Chapter 2

It was still six o’clock in the morning when the phone rang endlessly at the Jung residence.

Jung Inho groaned loudly. hearing the annoying rings! ‘Who’s calling me in this early morning?’ He thought irritated. He reached out for the phone on the side of his bed.

“Hello?”

“Mr. Jung? This is Kim Jaehwa.” The voice on the other line sounded impatient.

“What is it? Do you realize what time it is?” He asked, a little bit angry. Why is his lawyer calling him in the middle of his peaceful sleep?

“I’m sorry to bother you in this early morning. This is important. It’s about Yunho.”

“Yunho? What’s wrong with him?”

“He got into trouble last night. He…”

Before he could finished his words, Mr. Jung said quickly, “He’s a big boy. He can manage himself. Give him the money he wants. Let’s talk in my office later.” He was ready to put the phone down when his lawyer shouted from the other line.

“No! It can’t wait! He needs help!”

“What is it?” He felt irritated now, “Where is he now?”

“In jail.”

“What?” His eyes that were ready to close again, suddenly opened widely. He sat up, putting the phone to his right ear correctly.

“What is he doing there?” His question sounded dumb but nobody realized that.

“He had been caught by the police last night in one of your hotel, The Paradise.” Jaehwa, his lawyer tried to explain to him.

“Is it some kind of joke?! It’s not funny, Jaehwa!” Mr. Jung retorted. He brushed his ruffled hair with his fingers.

“It’s not a joke, Mr. Jung. He’s really in jail.”

Mr. Jung heard a big sigh coming from his long life lawyer, “I don’t understand why you couldn’t get him out of there. You’re the best in the country. Just pay them to bail him out.”

“The charges of him are many, Mr. Jung. It’s not easy. If I could, I wouldn’t be calling you this morning.” “What did he do this time?”

“Drunk, drug user & ual harassment.” He answered shortly. He was already prepared that Mr. Jung would explode. His prediction was right.

“What happen? Yunho has never done that. He was drunk, that’s okay. Everybody could get drunk. However, using drug & ual harassment are ridiculous. Have you clearly checked to see that its Yunho, my son?”

“Yes, I have. I even met Yunho himself at the police station.”

“So, why didn’t you take him home with you?”

Jaehwa took in a deep breath before explaining to this stubborn old man, “I can’t get an alibi for him. Besides, the witness are many, Yunho himself had admitted his faults.”

“Stupid boy!” Mr. Jung cursed his son.

“I will explain to you what happened before you exploded from the morning newspaper. Yunho was drunk last night at your hotel, the paradise, where there was a birthday party for a girl named Oh Hayoung. According to Yunho’s statement, he liked a specific girl, Kwon Yuri, one of the guests. However, the girl seemed to ignored him which made him angry. He used drugs on himself & drugged her as well to get her in bed. Now, the girl is making an allegation against him for ual harassment.”

“Ridiculous!” Mr. Jung snapped at him.

“The difficult part is that, Yunho had made a statement in front of the police officer that he was the one who will take all the blame. He admitted himself guilty. That’s why I couldn’t bail him out.”

Hearing his lawyer’s explanation, Mr. Jung put his hand over his forehead, “I don’t know what’s wrong with that boy. Yunho is a smart boy. Why did he act so carelessly this time? Who knows, maybe that girl was only trapping him?”

“Mr. Jung, I met Yunho early this morning at the police station. He looked terrible. I’ve never seen him like this before in the fifteen years that I’ve known him. He seems to be feeling a deep regret for that girl.” He spoke softly, at the end.

“Alright. Come to my office at nine o’clock sharp. Give me the profile of that girl.” Mr. Jung said quickly, “Okay. I’ll meet you there.” Jaehwa answered in relief.

“By the way, Jaehwa, do you have any solution to free my son?”

There was a sound of a big sigh coming from the other line, “The only way to make him a free man again, is if the girl annul her allegation against him.”

“Make her do it before you meet me at the office. Offer her money or anything she wants. Just bring Yunho, my only son home.” Mr. Jung said sadly, at the end of his statement.

“Okay. Goodbye Mr. Jung. See you later.”

The phone line was cut off a few moments ago but Mr. Jung still held the cordless phone in his hand. He stared blankly. How could Yunho get involved in this kind of incident which would definitely ruin his own name, his family great name? He sighed again, hoping that it was only a dream. However, he believed that his trusted lawyer would handle this situation wisely. He cursed again, at the girl who stirred that big trouble. What was her name? Yuri? Yuri who? Damn!

He stood up & walked towards the door. He opened the door harshly & shouted to his housekeeper.
