herself)
Ano ba, Lena? Talasan mo ang isip
mo! Ano ang koneksiyon ni Alvarez
kay Madrid? Bakit sila magkakaroon
ng koneksiyon? Hindi naman sila
magkakilala...

She picks up the book. Her hand traced the outline of the
tell-tale symbol on the cover. She then stands up and began
pacing her entire bedroom...

Scenes from her dream flash back to her. Especially the
part Lolo Ignacio is holding the book in front of her...the
insigna on the cover!

LENA
Ano kayang ibig nitong sabihin....

She continues to walk back and forth until she sees a framed
picture in her wall...it is a picture of Madrid, Spain. She
stops in front of it, wondering...

Then, suddenly,it seemed as if a light has been in
Lena’s mind. Everything became clear as crystal to her...

In her excitement she dropped the book she was holding. It
was hard for her to contain her new found discovery that she
had to sit by the bed to settle down a bit...

LENA (VOICE OVER)
(speaking her mind)
Posible kaya? Si Constancio Madrid
at si Jose Alvarez kaya ay
magkamag-anak? Bakit naman
magkakaroon ng ugnayan si Madrid
kay Alvarez kung hindi niya kilala
ito! Si Lolo nga kaya si Madrid?!
Tulad nang sa panaginip ko?

She moved about her room trying to contain her excitement.
This information could prove to be very valuable to her.

LENA
Pag-sine-swerte ka nga naman Lena!
Constancio Madrid!!! Tama!!! Consuelo at
Ignacio ....Kaya naging
Constancio!...at Madrid, ang
pinakapaborito nilang bakasyunan!

She jumps to her bed and sprawled unto it....like she was
lying on money.

LENA (VOICE OVER)
Constancio Madrid!!!! Hindi ko
akalain makikilala pala kita ng
personal.

LENA
Ikinararangal kong makilala ka,
ginoong Madrid.

She was play acting in her mind, as if she was in fact
meeting the famous writer.

Endless possibilities played in Lena’s mind....

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. LENA’S IMAGINATION - FORMAL PRESS RELEASE LUNCHEON
Lena is being mobbed by a room full of reporters...

REPORTER 1:
Ms. Lena Ramirez, paano niyo po
natagpuan ang lokasyon nitong si
Constancio Madrid?

LENA
Nakilala ko po si Ginoong Madrid
nitong summer...napakabait at
napaka matulungin niyang tao...una
hindi ko pa po alam na siya pala si
Madrid...dahil napagtahi-tahi ko
ang mga clues sa bahay nila, ayun
inamin din niya sa akin...

REPORTER 2:
Ano ang gagawin niyo sa limang
milyong piso?

LENA
Iiwan ko na po ang
Pilipinas...Titira ho ako sa ibang
bansa...tapos bibili ako ng condo doon,
ng sasakyan...

REPORTER 3:
Ano ho ba ang pruweba ninyo, Ms. Ramirez? Paano
niyo naipag-ugnay itong si Madrid
at Ginoong Alvarez? Itong larawan
na to sa cover ng libro? Ito lang?
Ito lang ba ang pruweba niyo?

The crowd started to boo...the reporters started to heckle...

Lena closed her eyes to escape this rather grim scenario.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. LENA’S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Back to reality.

Lena is now contemplating a plan to expose Madrid.

LENA
(to herself)
Dahan-dahan lang Lena! Hindi ka
pwedeng padalos-dalos. Siguraduhin
mo muna bago ka magdiwang...Pero
Lolo Iggy, kung ikaw nga talaga si
Madrid, patawad....Sana nga iba na
lang...huwag lang ho kayo!

Eventually she had to calm herself down. Only now has she
realized the implications this information had in her life
and the life of the very people she has learned to love.

Tears start to well from Lena’s eyes...

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. BEACH FRONT - SEVERAL DAY’S AGO - FLASHBACK IN LENA’S
MIND

Conversations Lena had with Enzo, Paco, and the rest
regarding whether to divulge information about Madrid
started to play back in her mind too...

