Chapter 33

The Jung mansion had been decorated with bright multicolor, balloons & other ornaments of children’s birthday party. A marvelous buffet was placed on the long tables near the swimming pool. The weather was a little bit cold as it was winter already but it didn’t lessen the lovely atmosphere of the party. The heat from the heaters all over the place had given warm ambiance.

Yunho had been scanning the main room, looking back at the main door for the hundredth times already. Where was Yuri? Would she come? She had to come. His heart refused to think that she wouldn’t come. Tonight would be their special night. Instead of Chunghee’s birthday, he was planning on proposing to Yuri. He had prepared every detail as he didn’t want to fail. Tonight was his last chance. She would have her last exam on January the third & if she passed which he knows that she would, she would leave him & their son fifteen days after that. He had to make a move before she continued her original plan. He had to be successful. He was willing to say yes to do anything as long as he could get her to agree to become his real wife, to be by his side forever. God knew how he loved & adored her.

Their romance was sizzling up & down. Yunho had no doubts about his feelings for her but how about her? He was hopelessly in love with her at the moment & it might be for the rest of his life but she still loved the other man. Cold sweat was forming on his forehead although the night was cold. He put his right hand inside his calvin klein blue solid extreme slim fit suit pocket again, to make sure that the blue box of his engagement ring was still there. He took in a deep breath to release his nerves. Where was she? He wanted to pick her up but she refused. She preferred to come with her family, her parents & Mimi. He couldn’t force her as he was afraid they would get into another fight. He pulled out his handkerchief to wipe his sweat on his forehead.

“Hi Yunnie Oppa.” The soft voice made him turn his head. He smiled as he saw Jiyeon with her royal blue betsy & adam one-shoulder sequined gown smiling at him. She gave him a glass of champagne while holding another glass for herself.

“Hi.”

“Congratulations.” She raised her glass.

“Thank you.” Yunho raised his glass to thank her but he turned his head again, looking at the front gate.

Jiyeon smiled, knowing what he had been waiting for. She had been watching him since a half hour ago. She asked him casually, “Is Yuri coming?”

“Yes, she is. I’m waiting for her.” He answered, without taking his eyes off from the gate.

Jiyeon looked his face in despair. She had to make her next move. Looking at Yunho’s mother face when she was talking to her about Yuri eight minutes ago, she knew that Mrs. Jung hated Yuri so much. She had to take advantage of their bad relationship.

“There she is.” Yunho said suddenly in delight, taking her back from her dream. He put his glass down on the table & waved his right hand to signal Yuri where he was. He dashed to the front gate, leaving Jiyeon behind. Yuri let out a little laugh, looking at an enthusiasm Yunho waving his hand to her & her family. She could tell from his intense eyes that he was stunned because of her appearance. She looked different tonight. Wearing the black crew neckline, sleeveless, xscape illusion-lace colorblock gown with a slit at the side hem, she looked like an angel. Gorgeous Kwon Yuri simply glowed in a stunning gown that hugged her perfectly. Thanks to Yunho who chose it for her. Her hair was simply let down with a small imitation pearl headband. She only had on some light makeup which made her more stunning. Her smile flared across the atmosphere.

“Here comes the prince.” Youngmi sang the old song in her sister’s ear, teasing her.

Yuri blushed & glared at her, “Mimi, be quiet please.”

“Hi Yul.” Yunho greeted, & kissed her cheeks lightly, “You’re so gorgeous.” He said in a husky voice, without taking his eyes off of her. He stared at her lovely face & lowered down his eyes to spot his birthday gift, the key necklace, on her neck. He smiled happily.

Yuri lowered her head, blushing again, for his admiration, “Thanks.” She said softly.

“Hello Mr & Mrs. Kwon & you too, Mimi. Thanks for coming. Please follow me to the main room.” He bowed politely to Yuri’s parents & took Yuri’s hand to walk with him into the main room.

While they were walking hand in hand to the main room, the other guests stopped talking & looked at Yuri in awe. She was indeed beautiful & striking with her gorgeous gown. She lowered her head as she found many eyes watching her stepped.

“Oppa, where’s Chunghee?” Youngmi asked, scanning the room to find her cute nephew.

