Chapter 6

“Yun? What a pleasant surprise.” Jaejoong hugged him lightly when he opened the door, “Are you okay, man?” He looked at Yunho’s gloomy face.

“I’m fine.” Yunho answered shortly, trying to keep his voice light.

Jaejoong stepped back to let him into his apartment, “What have you done to yourself? Going back to the old Jung Yunho, huh?” He hit Yunho’s arm playfully while scrutinizing his new look, “New short haircut, hair color, shaven face & dressed. Wow.” Jaejoong still smiled, looking at Yunho with a happy expression.

Yunho looked at him in annoyance! “Would you stop mumbling about me? I came here to have a chat with you. I don’t want to waste my time hearing you talking nonsense.”

“Wow, take it easy, man. How come you become so grumpy like an old lady?”

“Jae, be serious please.”

“Okay. Okay. I apologies.” Jaejoong answered quickly, before Yunho exploded.

“I tried to find her just now.” He said quietly.

“You what?” Jaejoong asked in surprise. It shocked him. His best friend was still trying to get involved with that girl after he thought the tragedy had ended.

“I went to her house but she was sleeping. I didn’t see her but I promise myself I’ll go back. I have to talk to her.” Yunho said firmly. He looked at Jaejoong.

“I’ve told you. Leave her alone.” Jaejoong said firmly, “You can find another girl & move on with your life. You don’t have to be obsessed with her. I’ve got plenty of girl friends for you to choose from. She wants to forget all that had happened & you have, too. Take my advice. Don’t cause anymore trouble.”

“I can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

“Because.” He shook his head, “I just can’t forget her, Jae. If I can’t see her, I think I might go crazy. For the last two weeks, she has always been in my mind.” Yunho said desperately. He ruffled his hair with his fingers. His face looked troubled.

Sighing in despair, Jaejoong looked at his best friend, “Honestly, I have a big question in my mind since that night. However, I couldn’t meet you in person. Your lawyer & the police didn’t allow anyone to visit you except your family.”

Yunho raised his face to meet his best friend’s hazel brown, almond-shaped eyes. He was waiting for the question anxiously.

“Why did you do that, Yun? Why did you have to her? There are many respective ways to get to know her or pursue her. You have the looks, brain, power & money; you have all the girls longing for. Why did you have to disgrace yourself?”

“I don’t know. I was a little bit drunk that night. I was angry with her. She was so cold, snappy & looked at me with disgusts. It hurtled my pride. All these time, I have always got the girl I want. I would have released her if she didn’t dance with me. We danced gracefully & I could see that she was attracted to me when our eyes met. Maybe I was wrong, I don’t know. My mind wasn’t clear. When she refused to talk to me, giving me her pouting face & treating me like nothing, my temper rose. I suddenly remembered Myungsoo giving me those drugs. They were still in my pocket. I swallowed one pill after pouring one in her drink.” He paused, gasping for air.

“To tell you the truth. I don’t remember what I did to her. I didn’t enjoy it at all. When I regained my consciousness, I saw her beneath me, with a painful expression on her face. The expression I couldn’t forget for the rest of my life.” He stopped with a pain expression on his face.

Yunho stared at his best friend with his gloomy face, “You know, one mistake led me to live in hell!” He whispered.

Jaejoong let out a heavy sigh, “So, what are you planning to do next?”

“I don’t know. I can’t decide now. I heard from my father that she has a fiance already. If her fiance refuse her because of this, I’ll never let him go.” Yunho said firmly. He clenched his fists tightly.

Jaejoong laughed bitterly, “You will cause another trouble for her if you beat up her fiance. Violence isn’t the way out, man.”

Yunho looked at Jaejoong seriously, “If this happens, I will marry her. I swear to god.”

Jaejoong was stunned. He looked at the clock on the wall while thinking about what Yunho said, “What will you do with Jiyeon? She’s your girlfriend. She called me several times wanting to know how you’re doing. She burst into my apartment the next morning after she read the newspaper. She’s really worried about you. She called your parents many times to get their permission to see you but your father insisted that no one visit you in prison. Don’t let her down, Yun.”

Yunho leaned his back against the chair & looked up at the sky from Jaejoong’s balcony. It was a very bright night; the sky sparkled like a dark piece of crushed velvet studded with diamonds. He drew in a deep breath. He raised his eyes & Jaejoong could see the confusion mingled now with the grief, “I don’t know.” Yunho muttered softly.

As Yunho said he would be back, Yuri took any precautions not to let him see her. Her family promised to prevent that deadly virus to contaminate their Yuri again.

It had already been three times since Yunho came to see her but he failed. Her family protected her strongly. Once, he got scolded from Yuri’s father. However, Yunho didn’t give up. He was basically stubborn. He had to use a little trick to get her.

Meanwhile, Yuri tried her best to move on with her life. However, those memories seemed to not be so easy to be erased. How she wished she could forget that long, humiliating night she’d been in Yunho’s arms, the horrible things he’d done, the pain she felt. Yuri pushed her chair back & jumped up to her feet, “Damn you, Jung Yunho! Enough of this misery.” From this moment on, she would set her life in a new direction. That was her promise to herself.

Yunho glanced at his bulova brown leather strap watch. It’s already four o’clock in the afternoon & Yuri still wasn’t home yet. He had been watching her for almost three days. He knew she would be back from her college around this time. He took a can of cold coke & drank it instantly. He had been waiting for almost two hours in the car but still, there was no clue of her coming.

He glanced again, at the side mirror of his car. There was no sign of her, ‘Damn! Where is she?’ He ask