FLASHBACK:

PACO
May tanong ako sa inyo...

JANNA
Sige, shoot..

PACO
Halimbawa, nalaman mo na ang
kapitbahay mo ay si Constancio
Madrid, ipagbibigay alam mo ba sa
kinauukulan ang kinalalagyan niya
nang sa ganoon ay makuha mo ang
perang pabuya?

TINAY
Ako siguro, oo. Para yumaman naman
ako. At sabay pa kaming yayaman!
At magpapa-face lift ako, bust lift,
pwet lift...

JANNA
Ako hindi, kasi baka maapektuhan
ang pagsusulat niya. Kung malalaman
na ng lahat kung sino siya, baka
ma-pressure siya at pumangit ang
mga gawa niya...

LIZ
Ako naman "oo." Hindi dahil sa pera
na makukuha ko, kundi para makuha
na rin niya ang recognition na laan
para sa kanya...

ENZO
Hindi rin siguro. Kasi kung ayaw
ng taong magpakita, for sure may
malalim siyang dahilan. Sana irespeto
na lang ng lahat ang
kanyang pananahimik at i-enjoy na
lang natin ang mga gawa niya...

PACO
Ikaw Lena, ano ang gagawin mo?

LENA
Ako? Depende sa pangangailangan ko.
Kapag wala na akong makain at
naghihikahos na ako sa buhay ko,
isusumbong ko siya...Uunahin ko ang
sarili kong pangangailangan, kasi
obviously hindi niya kailangan ang
pera...

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. LENA’S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Back again to reality.

Guilt is really starting to saturate
Lena’s senses...

LENA (VOICE OVER)
Lolo Ignacio, patawarin niyo po
ako...sa mga maaaring gagawin ko.
Sana mapapatawad niyo pa po ako...

With this Lena turned away. Shielding the stubborn tears
that guiltily flowed from her eyes.

INT. LIVING ROOM - LATE IN THE MORNING

Lena woke up late the next morning. The information she had
stumbled upon turned out to be more distressing than
anything for Lena. Her conscience will not let her sleep.

When she walked down the stairs, she sees Rafael talking
with Lolo Ignacio and Lola Consuelo.

For some reason, Lena was glad to see Rafael. After the
rough night she had, she was glad to see a friendly face. A
face that won’t judge her, a friend that will believe her.
Lena quickly observes that Rafael somehow looks different
today. He looks more...clean. His newly cut hair and his
fresh shaven face seemed to make him more handsome by the
minute.

Perhaps because she was so overrought with emotions the night before, Lena
ran towards Rafael.

Rafael meanwhile took her open arms and gave Lena a big bear hug.

Lena held him really tight. She felt really comfortable. This made
Rafael grin from ear to ear.

RAFAEL
Wow! You must have missed me terribly!

Don Ignacio and Dona Consuelo meaningfully looked at each other.

LENA
Oo naman...

INT. LIVING ROOM -SAME TIME

It was unfortunate timing that it was also the same time
Enzo, Paco, Janna and Liz arrived from their trip from the
city. They came in just in time to see Lena hug Rafael.
All four of them were visibly...shocked.

The scene that fell upon them as they entered the living
room crushed Enzo’s heart completely. Seeing Lena hug Rafael
filled every cavernous space in Enzo‘s heart with jealousy...

Yet, he still tried to play it cool...

ENZO
(sarcastic)
Isn‘t it nice to come home to
scenes like these?

Lena and Rafael broke off their hug immediately. Lena dared
not face Enzo’s piercing gaze.

DON IGNACIO
Apo, kayo pala, kala ko mamayang
hapon pa ang dating niyo?

PACO
Eto po kasing si
Enzo...nagmamadaling umuwi....

JANNA
Hi Lena, it’s nice too see that
you’re back to your old self...

Lena felt immediately Janna’s spiteful, retort but Rafael
was even quicker in putting his arms around her shoulder and
pulling her close before Lena herself can react.