Yunho smiled & pointed to his son with his eyes to the corner of the living room. Youngmi followed his gaze & found her favorite nephew busy with his toy, sitting on the sofa. He didn’t pay any attention to the many guests that were surrounding him & calling his name.

“I’ll find my parents to tell them you’re here. Oh, there’s my mother.” Yunho waived his right hand, “Come on, Yul. Meet my mother.”

Yuri hesitated to move as she felt her heart beating fast. What should she say to her? What should she do? She saw Yunho’s mother raised her left eyebrow seeing her with Yunho. She suddenly was afraid to meet her face to face. She looked at Yunho & whispered, “May I meet her later? I mean, I.”

He saw her nervousness & understood her feelings, “Okay. We’ll meet her later together & better now you’re hiding from Chun before he sees you & screamed loudly.” He paused & laughed lightly, recalling his son’s loud screams, “I don’t know where he got it from.”

Yuri raised her eyes to him, “What do you mean by that?”

“Nothing. Suddenly, I just remember someone who likes to yell at me more than one year ago.”

Yuri’s face reddened. She finally knew Yunho was teasing her. She pinched his arm playfully & whispered, “You’re enjoying teasing me, aren’t you, Oppa?”

He laughed again, & squeezed her hand. He gave her an assuring look. She smiled in gratitude.

Yuri’s family had gone to greet Mrs. Jung who was standing near her grandson. Soon, they were engaged in a light conversation. Mr. Jung was busy with his business colleagues.

Yuri looked at her son from a distance & let out a little smile. Chunghee was so engrossed in his toy. She noticed that even though he was only one years old, his curiosity of new things made people think he was older than his age. He was a brilliant, intelligent & active boy, ‘He didn’t only inherited his father’s look but also his brain.’ Her heart said proudly, of her son. A voice of a gentleman made her turned her head.

“Oh, so this is the famous Yuri?” She frowned but kept the smile on her face, ‘What did he mean by the famous Yuri?’ Her mind asked in puzzlement.

“Yun, my friend, why don’t you introduce us?” He said again, winking playfully at Yunho.

Yunho punched his best friend’s arm playfully, “Don’t take any advantage okay? Yuri, this is Kim Jaejoong, my best friend & Jae, this is Kwon Yuri, my.” He hesitated to say the words he wanted & decided to make it casually before he got an approval from her, “My son’s lovely mother.”

Yuri & Jaejoong exchanged smiles & shook hands, “Yuri, you’re fabulous. May I have a dance with you later?” Jaejoong asked, while his eyes were still admiring her beauty.

“She’s taken.” Yunho said quickly, giving Jaejoong an irritated face. He then took Yuri’s hand in his.

Jaejoong laughed, “Come on, Yun. Just one dance, it won't hurt her." He paused & laughed, “It’s your party. Give me a drink, buddy.”

“Don’t you see a waiter walking across your face with a tray of wine?!” He retorted back at Jaejoong, “You just want to get rid of me from Yuri, don’t you?”

Jaejoong laughed again, “Geez, you’re so grumpy now, Yun.”

Looking at the best of pals battling with their own words, Yuri took an initiative to let them go together to the mini bar near the backyard. She pulled her hand out from Yunho’s & pushed him slightly, “He’s your guest. Go & accompany him to get his drink. I’ll be okay.”

Yunho looked at her in a pleading look but she shook her head with a bright smile on her face. He sighed & gave up, “Alright. Wait for me, Yul. I have to get this trouble maker a strong drink to make him fly & stop bugging us.” They were laughing lightly at his joke.

“You’re obsessed with her, aren’t you?” Jaejoong asked Yunho in a low voice, while they were walking to the mini bar.

“Yes. I’m deeply in love with her. Can’t you see that?” He answered back, still smiling crazily.

Jaejoong just stood there, shaking his head in disbelief, “But you have to act carefully. Are you sure she wants you & not because of...um.”

“What?”

“Money.”

Yunho shot an angry look at him. He pressed down his anger & whispered firmly to Jaejoong, “I can’t believe you will think that of her. She isn’t that type. I’m telling you one more time