RAFAEL
Na-miss lang ako ng tao, kayo naman!
Isang araw na kasi kaming hindi
nagkita...di ba, honey?

Lena can only nod. All the while she was wary of Enzo’s
darkening mood.

LIZ
Ang sweet niyo naman...

PACO
I do that naman to you all the time,
ah?

LIZ
Yeah, even if you’re sweaty!
Minsan it’s so ...eeeewww!!

PACO
(to everybody)
That’s just how she misses me...

Paco's ploy to lighten the mood,
suffice to say, did not work.
Enzo remains disconcerted about Rafael’s possessive gesture
to Lena. He decided that he can no longer stand it...

ENZO
Guys, akyat muna ako sa bedroom ko.
I have a headache...

With that Enzo hastily climbed the stairs to his bedroom,
leaving everyone wondering about his meaningful exit.

JANNA
Ako din, masakit na rin ang ulo ko.

Janna picked up her small overnight bag, and headed upstairs
to follow Enzo.

At that point Lena wanted to cry. Rafael, noticing this,
whispered to her ear...

RAFAEL
Don’t you dare cry, Lena. We’re too
deep into this now. Huwag kang
bibitaw, please. Mao-obvious tayo.
Hinga ka lang ng malalim... hinga...

Lena followed, instantly feeling better. She looked
wistfully at Rafael who warmly smiled back...

EXT. MANSION GARDENS - A FEW HOURS LATER

Lena and Rafael are in deep conversation. She has regained
her grip on her emotions.

RAFAEL
Lena, what would I give to be in
his shoes right now...

LENA
Raf, ano ba? Di ba napag-usapan na
natin to...

RAFAEL
Yeah, and I stupidly agreed on your
plan, even it kills me...ang sakit
talaga Lena...

LENA
Hindi naman kita pinilit...sabi mo
okay lang...

RAFAEL
Ang tanga-tanga ko nga di ba?

LENA
Raf, stop making it harder for me,
at para na rin sa iyo! Maybe we
should stop this...

RAFAEL
No, no, no Lena. Huwag...I’m sorry.
It was just selfish of me.

LENA
Salamat pala at dumating ka...

RAFAEL
Did you really miss me or was that
for show?

LENA
Hindi ah, na miss talaga kita.
Malay ko ba namang darating sila.

RAFAEL
Good to know! Buti naman at namimiss
mo rin pala ako.

LENA
Siyempre, kaibigan kita...

RAFAEL
Wala pa rin bang nagbago, kahit kaunti?

LENA
Rafael...

RAFAEL
Just checking!!!
(pause)
Kala ko nga papatayin ako Enzo
kanina, eh!

LENA
Talaga?

RAFAEL
Hindi mo ba nakita? Parang gusto
niya na akong sakalin!

LENA
Talaga...

RAFAEL
Speaking of the devil...

They see Enzo, coming out of the mansion. He stood there for
a little bit, looking as if he was searching for something
or somebody...when he sees them, he glumly heads to the
opposite direction.

However, it was the same time Janna came out. She sees Enzo.
They argued a bit about something, then they saw a rather
pissed Janna heading towards their direction. Enzo tries to
stop her, but Janna was very obstinate and determined to get
to them. Enzo followed suit.

Lena seeing Janna marching in, stood up to face her. Rafael
wedged himself between them.

JANNA
Hi Lena! It’s nice to see you’re
back with Rafael.

LENA
Bakit? May problema ba?

RAFAEL
Janna, if you could please sit down...

Janna complied. Enzo let out a sigh. He sat down too. So
did, Lena and Rafael.

LENA
May kailangan ka ba, Janna?

JANNA
May kailangan kang malaman!

Janna never took her eye off Lena. There is so much malice in her tone.

ENZO
Janna, no. Please...

LENA
Ano yun, Janna?

ENZO
Janna, please no!!

JANNA
Don’t you think Lena deserves to know?

ENZO
It’s not your place to tell her!

JANNA
If not me, who will? Kayo?

LENA
Ano ba to? Tungkol ba to saan?

JANNA
Hindi mo ba alam Lena na as of two
nights ago, napagdesisyunan na kung
sino ang mo...

LENA
Ha?

RAFAEL
(realizing what Janna
is up to)
Janna, no.
(to Lena)
Lena, let me explain...

LENA
Sandali...Patapusin niyo siya...

Janna gathered all momentum, she was ready to blow...

JANNA
Hindi mo ba alam na nagpustahan
itong dalawa? Kung sino ang manalo,
siya ang magiging mo? Guess
what, the right man won! Si Rafael
na ngayon ang bagong mo.
And si Enzo naman ang ko!

ENZO
Lena, let me explain...ganito kasi
yun...

LENA
Sandali lang...

RAFAEL
Hindi Lena, ganito kasi yun...

LENA
Janna, sandali lang. Magkaliwanagan
nga tayo...

JANNA
You can ask them, Lena. You were
just a bet...a mere bet!

LENA
Sandali lang, patapusin niyo nga
ako!
(referring to Enzo and Rafael)
Ano ba, ang gulo niyong
dalawa...
(composes herself)
Janna...You mean to say, sumugod ka
dito, parang torong umuusok ang
ilong, para lang sabihin sa akin na
si Enzo ay natalo sa pustahan noong
isang gabi kaya si Rafael na ang
ko... ganon ba?

JANNA
Oo...shocked ka ano?

A look of triumph on Janna's face.

Long pause.

Lena struggles to find the words. Then she
suddenly burst into laughter, surprising everybody.

LENA
Siyete naman...yun lang? Ano ba
tayo? Grade three? Yun lang
magagalit na ako?

Janna appeared stymied. Rafael and Enzo looked at each
other, smirking.

LENA (CONTINUOUSLY)
Pasensya na Janna, hindi ako
ganoong tao. Hindi ako naaapektuhan
ng ganyan-ganyan lang.

JANNA
You mean hindi ka galit? Kahit alam
mong pinagpustahan ka nila? They
were playing with your emotions,
Lena...both of them!

LENA
Janna naman, that is so immature.
Bigyan mo naman ako ng konting
credit. Whoever it is ang ko,
I really don’t mind...honestly, wala talaga akong
pakialam. lang sa parada yun,
hindi naman kasal ang pinaguusapan
natin dito.

JANNA
Seriously? You were a bet for
crying out loud. Dapat magalit ka,
kasi kung ako yun...magagalit ako.

LENA
Precisely Janna, hindi ako ikaw.
Besides, kahit sino sa kanila okay
lang sa akin. Sandali, I can prove
it to you...

Lena turns to see who else is in the vicinity. She sees Julio.

LENA
Julio! Halika nga dito...

Julio hastily gets to them.

LENA
Julio, may gagawin ka ba sa pista?

JULIO
Wala ho!

LENA
May barong ka ba?

JULIO
Meron po.

LENA
Puwes, mula ngayon, ikaw na ang consorte
ko sa parada. Magpagupit ka, ha?

Lena looks defiantly at Rafael and Enzo. She then flashes
Janna a devious smile. Then, Lena hastily leaves...still
laughing.

Julio, meanwhile, is still clueless.

JULIO
Seryoso ba siya?

Janna, knowing that Lena had just outsmarted her, leaves the
group more frustrated than ever. She stomped her way back to
the mansion.

RAFAEL
(looking at Lena in awe)
That’s my girl!

ENZO
(looking at Janna in disgust)
That’s my girl...

Rafael and Enzo looked at each other. They just smiled, as
if they know what each other is thinking.

JULIO
Kuya, tama ba ang narinig ko?

ENZO
Oo...Swerte mo Julio. Si Lena
partner mo...

RAFAEL
Now, this is what I call FUN!

With that, all three men went inside the house...
